Magnifique lettre de Melilla (Espagne)

A beautiful cover from Melilla, Spain

This is of course not the first letter published on this blog coming from Spain but it's the first one mailed from Melilla, a Spanish enclave (since the 15th century) located in north-eastern Morocco. Morocco claims Melilla as well as Ceuta as integral parts of its territory...
Thank you very much Olivier for this nice registered cover mailed on September 12, 2011 with these impressive rectangular postmarks including the words "Franqueo Pagado en Oficina" ("Postage paid in an office").
The stamp to the left (€ 0.27) and its attached coupon are part of a souvenir sheet (3 stamps + 3 vignettes), issued on May 24, 2004, devoted to the International Philatelic Exhibition "España 2004" held from 22 to 30 May 2004 in Valencia.

The theme of this sheet was the monarchy with in particular this stamp featuring the royal couple Felipe and Letizia, married only two days before this issue...
The attached coupon reproduces an oil painting by the Argentine artist Andres Compagnucci showing the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid where took place this royal wedding.
The stamp in the middle (€ 0.29), issued on November 23, 2006, commemorates the 25th anniversary of the publication of Royal Decree establishing the Spanish coat of arms. The central shield recalls the arms of Castile, Leon, Aragon, Navarre and Bourbon-Anjou.
The two permanent "A" stamps (first level domestic rate) in the upper right are part of the same series of eight self-adhesive stamps, issued on January 3, 2011, of which seven are devoted to autonomous regions and territories of the Kingdom of Spain.
Olivier had the excellent idea of using the stamp referring to the autonomous city of Melilla (statute adopted in 1995) with the arms and the contours of the city !
The last stamp (€ 2.00) is part of the new definitive series in Euros, depicting the portrait of King Juan Carlos I, issued on January 2, 2002.
