60 ans de la Copa Airlines au Panama

60 Years of Copa Airlines in Panama

The postal administration of Panama does obviously nothing as everyone... While no stamp had been issued since 2007 in the country, a new series has been issued on July 30, 2010 devoted to the 60th anniversary of the national airline, Copa Airlines... celebrated in 2007 !!
The Copa Airlines Company ("COmpañía Panameña de Aviación") has indeed been created in 1947 and is based today at the Tocumen International Airport, near the capital, Panama City. This company, which mainly serves countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, is regularly awarded for the quality of its services to passengers.

I was very lucky to receive this new series of the Panamanian Post on the cover above, with this impressive FDC cancellation (without any exact indication of the place of issue ?) containing the company's logo and its website (copaair.com) !
Thank you very much Freddy :-)
This numbered (No. 00320) sheet is actually composed of a single stamp with a value of 1 balboa (same parity as the U.S. dollar). We've however the impression that this block is composed of six stamps, each including the name of the country, a vintage year (why 2008 ?) and the initials of the printing company TG&S (Thomas Greg and Sons Limited).
The three types of aircraft composing the Copa Airlines fleet are featured, in duplicate, above : Boeing 737-700 (20 aircrafts), Boeing 737-800 (14 aircrafst) and Embraer 190 (15 aircrafts).
To note that the Post of Panama had already commemorated the 50th anniversary of the company in 1997 with the issue of a series of six stamps.
