"Imperial Abbey of Corvey" stamp on cover from Germany

Merci beaucoup Jens !
As already mentioned on this blog, the Deutsche Post is regularly issuing stamps devoted to German sites inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Germany is one of the countries with the most registered sites : 39 cultural sites and 3 natural sites.
Among these cultural sites, the site entitled "Carolingian Westwork and Civitas Corvey" registered in 2014.
Considered as one of the most prominent examples of Carolingian architecture in Europe, this site is in the spotlight on a German stamp (€ 0.70, design: Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler) issued on March 1, 2016, featruring the western wing of the baroque cloister and this imposing "Westwork" on the right.
That stamp was used in two copies to frank the letter below, sent on July 18, 2017 from Bielefeld (North Rhine-Westphalia). Thank you very much Jens!

This Abbey of Corvey was originally a Benedictine monastery located along the Weser river in North Rhine-Westphalia, founded between 822 and 885 by the Emperor Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagne.
According to UNESCO, the Westwork (the name of the monumental west-facing entrance section of a Romanesque church) of Corvey is the only standing structure that dates back to the Carolingian era, while the original imperial abbey complex is preserved as archaeological remains (civitas) that are only partially excavated. Moreover, its architectural articulation and decoration clearly illustrate the role played within the Frankish empire by imperial monasteries in securing territorial control and administration, as well as the propagation of Christianity and the Carolingian cultural and political order throughout Europe.
This historic site was almost entirely destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and then remodeled with a baroque castle, the cloister and gallery of the abbots, the Emperor's room, the state rooms or the residential districts dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.
