Intéressants FDC brésiliens...

Attractive FDCs from Brazil...

The Brazilian Post has commemorated this anniversary by issuing, on April 23, 2010, the beautiful stamp (oil on canvas by artist Sônia Vrubleski showing the façade of the monastery) which is included in two copies on the FDC below.
Thank you very much Marcelo for this cover and the following two ones :-)

The pioneer of paleontology and archeology in Brazil is... Danish !
The Brazilian Post has reminded it to us, by issuing, on June 14, 2010, a stamp honoring Peter Wilhelm Lund (1801-1880), a botanist, zoologist and paleontologist born in Copenhagen so.
This stamp (designed by Jamile Costa Sallum) below is featuring a black and white portrait of the scientist with the inside of one of the caves of Lagoa Santa (State of Minas Gerais), where he settled for his research from 1835, in the background.
In nearly 10 years of work in a hundred caves, Lund discovered 120 fossils including 90 concerning still alive species. He also studied the coexistence of man with certain fossil extinct species, since proven, that inspired Darwin for his theory of evolution...
