Philatelic souvenirs from the International Stamp Exhibition 2016 in Sindelfingen, Germany

The 34th edition of the International Stamp Exhibition ("Internationale Briefmarken-Börse") in Sindelfingen, a town located in south-west Germany (Land of Baden-Württemberg), near Stuttgart, took place from 27 to 29 October 2016.
I was lucky enough to receive the following philatelic souvenirs sent on the first day of this exhibition. Thank you very much Olivier and Franz !
As in previous years, several special postmarks (4 in total) were offered to the public during these 3 days, two of which having been applied on the two covers below.

The cover above is a prepaid envelope (sale price : € 0.90) put into circulation on October 6, 2016 with mention of this philatelic exhibition of Sindelfingen 2016.
The theme of this envelope is devoted to the protection of environment and in particular to renewable energies, with the EUROPA pre-printed stamp (€ 0.70, issued on May 2, 2016).
The special cancellation evokes some of the electric vehicles (Elektro-Fahrzeuge) used each day by the Deutsche Post.

Another special cancellation proposed during this philatelic exhibition was applied to the 2nd letter above, devoted to the "Stamp Day" ("Tag der Briefmarke").
This postmark includes an illustration evoking love letters ("Liebesbriefe") as well as the mention of the philatelic association (6500 members), "LandesVerband Südwest", active in the Lands of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
The stamp (€ 0.70, design : Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler), issued on October 6, 2016, celebrates the 175th anniversary of the writing of the German national anthem "Deutschlandlied", composed in 1841 by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798-1874).
The three verses of this anthem (music by Joseph Haydn composed in 1797) officially became the national anthem in 1922, adopted by the Weimar Republic.
After the German reunification in 1990, only the 3rd verse (written entirely on that stamp, with a Emperor character font) is adopted as the national anthem of all Germany.

Anonyme a dit…

I always liked the German cancellations, because I think they have so plenty of knowledge for all stamp collectors, and they look so good on every exhibit. Catalin
