Lettre de Chine - TAD spécial de Tian'anmen

Cover from China - Special postmark from Tiananmen

Very happy to share with you this simple cover from China, sent on February 16th 2013 from Beijing. Thank you very much Kun :-)
The two different cancellations include the words "Beijing" and "Tiananmen" in Chinese characters.
The postmark applied on the stamp features the Gate of Heavenly Peace, a monumental gate which is the southern entrance to the Imperial City (within which the Forbidden City is located).

This gate, associated with the vast Tiananmen Square, is an important symbol in China where many events took place in Chinese history, in particular the proclamation of the People's Republic of China by Mao Zedong in 1949.
A portrait of Mao Zedong appears then on this gate with, on both sides, the words "Long live the People's Republic of China" and "Long live the Great Unity of the World's Peoples".
This gate is also included on the country's coat of arms.
Kun has used a stamp (6 yuan, design by Huang Huaqiang), issued on January 1, 2004, being part of the pretty definitive series devoted to different species of endemic birds, a Yunnan Nuthatch (Sitta yunnanensis) here.
