Tribute to US painter Joan Mitchell in France

After Edward Hopper in 2012, the French Post has paid tribute to another important American painter, Joan Mitchell (1925-1992), by issuing, on March 31, 2014, a stamp reproducing one of her works.
It is that stamp (€ 1.65, print run : 1,000,000) that appears on the first day cover below with a cancellation from Paris of March 28, 2014. Thank you very much Joël :-)
The postmark, including the signature of Joan Mitchell, was designed by Valérie Besser.
Joan Mitchell was one of the great painters of the second generation of Abstract Expressionism, a movement that was developed in the United States after the 2nd World War and that revolutionized art world by transcribing the thoughts and feelings from abstract and very colorful shapes...

The work reproduced on that stamp, untitled, was painted by Joan Mitchell in 1992, the last year of her life, and is now deposited in the museum of Brou (Bourg-en-Bresse).
This tribute by the French Post is not entirely a coincidence as Joan Mitchell, born in Chicago, spent many years of her life in France, from the late 1950s, in Paris and near Giverny where famous French painter Monet lived.
Joan Mitchell's works are inspired by time, nature, water, sky, flowers... such as this painting that reminds a bouquet's stalk, the blue of the sea and gray clouds.
To note that the USPS had issued in 2010 a stamp reproducing another Joan Mitchell's painting ("La Grande Vallée 0"), in a series of 10 stamps dedicated to great American abstract expressionist painters.
