Canonisation de 2 papes - Émission commune Pologne/Vatican

Pope's Canonization - Poland/Vatican joint issue

Merci beaucoup Kazimierz :-)
This morning took place in the Vatican City, the canonization ceremony of the two former Popes John Paul II and John XXIII, in the presence of the current Pope, Francis, and his predecessor, Benedict XVI.
I've already mentioned on this blog the stamps and miniature sheets issued on April 2, 2014 by the Polish Post, concerning the joint series with the Vatican Post, dedicated to the canonization of the Polish Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
This April 2, 2014 (March 21, 2014 in the Vatican), another joint series was issued by the two countries, a souvenir sheet consisting of two stamps devoted to the canonization of the two popes.
It is that sheet that was used on the letter below posted on April 9, 2014 in the city of Tarnobrzeg. Thank you very much Kazimierz :-)

On the two stamps (5 zł each) of this numbered souvenir sheet (print run : 200,000, design by Marzanna and Jacek Dąbrowscy), the two Popes John Paul II and John XXIII are featured during their pontificate in their white cassock with their red pontifical cape.
That sheet's background refers to the interior of St. Peter's Basilica and in particular under the dome (completed in 1590) with a part of the Latin inscription on the inner periphery which is readable : "TV ES PETRVS ET SVPER HANC PETRAM AEDIFICABO ECCLESIAM MEAM. TIBI DABO CLAVES REGNI CAELORVM" ("You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven").
While most observers know John Paul II, Pope John XXIII (who was beatified in 2000 by Pope John Paul II !) was pope only during 5 years, from 1958 to 1963, but marked many faithful by his simplicity (he was commonly known as "Good Pope John") and the convening of Second Vatican Council that was a turning point in the history of the church.
Among the main contributions of this Council : the abandonment of Latin in the Mass (replaced by the language of each country) or the fact that no man should be prevented or forced to practice a religion...
Now regarded as Saints, John Paul II and John XXIII are celebrated respectively on October 22 and 11.
