Parcs naturels régionaux de Basse-Normandie

Regional Natural Parks of Lower Normandy

Among the 46 regional natural Parks of France (13% of national territory), the region of Lower Normandy (departments of Calvados, Orne and Manche) has 3 of them on its territory : Marshes of Cotentin and Bessin (established in 1991), Normandy-Maine (established in 1975) and Perche (established in 1998).
A special collector (10 self-adhesive IDTimbre type's stamps) was issued on May 22, 2010 (general sale on May 25) devoted to these three regional natural Parks of Lower Normandy.
A temporary post office was installed on May 22, 2010 at Nocé inside the Perche's "Maison du Parc".

I was lucky to receive the four philatelic souvenirs above and below posted during this collector's preview sale on May 22, 2010.
Thank you very much Stéphane :-)

The stamp above is one of the four stamps of this collector dedicated to the Normandy Maine Park. It is featuring the Romanesque cloister of the White Abbey of Mortain (department of Manche), a Cistercian building dating from the 12th century. The church and the cloister are classified as historical monuments since 1920.
The stylized star, emblem of the Federation of the Regional Natural Parks of France, is included on the logo of each of the 46 Parks and on the special cancellation above. This star symbolizes the common will of all those who come together to protect and support their heritage and to build their future...

The following three beautiful postcards are franked with the three stamp of this collector devoted to the Regional Natural Park of Perche.
Perche, the former name of a French province, is characterized by a strong geographical, historic, landscape and architecture's identity. Its heritage is characterized in particular by some very diverse natural environments : bocages bordered by hedges, meadows, forests, ponds and wetlands, hills and moors...
An overview of these natural environments with the stamp above showing a view of a Perche's bocage.

You can see a view of the forest of Bellême on the other side of this beautiful card above !

La "Maison du Parc du Perche" is installed since 2000 in the manor house of Courboyer located on the city of Nocé (department of Orne).
It's this manor, a jewel of the Perche's built heritage, that is featured on the stamp above. This building is a historical monument since 1981.

An other nice view of this manor house in spring on the other side of this card above.

The last stamp above is devoted to the activity of horse logging ("débardage" in French) used to evacuate trees cut from a forest.
This region of Perche is indeed famous for its horse breed, the "Percheron". This breed is again in the spotlight with new leisure activities (horse-drawn carriage...) but it is especially the environmental preservation and sustainable management of rural areas which now offer this horse many new opportunities.
This horse is included on the emblem of the Perche's Regional Natural Park (bottom left on these three stamps).

Another beautiful view of a typical bocage of this region of Perche above !
A big thank you Stéphane for allowing me to evoke in stamps and pictures this beautiful French region that I didn't know :-)
Maybe a next stamp collector of the same kind devoted this time to the Jura Mountains Regional Natural Park, dear to my heart ??
