25 years of diplomatic relations with France - special postmark in Moldova

The Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the French Republic and the Republic of Moldova was formally signed on March 11, 1992, before a Treaty of friendship, understanding and cooperation signed on January 29, 1993.
Other agreements followed, in particular an agreement on cultural, scientific and technical cooperation in 1994.
Trade relations between France and Moldova remain modest at present, even though France is one of the main foreign investors in Moldova, in particular with the companies Orange (telecom), the Lafarge cement manufacturer, the Lactalis dairy group...
Both countries have their respective embassies in Paris and Chișinău.

At a ceremony held on March 10, 2017 (one day ahead !) at the National Museum of History in Chişinău (with an exhibition devoted to this France-Moldova relationship) in the presence of the French Ambassador and the Moldovan Minister of Culture, the Post of Moldova put into circulation a special postmark (the 10th of the same type this year), dated March 11, 2017, to celebrate the 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Designed again by Lilian Iaţco, this cancellation features two emblematic monuments of the two countries : the "Holy Gates" ("Porţile Sfinte") in Chişinău and the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile in Paris.
Thank you very much Nicolae for this envelope above (design : Lilian Iaţco, print run : 5,000) including this postmark from Chişinău (MD-2012), franked with a stamp (L 4.50) issued on November 3, 2010, being part of a series of 2 stamps devoted to the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the national flag and coat of arms.
That stamp, syncopated left and right, was extracted from the miniature sheet including these 2 stamps (3 of each), the stamps of sheets (10 per sheet each) being syncopated top and bottom.

Nicolae used 3 other stamps on the other side of this envelope above, including 2 identical (L 2.50)
being part of a series of four stamps (design : Pál Varga), issued on July 20, 1992, depicting the same supersonic aircraft, with different colors.

The other stamp above (L 1.50) is part of the first definitive Moldovan series (5 stamps) issued on May 24, 1992, depicting the coat of arms of the country.
This "Porţile Sfinte" in Chişinău, called the Arch of Triumph during its construction in 1840-1841 (architect : Luca Zauşkevici), is located between the Cathedral of the Nativity and the seat of the Moldovan government. This 13-meter high building was built to celebrate the victories of the Russian army against the Ottoman troops.
The construction of the "Arc de Triomphe" in Paris (50 meters high), between 1806 and 1836, was decided by the Emperor Napoleon I to perpetuate the memory of the victories of the French armies during the Revolution and the Empire. Under this arch lies the tomb of the unknown soldier, who died during the First World War.

Gentoo Penguin on my first cover from the British Antarctic Territory !

Very happy to share with you this very special letter franked with a stamp put into circulation by the British Antarctic Territory (BAT), this vast territory claimed by the United Kingdom in Antarctica (Graham Land, South Shetland Islands, South Orkney Islands and the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula).
This territory issued its first stamp in 1963 and today issues between 10 and 20 stamps each year often on the theme of fauna, flora, explorers or scientific expeditions in this territory.
The "Airmail Letter" stamp (£ 0.76) used here is part of a series of 6 "Airmail Letter" stamps issued on November 13, 2016, dedicated to the life cycle of the Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua), one of the emblematic bird species of this British territory.

5 stamps (including the same design as this "Airmail Letter" series) were also issued on the same day with an "Airmail Postcard" rate (£ 0.66).
The postmark is very interesting because it emanates from a temporary post office located on the Base Y located in Marguerite Bay on Horseshoe Island, on the west coast of Graham Land.
Until the end of the 1950s, this base housed a scientific British base (established in March 1955).
In collaboration with the United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT), a team was commissioned in early 2017 to survey and restore the buildings of this Base Y, considered as a historic monument since 1995.

This team had the good idea to put into circulation this special postmark on this occasion, February 3, 2017 being the first day of issue !
The cachet above has been applied to the other side of this envelope, including the geographic coordinates of this Horseshoe Island as well as an illustration showing the main buildings of this Base Y.
I do not know who was kind enough to send me this very special cover ?

After a first part (4 stamps) issued in 2014, the Chunghwa Post of Taiwan has put into circulation, on February 23, 2017, a second part (4 stamps) devoted to different Alpine lakes of the country.
After lakes located at high altitude (between 2840 and 3520 meters) in 2014, the four new lakes to be honored in 2017 are located between 2150 and 2790 meters above sea level.
Thank you very much George for this nice official FDC (with a special postmark from Pingtung City, south-western part of the island) regarding this series, each stamp having been printed in sheet of 18 stamps.

The first stamp at the top left (NT $ 5) shows Baishi Lake (2,750 meters above sea level) located between the counties of Hualian and Nantou (center-east of the country). Oval-shaped, this lake is the fountainhead of the Hualian River.
The top right stamp (NT $ 5) represents Wanli Lake (2,790 meters above sea level) located in Hualian County (the eastern mountainous coast of the island), an important sanctuary for local wildlife.
Jialuo Lake (NT $ 10), located in Yilan County (northeast of the island) at an altitude of approximately 2,240 meters, is the largest lake of the Jialuo Lakes network, consisting of marshes, an ideal habitat for hydrophytic plants.
The last stamp (NT $ 12) is devoted to Dagui Lake (2,150 meters above sea level) set in Kaohsiung city (south-western part of the country). This natural lake, often veiled by mist or clouds, is the deepest in Taiwan. It is also known for having the world's largest tree cover of the coniferous tree Taiwania cryptomerioides (one of the largest tree species in Asia).

EUROPA 2017 (Castles) stamp set on FDC from San Marino

After only one EUROPA stamp (Think Green) issued in 2016 by the AASFN (Azienda Autonoma di State Filatelica e Numismatica) of San Marino, the situation returns to normal in 2017 with two EUROPA stamps issued on March 7, 2017, illustrating the theme of castles (Castelli).
A big thank you Salvatore for this beautiful FDC concerning this series !
The First Day cancellation depicts the Second Tower (Seconda Torre) of San Marino, called Cesta, also present on the € 0.95 stamp.

Designed by Antonio Giuffrida, these two stamps (print run : 60,000 each) have been printed by Cartor Security Printing in a sheet of 12 stamps each.

25 years of membership in the United Nations - special prepaid envelope from Moldova

The Republic of Moldova became an official member of the United Nations on March 2, 1992.
In the same year (on November 21), the Post of Moldova issued a series of two stamps devoted to the admission of the country to the United Nations, including the one (12 rubles) added on the prepaid envelope below.
Such as all stamps issued in Moldova between June 23, 1991 and August 2, 1993, that stamp was denominated in rubles. On February 1, 2006, that stamp (among others) was put back into circulation with a nominal value of 12 Lei.
Designed by Ralf Vogel, these two stamps are featuring the flag of Moldova as well as the United Nations emblem in the background, the headquarters of the organization in New York and the Statue of Liberty.

The same UN headquarters in New York are depicted, along with the Moldovan parliament building in Chişinău, on the illustration to the left on the prepaid envelope above issued on March 2, 2017 to celebrate 25 years of Moldova's accession to the UN.
Many thanks Nicolae for this cover, with First Day cancellation from Chișinău (MD-2012), the pre-printed stamp featuring the coat of arms of Moldova and the United Nations emblem.
This envelope No. 01/2017 (domestic tariff L 1.75, sale price : L 3.00) was designed by Lilian Iaţco and printed in 10,000 copies.
More than 20 specialized UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR...) have currently offices in Moldova, the country also participating (approximately 10 soldiers each year) in UN peacekeeping forces in different regions of the world (mainly in Africa).

Nicolae was kind enough to send me the postcard above published by the Post of Moldova (No. 41/2016, print run : 2,000, design : Lilian Iaţco) showing the imposing facade of this same parliament in Chişinău.
The Post of Moldova had already issued prepaid envelopes on the same theme in 2002 (10th anniversary of membership) and 2007 (15th anniversary), a special postmark having been put into circulation in 2012 (20th anniversary).

40th anniversary of Philandorre - FDC from Andorra (French Post)

As a reminder, the Principality of Andorra is the only country in the world to benefit from two postal administrations managed by two distinct countries, with the opening of Spanish post offices from 1928 and French ones in 1931.
The two countries began to issue overprinted Spanish and French stamps these years, with the mentions "CORREOS - ANDORRA" and "ANDORRE" before putting into circulation specific stamps with the words "ANDORRA" (from 1929) and "VALLÉES D'ANDORRE" (from 1932).
The mention "Principat d'Andorra" is now included on the stamps issued by the two countries.
The philately in Andorra is therefore singular and it seems logical that a philatelic association, Philandorre, was created (in 1977) to promote and develop Andorran philately, especially by publishing philatelic and postal studies.

On the occasion of the "Salon Philatélique de Printemps" held in Paris from 9 to 11 March 2017, a stamp was issued to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Philandorre.
This pretty engraved stamp (€ 0.85, print run : 70,000) and its attached coupon, appears on the FDC above with cancellation dated of March 9, 2017. Thank you very much Olivier!
The coupon depicts the logo of Philandorre (original work by Apolline Planque), showing the church of Sant Joan de Caselles, one of the most beautiful examples of the exceptional Romanesque heritage in Andorra, with also some squares bearing the colors of the Andorran flag.

That stamp, laid out by Stéphanie Ghinéa, was printed by Phil@poste in the sheet of 10 stamps above, with dated corner of January 13, 2017.
I really like the original layout of that stamp in this sheet, with 5 stamps with labels on the right and 5 stamps with label on the left, and this imposing central vignette also depicting the logo of Philandorre!
That stamp probably shows the greatest variety and rarity in the Andorran postal history.
A first series of 22 stamps (5 different designs) was issued by the French Post on June 16, 1932, including 5 stamps of different colors (10c, 20c, 30c, 40c and 45c) representing the medieval bridge of Sant Antoni.
The 20c stamp was printed with a light rose color but a small number (at least one sheet of 25 stamps) was erroneously printed in an ultramarine blue color (the color assigned to the 40c stamp).
This variety "20c ultramarine blue" is in the spotlight here!
The same series was completed with new nominal values issued until 1943 (57 stamps in total).

"Fête du Timbre 2017" in France - let's dance with some new FDCs !

Historical transport, architecture and culture on registered letter from Prague

A big thank you Bret for this beautiful new letter sent by registered mail on March 8, 2017 from Prague (main post office 1), franked in part with two stamps (16 and 24 CZK), in 2 copies each, put into circulation on the same day by the Czech Post!
The CZK 16 stamp, on the top right, is part of the series devoted to historical means of transport, to the paddle steamer "Praha" (1865) here.
The other stamp (24 CZK) is devoted to the 120th anniversary of the opening of Straka's Academy in Prague, a university residence (for children of noble and destitute Czech families), seat of the Czech government today.
I will write again very soon on this blog about these two new stamps.

Bret used two other stamps (16 CZK each), in two copies, including the one on the bottom right, issued on May 18, 2016, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the first performance of the comic opera "The Bartered Bride", work by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana (1824-1884).
The last stamp (design : Hana Čápová, engraving : Václav Fajt) was issued on May 30, 2001 for the centenary of the birth of František Halas (1901-1949), considered as one of the most important Czech lyric poets of the 20th century, who was also an essayist and translator.

After the gray wolf in 2015 and the European otter in 2016, the Korean Post has put into circulation, on February 20, 2017, a third series devoted to the country's endangered wildlife, this time to a wild goat species, the long-tailed goral (Nemorhaedus caudatus).
This species lives in the northeast Asian mountains, mainly in China and Russia, with a small population also recorded in the Korean peninsula, about 250 individuals in South Korea, in the north-east of the country (demilitarized zone and Taebaek Mountains).
This species (status : vulnerable according to IUCN) is considered as a natural monument in South Korea (No. 217) and North Korea (No. 293).

Endangered sheep and pig breeds - miniature sheet on cover from Germany

On September 1, 2016, the Deutsche Post issued an interesting miniature sheet (2 stamps) devoted to particularly threatened old sheep and pig breeds in the country, Rhönschaf (€ 0.70) and Deutsches Sattelschwein (€ 0.85).
Carsten Wolff has designed this minisheet in an informative way as it includes the respective characteristics of the two animals (description, distribution, population size and threat status) in the margins.
This minisheet was used to frank this beautiful letter sent on March 7, 2017 from the town of Gütersloh (North Rhine-Westphalia). Thank you very much Jens!
Jens used other stamps including one (€ 0.70), issued on March 1, 2017, devoted to the character created by Otto, Ottifant.

The sheep breed Rhönschaf, originating from the middle mountain region of Rhön (center of the country), is one of the oldest local German breeds.
Yellow-white with a black head without horn, this rustic species, useful for preserving landscapes, had almost disappeared in the 1960s (300 animals), more than 5,400 being bred in 2016.
The Deutsches Sattelschwein is a pig breed from the eastern part of Germany, which is particularly threatened (260 animals recorded in 2016).
The two identical stamps (€ 0.70) at the top left have been issued on March 1, 2017 to celebrate the German presidency of the G20 in 2017. That stamp is featuring the logo of this German presidency, a reef knot illustrating the slogan "Shaping an interconnected world".
Established in 1999, the G20 (a group of 19 countries and the European Union) represents 80% of world trade, two thirds of the world's population and more than 85% of the world's gross product.
The 12th G20 Summit will take place in Hamburg from 7 to 8 July 2017.

25 years of diplomatic relations with Ukraine - special postmark in Moldova

On March 10, 2017, the Post of Moldova put into circulation the 9th special postmark this year dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and other countries, Ukraine this time.
The two countries share a common border (nearly 1000km to the east) with, however, the self-proclaimed territory of Transnistria which separates them on a part of this eastern border.
Relations between the two countries have sometimes been complicated, particularly because of border disputes along the southern border, but a cooperation agreement was signed this year to boost trade (project of railway line between the two countries via Transnistria...) or to strengthen the protection of the ecosystem along the river Dniestr.

Thank you very much Nicolae for this envelope above (design : Lilian Iaţco, print run : 5,000) including this postmark from Chişinău (MD-2012), franked with a personalized L 1.20 stamp (2009 model, printed in sheet of 24 stamps) representing the flags with maps of the 2 countries in background!
This postmark features the top of the column of the Independence Monument (61 meters high), erected in 2001 on Maidan Square in Kiev. A statue of a woman ("Berehynia") with a guelder-rose (kalyna) branch in her arms (this shrub is one of symbols of Ukraine in folk tradition).
The other monument on this cancellation is "Maica Îndurerată" ("Mother of Sorrows"), erected in the "Complexul Memorial Eternitate" in Chişinău to pay tribute to the soldiers who fell during the 1992 conflict between Moldova and Transdniestria.
This "Complexul Memorial Eternitate" was created in 1975 to commemorate the victory against fascism during World War II.

Nicolae used an other stamp on the other side of this envelope above, being part of a series of four stamps (design : Pál Varga), issued on July 20, 1992, depicting the same supersonic aircraft, with different colors.
Such as all stamps issued in Moldova between June 23, 1991 and August 2, 1993, these stamps were denominated in rubles.
On February 1, 2006, these stamps (among others) were put back into circulation (without any surcharge or overprinted mentions) with values denominated in lei...

Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris on FDC from France

On the occasion of the "Salon Philatélique de Printemps" held in Paris from 9 to 11 March 2017, a new stamp has been put into circulation, devoted to the Parisian district of Montmartre, in particular to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the "Moulin de la Galette".
A big thank you Roland for this FDC regarding that stamp (€ 0.73, print run : 1,500,000), created and engraved by André Lavergne, with cancellations from Paris (design : Mathilde Laurent) featuring this same "Moulin de la Galette"!

The windmill Moulin de la Galette is actually made up of two distinct mills, the "Blute-fin" (1622) and the "Radet" (1717).
These two windmills, transformed into Guingettes, initially produced flour to make a rye bread called "galette".

EUROPA 2016 (Think Green) stamp set on cover from Nagorno-Karabakh

Merci beaucoup Serg.
On May 20, 2016, the Postal Administration of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh Post) put into circulation two EUROPA stamps (350 drams each), one of which having been designed from the joint drawing (author : Doxia Sergidou / Cyprus Post) chosen among 24 projects, following a competition organized by PostEurop.
As a reminder, the theme chosen for this year 2016 (coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the issue of the first CEPT-EUROPA stamps) was devoted to Ecology in Europe, with the slogan "Think Green".
I was lucky enough to receive the great letter below sent on March 7, 2017 from Stepanakert, the capital (to note this imposing two-color postmark !), franked with this EUROPA set. Thank you very much Serg.

These two stamps (print run : 14,000 each), printed in Moldova by Nova Imprim, were each issued in sheets of 10 stamps and also in a same sheetlet of 10 stamps (5 of each, print run : 1,400 sheetlets).
It is the bottom part of this sheetlet, with the mentions "EUROPA" and "Think Green" in the margin, which was used on the cover above.
The 2nd EUROPA stamp (left) features the effects of pollution (plant chimneys...) on the environment and climate change with this green landscape (with white birds) transformed into a barren landscape (with black birds)...
As a reminder, stamps issued by this self-proclaimed Republic mainly populated by Armenians, are not recognized either by UPU nor by the European postal organization PostEurop managing (since 1993) these EUROPA issues each year.
This disputed territory between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is not recognized by the international community, is however issuing its own stamps, including the mention "Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh" replaced by "Republic of Mountainous Karabakh" in recent years.

"Tichá pošta - Illustrations for Children" exhibition at the Postal Museum in Prague

Merci beaucoup Slavek !
From 22 February to 21 May 2017, the Postal Museum in Prague is organizing a new exhibition devoted to children's illustrations entitled "Tichá pošta" (an allusion to the "Chinese whispers" game).
This exhibition tells stories (without words) through illustrations for children designed by members of the Club of Illustrators ("Klub ilustrátorů"), some of them having already designed stamps for the Czech Post.
On this occasion, the Czech Post has put into circulation the postal stationery below (permanent rate "E" for a shipment up to 50g to Europe, currently 32 CZK). Thank you very much Slavek!

To note the special postmark (design : Beata Šafková) put into circulation only on February 25, 2017 at the main post office in Prague 1, including the logo of this "Klub ilustrátorů".
The illustration on the left of this postal stationery, created by Eva Sýkorová-Pekárková, seems to evoke the tale of Little Red Riding Hood under a postal point of view...
As mentioned at the bottom left, this exhibition is organized in collaboration with the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius (Národní pedagogické muzeum a knihovna J. A. Komenského) in Prague.

EUROPA 2017 (Windsor Castle) stamp on FDC from United Kingdom

After a break in 2016, the Royal Mail is back this year with a EUROPA stamp put into circulation on February 15, 2017 in a very nice set of 6 stamps devoted to the Windsor Castle (a souvenir sheet of 4 stamps showing the St George's Chapel was also issued).
This series consists of two horizontal bands of 3 stamps (1st Class - £ 0.64 and shipment up to 100g to Europe - £ 1.52) depicting different aspects of this castle, from outside and inside.
A big thank you David for this beautiful cover sent on the first day of issue from the post office of Windsor (the mention "Berks" on the postmark refers to the county of Berkshire) including this complete series, of which that EUROPA stamp at the top right ("The Norman Gate")!

Windsor Castle, one of the residences of the British royal family, is considered to be the largest inhabited castle in the world and the oldest continuously inhabited palace in Europe (built from the 11th century by William the Conqueror).
Windsor Castle today occupies a vast site of 52,000 m2 (Lower Ward, Middle Ward with the Round Tower, Upper Ward) and regroups more than 1,000 rooms.
The Norman Gate, featured on the EUROPA stamp, was built in the 14th century (during the reign of Edward III) and modified in the 19th century, to protect the western entrance of the Upper Ward of the castle.
The south wing of the castle with the "Long Walk", about 5 km long, laid out by King Charles II at the end of the 17th century, and the imposing Round Tower (12th century) in the Middle Ward, are represented on the other two stamps above on this letter.

The other 3 stamps in this series are devoted to various rooms of this castle : St George's Hall (which was damaged during the terrible 1992 fire), The Queen's Ballroom and The Waterloo Chamber, a large room dating from 1830 and dedicated to the military defeat of the French Emperor Napoleon during the battle of the same name...
This room houses many portraits mostly painted by Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830).
The Royal Mail's insert above was included in this envelope, with a view of the Green Drawing Room on the left, a room also affected by the 1992 fire.

25 years of diplomatic relations with USA - special postmark in Moldova

The United States of America officially recognized the independence of the Republic of Moldova on December 25, 1991 before the establishment of diplomatic relations from February 28, 1992.
In March 1992, the Embassy of the United States of America was opened in Chişinău, the Embassy of Moldova in Washington being inaugurated in December 1993.
Since 1992, the United States provided substantial financial assistance to Moldova (over $ 1.4 billion) and are assisting the country in strengthening its democratic institutions, increasing its economic development, securing its borders and its integration with Europe and the Euro-Atlantic community.

At a ceremony held on February 28, 2017 at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Chişinău (with an exhibition of photographs related to this USA-Moldova relationship), the Post of Moldova has put into circulation a new special postmark (the 8th of the same type this year) to celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Designed again by Lilian Iaţco, this cancellation is featuring two emblematic monuments of the two countries : the statue of Stephen the Great in Chişinău (inaugurated in 1928) and the Statue of Liberty in New York (inaugurated in 1886).
Thank you very much Nicolae for this envelope above (design : Lilian Iaţco, print run : 5,000) including this postmark from Chişinău (MD-2012), franked with a personalized L 1.20 stamp (2009 model, printed in sheet of 24 stamps) including the mention "25 years of cooperation" and the colors of the two national flags.

Nicolae used two other stamps on the other side of this envelope above, being part of a series of four stamps (design : Pál Varga), issued on July 20, 1992, depicting the same supersonic aircraft, with different colors.
Such as all stamps issued in Moldova between June 23, 1991 and August 2, 1993, these stamps were denominated in rubles.
On February 1, 2006, these stamps (among others) were put back into circulation (without any surcharge or overprinted mentions) with values denominated in lei...

"Fête du Timbre 2017" in France : Waltz and L'Étoile by Edgar Degas

After salsa and street dance (hip-hop) in 2014, tango and contemporary dance in 2015, charleston and ballet in 2016, dance was again in the spotlight in 2017 during the "Fête du Timbre" or "Stamp Day" (78th edition since 1938), organized on 11 and 12 March 2017 in 88 cities throughout France (in 75 departments).
With this 2017 edition, this four year cycle devoted to dance is over, and a new topic (vintage and rally cars) will appear from 2018 (until 2021 I suppose).
As in previous years, a stamp (€ 0.73) and a souvenir sheet (€ 1.46) were put into circulation this year.

The souvenir sheet and the stamp are included on the First Day Cover above, with cancellations from Morteau (Doubs), designed by Mathilde Laurent.
The beautiful stamp (print run : 1,100,016), created by Stéphane Levallois (from a photograph by Jean Daniel Sudres) and engraved by Elsa Catelin, is featuring a couple dancing waltz (at the Opera of Vienna ?).
That stamp is a pure wonder with these golden inlays and this impression of movement !
Stéphane Levallois had already created for Phil@poste the very nice souvenir miniature sheet dedicated to Vienna (series of European Capitals) in 2014 and the stamp "70th anniversary of 8 May 1945" in 2015.

The souvenir sheet above (print run : 500,000, layout : Marion Favreau), reproduces a work by the French Impressionist painter and sculptor Edgar Degas (1834-1917) entitled "L'Étoile" painted around 1876 (Musée d'Orsay in Paris).
Edgar Degas, with his avant-garde style, created with talent numerous works evoking scenes of modern life such as these dancers of the Opéra de Paris but also horse racing, workers, linen and ironers, brothel scenes...
In the 88 cities involved by this "Fête du Timbre", the local philatelic clubs offered to the public, in collaboration with the FFAP (French Federation of Philatelic Associations), several philatelic souvenirs (2 envelopes and a postcard, illustrated by Claude Perchat).
For example, these 2 envelopes above and below, with that same cancellation from Morteau.

The same for the postcard below, specially edited for the "Waltz" stamp.
I've to admit that the illustrations on these different documents are really kitsch or even old-fashioned, in complete discrepancy with the modernity and creativity of the stamp ... what a pity !

As it was the case in previous years, for a minimum of €8.00 purchased, the postal stationery ("Green Letter" postal rate, limited print run) below was offered for free, with the pre-printed "Waltz" stamp, having kept its "2017" year and nominal value (contrary to the one issued in 2014).

The other side of this postal stationery (below) reproduces the original design of that "Waltz" stamp with the mention "Stamp makes its dance" ("Le timbre fait sa danse") in French.

Update on April 29, 2017 : another First Day Cover with that same postmark from Morteau, but without this damned double cancellation :)
