Hommage à Oscar Botto en Italie

Do you know Oscar Botto ??
The post office "Micca Biella" in the Italian town of Biella (region of Piedmont) allows us to become better acquainted with him through the special cancellation below, issued on October 15, 2010. Thank you very much Alfredo :-)
This postmark evokes a conference on studies of Indology (study of cultures, history, languages of the Indian subcontinent) and is featuring a portrait of Oscar Botto with a map of India.
Oscar Botto (1922-2008) was indeed an Italian orientalist and historian of religions from Turin, capital of this Piedmont region. He translated from Sanskrit many great Indian epic works, founded the Cesmeo (International Institute for Advanced Asian Studies) and created the Institute of Indology and the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of Turin.

Alfredo has used, top right, two stamps (issued respectively on March 9, 2004 and March 21, 2005) part of two series dedicated to different cities having hosted sport events during the Turin Olympics in 2006. The churches of the two villages of Pragelato (ski jumping, cross country skiing, Nordic combined) and Pinerolo (curling) are depicted here.
The two identical € 0.01 stamps and the € 0.02 stamp are part of the nice engraved definitive series devoted to women through art. This series was first issued in 2002 with the mention "I.P.Z.S. - ROMA" at the bottom and then in 2003, this time with "I.P.Z.S. SpA-ROMA", which is the case on these three stamps.
A detail of a coin dating from the Syracuse period (€ 0.02) and the head of the goddess Hebe by the sculptor Antonio Canova (€ 0.01) are reproduced here.
The last two self-adhesive "Poste Italiane" stamps (€ 0.05 and € 0.10) have been issued on July 1, 2010.
