Carte postale prépayée du Canada

Postage Paid Postcard from Canada

After the prepaid cover from Moldova, a prepaid postcard from Canada this time !
Garnet thank you for this wonderful postcard of the Canadian Rockies mailed on October 16 2008 from Edmonton, Alberta :-)
I let you count the many maple leaves appearing on this card...
You should find five leaves : two on the Edmonton Philatelic postmarks, two on the Canadian flags on the pre-printed stamp and in the center of this card and also one on the left of the pre-printed stamp in an area that seems to be provided to prevent from reproducing this postcard...

Curiously, the Canadian Post has included two different messages to explain for what this card is intended : "Postage paid. For posting in Canada and delivery worlwide" in the upper right and "Postage paid to anywhere in the world " at the bottom left !
The pre-printed stamp in the upper right, with no face value and without the words "postes/postage", reproduces the illustration of the definitive 45c stamp issued on July 31 1995.
Garnet has also added two other stamps on the left about La Francophonie, or more precisely about the Summits of la Francophonie held in Québec in 1987 and 2008 !
The right one, issued on September 2 1987, is depicting the emblem of the International Organization of la Francophonie (IOF) which had then just been adopted before this Summit (the 2nd one) held in Quebec from 2 to 4 September 1987. The five colors of the logo being based on flags of IOF member countries.
The IOF, which brings together countries from the five continents sharing the same language, French, works for peace, cooperation, solidarity and sustainable development.
The left stamp was issued on October 15 2008 to announce the 12th Summit of La Francophonie in Québec from 17 to 19 October 2008. This beautiful stamp shows a view of the town and St. Laurent River with in the sky the names of the 55 member countries or entities and of the 13 observers countries ! The five colors of la Francophonie are also included in the bottom of the stamp. During this Summit, two new countries, Latvia and Thailand, have been admitted into the organization as observers.
Next summit in 2010 in Madagascar.
Please note that Canada had also issued a stamp in 1995 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of La Francophonie, which was shamefully not the case of France...
