1er courrier du Brésil !

First cover from Brazil !

I received this morning my first letter from Brazil, from Rio de Janeiro. Thanks Pedro!

This stamping is composed of 2 triangular self-adhesive stamps “Christmas 2003”, of a self-adhesive stamp of the 2002 “musical instruments” series and finally of a stamp of 2007 commemorating the International Polar Year :

The Christmas stamp was issued on October 31, 2003, another stamp with the same visual one (Christmas tree) and the same value (0,50 R$) but with edges of brown color was also emitted the same day.
The 0,10 R$ stamp representing a trumpet belongs to a series of 10 self-adhesive stamps, emitted on July 1, 2002, devoted to musical instruments (clarinet, accordion, xylophone…).

The stamp in top on the right of the cover belongs to the tryptic above issued on March 13, 2007 to commemorate the International Polar Year (the logo of the IPY figure on the stamp).
It is about an international scientific programme of great width (more than 60 countries) concerning the Arctic and Antarctic areas.
2007 also mark the 25 years of presence of Brazil in the Antarctic via its PROANTAR scientific program. The Brazil "Captain Ferraz" Antarctic station is represented besides on the stamp of the medium.

Several postal administrations issued commemorative stamps this year, including a joint series of 2 stamps M/S (Sweden, USA, Canada, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Greenland, Iceland). Russia also issued a nice M/S of 3 stamps.
French Post didn't oddly consider it useful to emit a stamp to commemorate the IPY ?
But logically, the TAAF (Austral and Antarctic French Territories) save the honor with the series above of 2 stamps + central label with the same logo of the IPY (why in English ?).
It should be noted that, as on the Brazilian emission, an emperor penquin is reproduced on this issue !
