150 ans des jardins botaniques de Singapour

150 years of Singapore Botanic Gardens

En 1822, le père fondateur de la ville de Singapour et accessoirement naturaliste émérite, le britannique Sir Stamford Raffles, établissait le 1er jardin botanique et expérimental dans le pays.
Mais ce sera seulement en 1859 que le jardin botanique sur son site actuel verra le jour.
La poste de Singapour a commémoré les 150 ans de ces jardins botaniques en émettant le 19 juin 2009 une très jolie série de 4 timbres se-tenant et un bloc-feuillet.
Ce bloc figure sur la lettre ci-dessous postée le 13 juillet 2009.

In 1822, the founding father of the city of Singapore and keen naturalist, Sir Stamford Raffles, established the first experimental and botanical garden in the country.
But this is only in 1859 that the botanic gardens at its present site was founded.
The Post of Singapore has commemorated the 150th anniversary of these Botanic Gardens by issuing on June 19th 2009 a beautiful set of four se-tenant stamps and one souvenir sheet.
This sheet is included on the cover below mailed on July 13th 2009.

Ce joli bloc montre deux cygnes noirs (Cygnus atratus) sur un des trois lacs (Symphony, Eco ou Swan ?) de ce jardin de 64 hectares.
Ce Jardin a la particularité d'être le seul au monde à être ouvert tous les jours entre 5h et minuit et gratuit, à l'exception du jardin national des orchidées ($5.00 pour un adulte).
D'autres attractions attirent les visiteurs du parc : une forêt tropicale, un jardin de l'évolution des plantes, le jardin des gingembres ou le jardin pour enfants...
This nice sheet is depicting two Black Swans (Cygnus atratus) on one of the three lakes (Symphony, Eco or Swan ?) of this garden of 64 hectares.
This Garden has the particularity of being the only one in the world to be open every day from 5 a.m. to 12 midnight and also free, except for the National Orchid Garden ($ 5.00 for an adult).
Other attractions draw visitors of the park : a rainforest, a Plant evolution garden, a ginger garden or a children's garden...
