Jeux olympiques de la jeunesse à Singapour

Youth Olympic Games in Singapore

Merci beaucoup Edmund :-)

Singapore has been named host city for these Games by the IOC on 21st of February 2008, against the others cities of Moscow, Bangkok, Turin and Athens.
It was worth the issue of two commemorative se-tenant stamps (on 25th of June 2008), one $ 2.00 and an other at 0.26c (1st Local postal rate). These two stamps have been issued in sheets of 10 stamps (5 strips of 2 stamps).
The lower band of a sheet is included on the nice cover below mailed on 11st of April 2009.
Thank you very much Edmund :-)

These Youth Olympics will involve athletes aged between 14 and 18 years and will be held every four years, alternating with the Olympics : in 2010 will take place both the Summer Youth Olympic Games and the Winter Olympic Games (in Vancouver, Canada) and in 2012 will be held the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games (in Innsbruck, Austria) and the Summer Olympics (in London).
Nearly 3,600 athletes from 205 National Olympic Committees are expected in Singapore from 14th to 26th of August 2010, to compete in 26 sports, but also to participate in educational and cultural events.
The two stamps issued by the Singapore Post above are depicting a jubilant crowd with the national flag and the old Supreme Court building on the left and percussionists on the right.
It's worth noting that that the French Post has scheduled in 2010 a stamp dedicated to these Youth Olympics :-)
