Emission commune SPM/TAAF - Premier Jour

A SP&M/TAAF joint issue - FDC

In a post published on this blog on December 5, 2011, I shared with you the FDC franked with the nice souvenir sheet (€ 1.10) issued jointly by the Posts of Saint Pierre and Miquelon (SP&M) and the TAAF (French Southern and Antarctic Lands). As a reminder, this was a first between these two French overseas territories.
This souvenir sheet was issued in preview sale on November 3, 2011 at the Salon Philatélique d'Automne held in Paris, where the two postal administrations were present on a joint stand.
I enjoyed my visit at this Philatelic Exhibition in Paris to make the envelope below, stamped with the joint souvenir sheet issued by the TAAF, which has passed through the Kerguelen Islands, where a FDC cancellation was affixed, before leaving for France...

Nearly three months later, I've finally received this cover with the usual rectangular cachet with the longitude and latitude of the permanent scientific station of Port-aux-Français, located on the main island of the Kerguelen Islands.
As a reminder, this souvenir sheet features at its center the escort ship "Forbin", companion of the French Navy's helicopter cruiser "Jeanne d'Arc", in service between 1958 and 1981.
This vessel was chosen for this joint issue because it was off the Kerguelen Islands (TAAF) in January 1978 and close to SP&M in April 1980. Two natural arches of these two territories ("Pointe du Cap Percé" to the left and "Arche of Kerguelen" to the right) are depicted on each side of the "Forbin".
To note the respective signatures of Mark Taraskoff (designer) and Elsa Catelin (engraver) in the top margin of this sheet :-)

I'm publishing once again above the similar letter received previously, franked with the souvenir sheet issued by SP&M.
To note that the two postal administrations had each also proposed to the public, during the Salon Philatélique d'Automne, two FDC postmarks mentioning the city of Paris.
