Emblèmes de la fédération de Malaisie

State Emblems of Malaysia

On September 25, 2007, the Malaysian Post has issued 14 stamps representing the emblems of the 13 states constituting the federation of Malaysia, as well as the national emblem. This national emblem appears besides in bottom on the left of each stamp. 3 of the these stamps are reproduced on the nice FDC below which Kow Siew Lan sent to me. Thank you! On the left of the envelope, with the national flag background, the 14 emblems are reproduced.

Figure également la forme du Mont Kinabalu.
The 3 stamps which interest us represent, from left to right, the emblems of the Penang, Sabah and Malacca states. -Penang is a state located on the north-western coast of the Malayan peninsula. It is composed of the island of Penang and a small continental band encroaching on the state of Kedah. The emblem represents the Areca tree (pokok pinang in Malay, from where the name of the state) and the bridge connecting the island to the peninsula. -Sabah is a state located at the North-East of the island of Borneo. It is 2nd larger after Sarawak. The emblem represents 2 arms holding the flag of the state. These 2 arms symbolize the unit and the co-operation which bind the Malaysian states. Also appear the form of Mount Kinabalu. -Malacca is a state located on the south-western coast of the Malayan peninsula opposite the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The emblem represents a shield surrounded by 2 mousedeers. The shield contains 5 keris (the national double edged dagger) and the Malacca tree. In the top the crescent and the star symbolizing Islam, the official religion of the state.

The emblems of the 10 other states (Kedah, Sembilan, Pahang, Kelantan, Johor, Perak, Perlis, Selangor, Terengganu and Sarawak) also appear in duplicate on the sheet below :
It should be noted that the flags of Malaysia and of the 13 states are also reproduced on this sheet, very nice I find !
