XVIIe Congrès du Parti communiste Chinois

17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

After Taiwan...Mainland China.
The Chinese economy is growing so quickly... so sometimes we forget that China remains one of the few communist nations on our planet.
This cover from China that I've received recently remind us this fact because the 2 stamps commemorate the 17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. Thanks Zhou Fan !
This congress was held in Beijing in the Great Hall of the People, from October 15 (date of issue of 2 stamps) to October 21, 2007.
The Congress renews the leadership of the Chinese PC for the period 2007-2012. President Hu Jintao was reappointed. He took advantage of this opportunity to present his concept of scientific development aimed primarily at strengthening the building of a harmonious society.

The stamp on the left represents the site where took place the 1st National Congress of Chinese Communist Party. I do not know exactly where it is, but it seems to be in a boat, found also on the red color (of course !) postmark...
The stamp on the right represents the site of the 2nd plenum of the 7th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
I found these 2 stamps rather nice with their silver and golden glints, but it's always strange to see included a hammer and a sickle on a stamp in 2007....
Note that a souvenir sheet (with 1 stamp) was also issued on the same day : it represents a flying dove on a red background...
