575 ans de la capitale moldave - Série spéciale

575 Years of the Moldovan Capital - A special stamp issue

Merci beaucoup Sergio :-)
The Post of Moldova had already issued a set of three stamps in 1996 to celebrate the 560th anniversary of the founding of the capital of Moldova, Chișinău.
The first mention of the city indeed dates from 1436 when the Székelys from Transylvania founded here a garrison of soldiers.
On October 13, 2011, the Moldovan Post has issued a new series of five stamps devoted this time to the 575th anniversary of Chişinău.
It's this series that appears on the nice official FDC below (print run : 500 copies only !) whose envelope was designed by Vitaliu Pogolşa.
Thank you very much Sergio :-)

This series, designed by Alexandru Kornienko and devoted to cultural buildings of the city, was in fact issued in a souvenir sheet consisting of five stamps + one vignette, printed at 75,000 copies.
The preview sale of this sheet took place at the National Museum of Archaeology and History of Chișinău, some pieces of its collections having already been reproduced on Moldovan stamps.
The vignette at the top left reproduces a photograph dating from 1900s, of the Chișinău City Hall (featured on a stamp in 1996) and the seal of the city.
The five stamps are depicting the Railways Palace of Culture (L 0.85) that was inaugurated in 1980, the National Ballet and Opera Theatre (L 1.20), dating also from 1980, the National Theatre "Mihai Eminescu" (L 2.00) completed in 1954, the National Palace (L 3.85), a concert hall that opened in 1974 and the cinema "Patria" (L 5.40), a former club of the nobility of Chişinău, rebuilt in 1951.
