New "Outbreak of the Battle of Verdun" LISA ATM stamp in France

Before an official stamp issued later this year, the French Post has released on February 21, 2016, a new LISA (ATM stamp) dedicated to the Battle of Verdun, in particular to the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of this terrible battle of the 1st World War, the "Mother of battles" considered as one of the most inhuman conflicts in history...
Designed by Pierre-André Cousin, this LISA (print run : 10,000, rates €0.76 (??) and "Green Letter" here) only available in "LISA 2 thermic paper" version, was used to frank the two covers below, with special postmark from Vacherauville (Department of Meuse) of the first day of issue. Thank you very much Axel and André !

This village of Vacherauville, almost completely destroyed after this Battle, was, from the beginning of the 1st World War, on the front line, defended in 1915 by the 56th and 59th battalions of Light Infantrymen ("BCP" in French - 1200 soldiers) led by Lieutenant Colonel Émile Driant (1855-1916).
These two battalions (mentioned on the postmark) defended in particular the "Bois des Caures" and the village of Vacherauville became their cantonment camp.
The command center of Colonel Driant, located in this "Bois des Caures" is featured to the left on this LISA.
On this February 21, 2016, the 21th German division initiated hostilities and a particularly intense bombing (more than 80,000 bombshells). 90% of French troops died during the 2 days of combat (including Colonel Driant) but their resistance prevented the German advance while awaiting reinforcements.

This battle ended on December 19, 1916 with a French army's victory but a terrible toll on the two sides : 163,000 French dead and 216,000 wounded, 143,000 German dead and 196,000 wounded.
The resistance of the French troops in Verdun was reported worldwide and became, for the entire nation, the symbol of courage and self-sacrifice.
The Verdun Memorial, opened in 1967 and renovated between 2013 and 2016, is featured to the right on this LISA, also including French and German flags.
