Following the traces of John Paul II in Poland

Five years after the death of Polish Pope John Paul II, the Polish Post has issued on May 18, 2010, a stamp entitled "Following the traces of Karol Wojtyła in Wadowice".
This issue, one more devoted to this great Polish personality, allows to discuss the early years of the future Pope John Paul II in his hometown.
I'm not at all a fan of religious themes in philately but this stamp and its attached vignette are rather successful.
Thank you very much Kazimierz for this letter mailed on June 23, 2010 from Tarnobrzeg :-)

This stamp, issued in sheet of 5 stamps + 5 vignettes, is featuring a portrait of John Paul II (dry embossing printing) associated with the St. Peter Church built from 1984 to celebrate the beginning of the pontificate of John Paul II and in gratitude for his survival after the assassination attempt on St. Peter's Square in 1981...
This church was consecrated on August 14, 1994 by Pope himself.
The vignette is included a different portrait of Karol Wojtyła, then as Bishop of Krakow (?), with a view of the Basilica of the offertory of the Virgin Mary in Wadowice, where a statue of the pope was installed (see the margin above on the left).
The other margin on the right refers finally to a portrait of Karol Wojtyła at the age of 12 years.

Another (self-adhesive) stamp above on the left dedicated to John Paul II, issued on April 8, 2005, only 6 days after the pope's death at the age of 85...
His portrait was inspired by a work of Waldemar Swiezy.
Kazimierz added a stamp, issued on May 25, 2006, devoted to my friend (!) Benedict XVI, the pope who succeeded in 2005 to John Paul II.
This stamp evoked the visit of Benedict XVI in Poland from 25 to 28 May 2006 and in particular landmarks associated with his predecessor : Wadowice, Krakow, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska and Czestochowa...
