Art, Histoire et fleurs en Rép. Tchèque...

Art, History and Flowers in Czech Republic...

Very happy to share again with you this beautiful registered letter from Czech Republic, franked with stamps being the best ambassadors of the tradition of engraving in this country.
So a big thank you to Bret for this cover mailed on September 5, 2012 from Prague :-)
I've already widely spoken on this blog about the stamp to the right (20 Kč) being part of the colorful souvenir sheet issued on September 5, 2012, devoted to different species of exotic orchids.
Other flowers, chrysanthemums, are depicted on the other two identical stamps below (2 Kč, issued on May 27, 2011) being part of the current definitive Czech series, entitled "Beauty of flowers".

The last stamp above to the left (34 Kč) was extracted from a souvenir sheet, issued on November 4, 2009, reproducing a work by Czech painter František Ženíšek (1849-1916) entitled "Oldřich and Božena" (1884, National Gallery in Prague).
This monumental painting is one of the most emblematic works by František Ženíšek, influenced by the neo-Renaissance style. But Ženíšek is also known for his many portraits as well as for having participated in the decoration of the National Theatre of Prague (entrance wall, ceiling, curtain).

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 19th 2012, the Czech Post will issue a new souvenir sheet consisting of one stamp (49 Kč), dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the publication of the Golden Bull of Sicily.
In this act, published exactly on September 26, 1212, Frederick I, King of Sicily, then confirmed the royal title obtained in 1198 by the Prince of Bohemia, Ottokar I, declaring him and his heirs, Kings of Bohemia.
I will write more in detail about this issue in a next post. Before that, I was lucky to receive the official FDC above devoted to this souvenir sheet (see below), with the traditional cancellation marks.
