As part of the EUROPA 2015 issues, whose theme is devoted to old toys, the French Post in Andorra has put into circulation, on May 7, 2015, a curious stamp featuring a slingshot ("tirador" in Catalan)...
That stamp features a rustic slingshot, made up of a wooden fork, the ends of which is attached a piece of leather with two elastic.
This type of object allows to send different types of projectiles, mainly pebbles or marbles, and is now considered as a weapon (such as a sling) with regulated use...

Merci beaucoup Olivier :-)
That stamp probably reminds that this type of object was considered as a traditional toy for several generations of children, mainly in the first half of the 20th century.
A toy that however allowed to hunt birds for example... I really find this choice of "toy" very questionable...
It is that stamp (€ 0.95, print run : 60 000), designed by Enric Cardus (layout : Stéphanie Ghinea), which was used to frank the cover above, sent on September 12, 2015 from the Parish of La Massana, located in the west part of the Principality. Thank you very much Olivier :-)

Only two months after his death (on July 1, 2015), the Czech Post has released on September 2, 2015 a special stamp to pay tribute to Sir Nicholas George Winton (1909-2015), a British citizen who organized the rescue of 669 Czechoslovak Jewish children during the second world war.
It is that stamp (13 CZK), designed by Zdeněk Netopil, which appears on the official FDC below from Prague (print run : 4,000), with an engraving on the envelope (by Václav Fajt) symbolizing joined hands and with a star of David.
That stamp depicts a portrait of Nicholas Winton (from a photograph taken in 2007 in Prague) with children and a train in the background.
A big thank you Bret for this FDC and the two other associated documents :-)

Young stockbroker aged 29 in 1938, Nicholas Winton traveled to Prague in Czechoslovakia to help a friend, engaged in rescuing Jews.
He set up an organization in order to save children (669 in total) from a convoy of eight trains from Prague to London in September 1939.
To note that a 9th train, stuck in the Czechoslovak capital following the entry into the war of the United Kingdom, never left the train station and the 250 children on board were never found...
For nearly 50 years, no one was aware of this heroic gesture, until his wife accidentally discovered a leather briefcase containing the names of the 669 children rescued from Nazi barbarism...

In September 2009, a special train called "Winton Train", having on board the children saved by Nicholas Winton in 1939, made the journey from Prague to London.
At its arrival in London, passengers were welcomed by Sir Nicholas George Winton (knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002), then aged 100 years.
A statue in his honor was also unveiled at the central train station in Prague.
To note the commemorative sheet above about that same stamp, with a postmark (slightly different from the FDC cancellation) put into circulation in Prague 1 on September 2, 2015, designed by Zdeněk Netopil.
This sheet (sale price : 30 CZK) was edited only in 2,000 copies (numbered from 0121701 to 0123700).

Bret was kind enough to also send me the First Day sheet above regarding that same stamp.

The first International Day of Yoga celebrated in India

Under the leadership of the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted on December 11, 2014 a proposal for the establishment of an International Day of Yoga, celebrated every year on June 21.
That day aims to raise awareness of the many benefits of the practice of Yoga, an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India.
Allowing to live in harmony between body and mind, yoga is practiced today in various forms around the world, and its popularity continues to grow.

To celebrate the first International Day of Yoga, India Post has released on June 21, 2015 a special stamp (5 Rp), issued in both sheet (print run : 600,000) and a souvenir sheet (print run : 200,000).
Six stamps as well as the souvenir sheet (design : Kamleshwar Singh) were used on the nice cover above sent from Calcutta on September 4, 2015. Thank you very much Alka :-)
That stamp depicts the official logo of this International Day of Yoga (without the slogan "Yoga for harmony and peace").
Alka also used three stamps being part of the definitive series issued in 2009 devoted to "Builders of modern India", Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Chandrashekhara Venkata Râman (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930) here.

Alka was also kind enough to send me the official FDC above regarding that stamp, with a cancellation (design : Alka Sharma) from the city of Lucknow.
This logo symbolizes the perfect harmony between mind and body, man and nature, an holistic approach to health and well-being...
The brown leaves symbolize the Earth element, green leaves symbolize nature and the blue ones symbolize water element, the element Fire and the Sun, symbolizing the source of energy and inspiration, being also included.

Women's European Volleyball Championship in Belgium

For the third time in history (after 1987 and 2007), Belgium hosts (in Antwerp), from 26 September to 4 October 2015, the Women's European Volleyball Championship, organized jointly with the Netherlands.
As host country, Belgium is qualified and participates in this competition (the 29th edition since 1949) for the 8th time, with its best result (bronze medal) obtained at the previous edition in 2013.
The Belgian national team (nicknamed the "Yellow Tigers") is one of the the best women's team sports in the country (with field hockey) and it was worth the issue of a new special stamp !

It is that stamp (permanent "1 Europe" rate, € 1.10 currently) which was used on the first day cover from Brussels above, dated September 7, 2015. Thank you very much Freddy :-)
That stamp, designed by Kris Maes from a photograph showing a player smashing the ball over the net, was issued in a special ball-shaped sheet (5 stamps, print run : 24 298).
16 teams are participating in this championship with a preliminary phase consisting of 4 pools of 4 teams (Belgium being in a pool with Hungary, Turkey and Azerbaijan).
If I'm not wrong, Charlotte Leys is the Belgian player featured on that stamp.
Finally, to note that volleyball was already in the spotlight on a Belgian souvenir sheet issued in 2011 dedicated to different women's team sports.

UNPA special postmark from Sběratel Fair 2015 in Prague

Merci beaucoup Slavek :-)
As it was the case in previous years, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) participated in the 18th edition of the international collectors fair "Sběratel" organized in Prague from 3 to 5 September 2015.
On this occasion, the Czech Post has put into circulation on Saturday, September 5, 2015 (which is as usual the "United Nations Day" at this fair), a special postmark depicting the United Nations emblem.
It is that cancellation (design : Progres Partners advertising), including the words "Poštovní správa spojených národů" ("Postal Administration of the United Nations" in Czech) that was applied two times on this nice letter below. Thank you very much Slavek :-)

The special cachet at the bottom left (designed by the Austrian artist Adolf Tuma) is the one proposed on the UNPA stand during this fair. It also includes the UN emblem as well as the logo of this collectors fair "Sběratel".
After the statue of writer Franz Kafka in Prague in 2013 and a saxophone in 2014 (200th anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Sax), this new cachet is featuring an old postal stagecoach, being part of the collections of the Postal Museum in Prague.
Slavek had the good idea to use a stamp (14 CZK, design : Michal Cihlář) in two copies, issued on October 11, 1995, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations !

Here is above a view of this postal stagecoach that inspired the author of the special United Nations' cachet.

Special air mail transport during the 2015 Sběratel Fair in Prague

I've already mentioned on this blog the prepaid card put into circulation on June 24, 2015 by the Czech Post to announce this flight of the vintage airplane "Praga E-114 Air Baby" carrying airmail on September 5, 2015, the last day of the 18th International Collectors Fair "Sběratel" in Prague.
As a reminder, this special delivery took place between the Točná and Letňany airports in Prague and then the mail had to be carried aboard a vintage car (model "Praga Super Piccolo") to the place of this "Sběratel" Fair.
This flight did take place this September 5, 2015 even if the mail was finally transported aboard a "Praga Lady" vehicle on its arrival at the Letňany airport.

I was so lucky to receive this prepaid card above (domestic rate "A", currently 13 CZK) which traveled aboard that plane "Praga E-114 Air Baby" (pilot : Marcel Sezemský) this September 5, 2015. Thank you so much Bret :-)
Designed by Václav Zapadlík, this card (print run : 5 600, sale price : 18 CZK) is featuring this aircraft "Praga E-114 Air Baby" (flying over the Letňany airport on the illustration to the left) and includes the words "Letecká pošta "("Airmail Post").
To note the postmark to the right (Prague 412 - Modřany) applied at the departure of the aircraft and the special "Sběratel" cancellation (Prague 9) applied at the arrival, the third cachet at the bottom including the mention "přepraveno Letecký" ("transported by air").

This card, which also mentions the exhibition "Praga Piccola" organized as part of this Sběratel Fair, includes a stamp (13 CZK) issued on February 18, 2015, depicting another aircraft, designed between 1910 and 1912 by Metoděj Vlach (1887 -1952).
The video above is devoted to this airmail transport of September 5, 2015 !
To be exhaustive, this aircraft transported a total of 1 775 philatelic items including 1 343 cards of the same type as the one I received above, 187 other postcards, 239 letters and 6 aerogrammes.

With nearly 350 million copies of books sold worldwide (translated into 107 languages !), the French "Asterix" series of comics is one of the most famous in the world.
Called "The Adventures of Asterix" in the beginning, this comic was created in 1959 by writer René Goscinny and cartoonist Albert Uderzo, published for the first time in the magazine Pilote.
After the death of René Goscinny in 1977, Uderzo continued the series alone, replaced from 2013 by Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad...
This series (the 36th album "Asterix and the Missing Scroll" released in France on October 22) features in the year 50 BC a little village of Brittany at the time of the Gauls, pursuing alone the fight against the Roman invaders, thanks to a magic potion prepared by the druid.

The two main characters are the warrior Asterix (small and cunning) and menhir delivery man Obelix (high and strong), both charged by the village of outmanoeuvre Roman or going to support anyone seeking help against the invaders.
On September 1, 2015, the Deutsche Post has released a souvenir sheet (3 stamps) devoted to Asterix and some characters of this comics !
It is that sheet that was used to frank the cover above sent on September 16, 2015 from Lüneburg. Thank you very much Lars :-)
Asterix and Obelix (carrying a wild boar) are depicted on the two € 0.62 stamp while Obelix's dog, Idefix (or Dogmatix), is featured on the low-value stamp (€ 0.21).
Other characters are represented on this sheet : Panacea, Geriatrix (the village elder) and Ms. Geriatrix, Vitalstatistix (the village chief), Getafix (the druid), Cacofonix (the bard), Fulliautomatix (the blacksmith) or Unhygienix (the fishmonger).
To note that the first Asterix books translated in German were published in 1968 and that the two Asterix and Obelix stamps (above to the left) have also been issued in a same booklet composed of 10 self-adhesive stamps (5 of each).

Asterix and his friends have already been honored in France (but also in Belgium or Guernsey) in the past, especially in 1999 ("Stamp Day") to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this comic or in 2009 (50th anniversary) with the special souvenir sheet above.
To note that the design of the stamp (top left) showing the bard Cacofonix, gagged and hanging from a tree, is almost identical to the same character featured on the German souvenir sheet...
The sheet above was special because the menhir carried by Obelix (one of the largest stamps issued in France) was covered with real Brittany stone powder and the stamp showing Dogmatix was considered as the smallest stamp ever issued in France !

Tribute to French actor Alain Delon at the Sběratel Fair in Prague

After Jean-Paul Belmondo (80th anniversary) in 2013 and Louis de Funès (100th anniversary of his birth) in 2014, another popular French actor, Alain Delon, was honored at the 18th edition of the International Fair of collectors "Sběratel" organized in Prague from 3 to 5 September, 2015.
The postal stationery below (domestic Permanent rate 'A', print run : 4,600, sale price : CZK 18) was actually put into circulation during this Fair to celebrate the 80th anniversary (on November 8th to be exact) of Alain Delon's birth, one of the most famous and profitable actors of French cinema (he played in over 90 films).

Thank you very much Slavek for this postal stationary above sent on September 4th, 2015 from this Sběratel Fair :-)
The special postmark (designed by Progres partners advertising), available from September 3 to 5, 2015, is featuring these 80 years of Alain Delon with a revolver-shaped "L" letter, reminding us the many crime thrillers in which he played.
Alain Delon was also the hero of adventure films such as "The Black Tulip" ("Černý tulipán" in Czech), directed by Christian-Jacque in 1964.
It is the poster of this movie, designed in 1967 by Czech painter and graphic artist Josef Vyleťal (1940-1989) for its release in Czechoslovakia at the time, that is reproduced on the left on this postal item.
Slavek also used above a stamp (12 CZK), issued on March 19, 2008, being part of the series "Beauties of our country", devoted here to Ješted mountain (1012 m, northern Bohemia) and in particular to the building built in its top in 1973, consisting of a hotel and a TV broadcasting tower.

Liechtenstein-Slovenia joint stamp issue : the Alps as a habitat

The two postal administrations of the Principality of Liechtenstein and Slovenia have issued (in a dispersed order...) an interesting joint series (2 stamps) focusing on the Alps as a habitat.
Liechtenstein has released this series on September 7, 2015 while Slovenian stamps are curiously issued today, on September 25, 2015.
The two countries have issued this series in a souvenir sheet consisting of 8 stamps (4 of each) with the same illustrated margins (alpine flowers).
A big thank you Jürgen for this beautiful cover sent from Vaduz the first day of issue, franked with the Liechtenstein version of this joint set :-)

The lower margin of the souvenir sheet (blue gentian), referring to this joint issue (in German) appears on the left on this envelope.
These two stamps (CHF 1.40 each), designed respectively from photographs by Tomo Jeseničnik (Slovenia) and Marco Nescher (Liechtenstein), show the splendid scenery of the Malbuntal valley (left) and the Velika Planina plateau (right).
Velika Planina (northern Slovenia) is characterized by its well-preserved herders' dwellings and its traditional wooden architecture houses, with an oval structure for the oldest ones.
Malbuntal valley, composed of pasture and alpine meadows, is mainly agricultural with small houses (called "mayen") but is also popular with tourists, nature lovers and winter sports enthusiasts (Malbun is the only ski resort of Liechtenstein).

Landscape along the Yellow River in China

Merci beaucoup Jia Yi !
A short post to share with you this very nice cover below, sent by registered mail from Shanghai, the first day of issue (August 23, 2015) of a beautiful series (9 se-tenant stamps) devoted to different landscapes observed along the course of the Yellow River (Huang He or 黃河 in Chinese).
Thank you very much Jia Yi !

These nine stamps (total nominal value : 13.20 yuan) have been issued in the same sheet designed by Yuan Jia (Printer : Beijing Postage Stamp Printing Works).
To note the special cancellation from Shanghai representing the course of this Yellow River (5464 km), the second longest in China after the Yangtze, having its source in the Kunlun mountains (west of the country) and flowing into the Bohai Sea in the north-east.
These stamps illustrate this course (from top to bottom) with for example the "Nine Bays", the famous Hukou Waterfalls, Sanjing (Shanxi), the Heluo area or the Zhongzhou Plain.

EUROPA 2015 stamp on a cover from Aland

As in previous years, the postal administration of Aland (Posten Åland) issued (on May 8) a single EUROPA stamp in 2015 whose theme this year is devoted to old toys.
It is that stamp (permanent "Europa" rate, currently € 1.20 - print run : 140 000), designed by Kjell Söderlund, which was used on the cover below sent on September 11, 2015 from Mariehamn, the capital of this autonomous archipelago, part of Finland. Thank you very much Liisa :-)
To note that this stamp, featuring a little monkey's mechanical toy, was printed in sheet of 30 stamps (2x15 stamps separated by a central margin) at the other end of the world (in New Zealand) by Southern Colour Print.

To note that this sheet was printed with several mentions in the central margin (including "apans år", "Year of the Monkey" in Swedish, the official language in Aland) as well as in the outer margins, including the date of issue, a monkey's pictogram or the words "Leksaker från förr" (as above) meaning "toys of the past".
The Post of Aland indeed made use of this EUROPA issue to announce the next Year of the (fire) Monkey which will begin on February 8, 2016...
The toy shown on that stamp, a little smiling monkey with a colourful drum (owner : Marcus Quarnström) acquired at a flea market of the Lions Club in Mariehamn.
Its origin is unclear but it was probably manufactured in the mid 20th century.

"Euromed Postal" 2015 joint stamp from Tunisia : Boats of the Mediterranean

The Tunisian Post joined the organization of the Postal Union for the Mediterranean (PUMed) during a special meeting held in Malta on May 20, 2014.
As a reminder, PUMed was founded in 2011 and currently includes postal operators from 18 countries located directly on the Mediterranean (Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Palestine, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey) as well as Portugal and Mauritania.
Such as Portugal and Croatia, Tunisia participated for the first time this year to the "Euromed Postal" joint series, devoted to the theme of "Boats of the Mediterranean".

It is that Tunisian stamp (1350 millimes, print run : 500,000) that appears on the official FDC above, put into circulation on July 9, 2015. Many thanks Walid for this cover sent from Nabeul on August 28, 2015 :-)
At the exception of Morocco, most of the participating countries (Palestine, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Portugal, Croatia and Tunisia) have actually issued these stamps on July 9, 2015 (reminding July 9, 2007, date of the signing of the first International Convention of the Mediterranean Post).
This Tunisian stamp is featuring a Roman mosaic (2nd century AD) showing a Roman trireme, preserved in the archaeological museum of Sousse.
That stamp allows the Tunisian Post to remind us its links through history with the Mediterranean, especially at the time of the mighty Roman Carthage.

Best EUROPA 2015 stamp (Jury Prize Competition) revealed today !

At last, the big day arrived !
The best EUROPA stamp issued in 2015 (Jury Prize) is officially unveiled today during an official ceremony organized by ProPost (Association for the Development of Philately in Belgium) and PostEurop at the Brussels Town Hall.
The "Grands Prix de l'Art philatélique 2014" will also be awarded at this occasion.
I had the great honor to be part this year of this jury of experts (!) and as such, was invited to attend this ceremony. I unfortunately was not able to be there...

I received this official invitation a few weeks ago inside the envelope above sent from the town of Mechelen (?, the date is not readable) where ProPost headquarters are located.
The stamp used above, issued on March 10, 2014 on the occasion of Women's Day, is very special because it enabled the Belgian Post (bpost) to appear in the Guinness Book of Records !
That stamp (rate "1 World", currently € 1.32), issued in sheet of 5 stamps and designed by Ann Bessemans, actually comprises the largest number of readable words ever printed on a stamp (606 in total).
These different words (in German, English, French and Dutch) are extracted from the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1979.

And here's this official invitation above (cover) and below :-)
The Russian EUROPA stamp issued in 2015 as well as a stamp being part of the souvenir sheet "Grand Place of Antwerp" issued by the Belgian Post on September 8, 2014, are reproduced on the cover above.
To note that this is curiously not the Brussels Town Hall which appears in the background but another beautiful building also located on the Grand Place, the King's House...

If I'm not wrong, the Czech Post is the 8th postal administration to issue a special stamp dedicated to the Postcrossing project since 2011, after the Netherlands, Finland, Belarus, Lithuania, Guernsey, Russia, Slovenia and before Ukraine in October...
To note that the Czech Post, however, had already issued special cancellations referring to Postcrossing in 2014.
As a reminder, Postcrossing is a project created in 2005, allowing its members to send and receive postcards from all over the world.
To date, this website includes about 575,000 members from 214 different countries or territories, but is rather confidential in France.
Over 31 million postcards have been received since 2005 and 450 000 cards are traveling at this exact moment. The most active countries are the USA, Germany, the Netherlands or Russia.

As it was the case last year, a meeting of Postcrossing members took place on September 5, 2015 as part of the international collector's fair Sběratel, held from 3 to 5 September, 2015 in Prague.
It is that new Czech self-adhesive stamp devoted to Postcrossing, issued on September 2, 2015, which was used on the cover above, sent on September 3, 2015 from this Sběratel Fair in Prague. Thank you very much Slavek :-)
That stamp, as well as the special postmark, were designed by graphic artist Maria Noguiera, the author also of the official Postcrossing's logo (founded by Portuguese Paulo Magalhães).
That stamp, simple and with a funny design, is featuring the principle of Postcrossing : writing, sending and receiving a postcard.

A big thank you also Bret for the interesting maxicard above regarding that same stamp (permanent rate "E" for sending a letter up to 50 g to Europe, currently 25 Kč).

Thank you again Slavek for these two cards above (front) and below (back) also sent on September 4, 2015 from this Sběratel Fair.
The card below on the left refers to the Postcrossing meetup in Prague.

Bret was kind enough to sent me the special commemorative sheet below about this new definitive stamp.
To note that no special FDC cancellation has been issued but only this classical hand postmark below with the words "den vydání" ("Day of issue"), Prague and the date of issue of September 2, 2015...

Russia-North Korea joint stamp issue : 70th anniversary of the liberation of Korea

Less than a year after a joint issue between the two countries (birds of prey - the 66th anniversary of diplomatic relations), the two postal administrations of the Russian Federation and North Korea have issued on August 28, 2015, a new joint stamp (the 4th joint issue between the two countries since 2005), this time devoted to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Korean peninsula.
After 35 years of Japanese occupation, the Korean Peninsula was actually liberated in August 1945 after the surrender of the Empire of Japan, and then divided into two zones of occupation administered respectively by the United States in the south and USSR in the north.

During the Japanese occupation, a resistance movement at several levels (cultural, political, military) was set up, embodied in particular by the future North Korean President Kim Il-sung (1912-1994).
This liberation was made possible especially after the Soviet declaration of war and the invasion of Manchukuo by Soviet forces from August 8, 1945.
The Russian version of this joint stamp (19 rubles, design : A. Povarihin, print run : 288,000) was used in two copies on this pretty illustrated envelope (Smolny Cathedral) sent from St. Petersburg on September 2, 2015. Thank you very much Yuri :-)
That stamp is featuring the 60 meters-high Arch of Triumph erected in 1982 in Pyongyang to commemorate the liberation of Korea, but also the 70th anniversary of the great leader Kim Il-sung.
To note that this monument is composed of 25500 blocks of white granite, corresponding to the age (number of days) of Kim Il-sung in 1982...
To note also that the North Korean stamp is a little bit different with this Arch of Triumph depicted under another angle.

Postmark from the Sběratel Collector's Fair 2015

I will speak about soon on this blog but, as it was the case in previous years, many special philatelic souvenirs were issued on the occasion of the 18th edition of the international fair "Sběratel" organized in Prague from September 3 to 5, 2015.
As a reminder, Sběratel is considered as the largest gathering of collectors in Central and Eastern Europe, devoted of course to stamps but also to postcards, posters, coins, phonecards, minerals...
Thank you very much Slavek for this nice special cover sent from this international fair :-)

The special cancellation from Prague above (design : Progres Partners advertising), dated September 3, 2015, shows the logo of this fair "Sběratel".
Slavek used two stamps about which I have already spoken on this blog, being part of a booklet (2 x 4 different stamps) issued on January 20, 2015, entitled "They brought Freedom", devoted to various military vehicles and aircrafts used during the 2nd World War and having contributed to the victory of allies against Nazi Germany.
The two self-adhesive stamps above (permanent rate "A" - domestic shipment up to 50g, currently 13 CZK) are featuring two US motorized vehicles, a Jeep GPW (Ford) and a Harley-Davidson WLA "Liberator" motorcycle.

"Year of the Sheep" ATM stamp from Taiwan

After an ATM stamp (postage label) of the same type issued last year (dedicated to the Year of the Horse), the Taiwanese Post has put into circulation, on August 25, 2015 (year 104 locally), a new ATM stamp about the Year of the Sheep.
As a reminder, the Year of the Wood Sheep (or Goat) began on February 19, 2015 according to the Chinese lunar calendar.

"Euromed Postal" 2015 joint stamp from Morocco : Boats of the Mediterranean

Pending the theme of "Fish of the Mediterranean" in 2016 (and the participation of France for the first time !), several postal administrations (Morocco, Palestine, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Portugal, Croatia and Tunisia) of member countries (20 in total) of the Postal Union for the Mediterranean (PUMed) have issued this year a "Postal Euromed" stamp devoted to the "Boats of the Mediterranean".
Most of these countries released these stamps on July 9, 2015 (reminding July 9, 2007, date of the signing of the first International Convention of the Mediterranean Post), except Morocco with a stamp (9 Dirhams, design : M.Ghassane) put into circulation on August 12, 2015...

The aim of this Postal Union for the Mediterranean is to develop ties of cooperation and partnership between these different countries and to improve the various postal services.
It is this Moroccan stamp that was used to frank the cover above sent on September 1, 2015 from Meknes. Thank you very much Pierre (thank you also for the 4 attached se-tenant mint stamps) !
That stamp (printed in France by Phil@poste) depicts a xebec, a small typically Mediterranean boat of Hispanic-Arabic origin, widely used in the 17th and 18th century (for trade or war) before gradually disappearing during the 19th century...
This boat, with three masts and lateen sails, was characterized by its movement speed and its bow ended with a swordfish shaped spur. It was equipped with 4 to 24 cannons and crew ranged between 60 and 200 men.
To note that this ship was already featured on stamps or ATM stamps in the past, in particular in Spain, Gibraltar, Malta, Bulgaria or Monaco (naval museum, 2001).

The Czech Post started in 2012 (with a booklet consisting of 6 stamps) an interesting series dedicated to classic cars.
This series, as the following ones, reproduced drawings made by Czech artist Václav Zapadlík (born in 1943), who became famous worldwide from the 1990s with his beautiful representations of old cars.
After a second booklet issued in 2013 (Škoda 860 and Škoda 645) and a third one issued in 2014 (Škoda Popular Monte Carlo and Škoda Superb 3000), a fourth booklet was issued on September 2, 2015.
To note that this booklet is the last one issued by the Czech Post, devoted specifically to vehicles of the Škoda brand.

This fourth booklet is composed of two different self-adhesive stamps (each in 4 copies) representing two new classic cars : a Škoda 1201 dating from 1955 and a Škoda Rapid 1500 dating from 1947.
These two stamps (permanent domestic rate 'A' for a letter up to 50g, currently 13 CZK) have been used on the nice cover above (in 3 copies each) sent by registered mail from Prague on the first day of issue.
Thank you very much Bret :-)
A stamp ("Skoda 860") extracted from the similar booklet issued in 2013 is also included as well as the special "Postcrossing" stamp issued on September 2, 2015, about which I will talk soon on this blog.

Bret also sent me the two FDC (print run : 3,600 each) above and below regarding these two new stamps !
The one above, with a cancellation from Prague including the current logo of the Czech carmaker Škoda and the front part of a vehicle, is devoted to the stamp showing the vehicle Škoda 1201.
Two other versions of this car model are depicted on the engraving to the left on this envelope.

The 2nd FDC above, with a FDC cancellation from Mladá Boleslav depicting the "Rapid 1500"'s logo of the time, concerns the stamp showing the vehicle Škoda Rapid 1500.
This same vehicle (rear view) is featured on the engraving to the left on this envelope.
Fyi, the headquarters of the manufacturer Škoda Auto are located in this town of Mladá Boleslav.

Bret was kind enough to send me a copy of the booklet in which these two new self-adhesive stamps were issued :-)

The cover of this booklet above includes to the left a self-portrait of Václav Zapadlík (as well as his signature) and a small biographical text (in English and Czech).
Four other models of classic cars, Škoda Rapid (1947), Škoda Superb (1942), Škoda 1200 (1952) and Škoda Superb (1949), are shown on the right side.
The Škoda Auto brand was created in 1895 under the name "Laurin & Klement" before taking its current name when it merged with the manufacturer of machine tools Škoda in 1925.

Bret also sent me, as usual, the two First Day commemorative sheets above and below regarding these two stamps.
