Buckingham Palace and Machin series in UK

A big thank you David for this attractive letter mailed on February 4, 2015 from Bath with postmarks from the local university's post office :-)
The two horizontal format stamps (1st each) are part of a nice set consisting of 6 stamps and a souvenir sheet (design : Howard Brown) issued on April 15, 2014, dedicated to Buckingham Palace, the official residence of British sovereigns, located in London.
These 6 stamps depict different representations (watercolors and gouaches) of this Palace from the yesrs 1700s and 2014, allowing to apprehend the architectural developments of the building.
Buckingham Palace officially became the principal royal residence in 1837 after the accession to the throne of Queen Victoria.

First known as Buckingham House, the building forming the heart of the current Palace was formerly a mansion built in 1703 by the Duke of Buckingham, John Sheffield, and later acquired by King George III in 1762 to become his private residence.
The two stamps above respectively show a view of the front of the current Palace to the left (a work by Chris Draper specially commisssioned for this issue) and a view dating from 1862 to the right.
David completed his postage with three stamps of the Machin series (profile of Queen Elizabeth II), in a self-adhesive version, being part of a series (9 stamps) issued on January 3, 2013 with slightly revised colors.
The first stamps of this series (designed by Arnold Machin) were issued in 1967 and have evolved until today, in particular with the addition of several security elements (elliptical perforations, "Royal Mail" mentions printed in waves with an iridescent ink...).
