Le 22 mars 2019, les deux administrations postales de Slovaquie et Slovénie (vous n'aurez plus d'excuses pour confondre ces 2 pays...) ont mis en circulation une très jolie série commune (2 timbres) ayant pour thème la mesure du temps, à travers 2 pièces uniques dans chaque pays, l'horloge astronomique de Stará Bystrica et le cadran solaire de la Chartreuse de Pleterje.
La version slovène de cette série commune (conçue par le graveur et illustrateur slovaque Jozef Česla) a été utilisée sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 19 août 2019 depuis Ljubljana. Merci beaucoup Petra !
Ces 2 timbres (1,17€ chacun, tirage : 50000 chacun) ont été imprimés (en France par Cartor Security Printing) dans un même feuillet composé de 8 timbres (4 paires).
On March 22, 2019, the two postal administrations of Slovakia and Slovenia (you will not have any more excuses to confuse these two countries ...) put into circulation a very nice joint series (2 stamps) having fot topic the measurement of time, through two unique pieces in each country, the Astronomical Clock in Stará Bystrica and the sundial of the Pleterje Charterhouse.
The Slovenian version of this joint set (designed by the Slovakian engraver and illustrator Jozef Česla) was used on the letter below sent on August 19, 2019 from Ljubljana. Thank you very much Petra!
These two stamps (€ 1.17 each, print run: 50,000 each) were printed (in France by Cartor Security Printing) in a unique sheetlet of 8 stamps (4 pairs).
Honneur à la Slovaquie avec le 1er timbre (ci-dessus à droite) consacré à l'horloge astronomique en bois de Stará Bystrica (nord du pays), l'une des horloges astronomiques les plus récentes et les plus précises au monde, achevée en 2009 et considérée comme la plus grande structure en bois de Slovaquie.
Cette horloge astronomique a la forme stylisée de Notre-Dame des Douleurs, patronne de la Slovaquie, et est ornée de bustes de personnages importants de l'histoire du pays.
La partie astronomique de l'horloge (présente sur le timbre) consiste en un astrolabe affichant les signes astrologiques, les positions du Soleil et de la Lune ainsi que les phases lunaires.
L'autre timbre représente le cadran solaire en bronze et en argent du monastère chartreux de Pleterje (sud-est de la Slovénie), indiquant l'heure exacte lorsque le soleil brille dans la grande cour de cette Chartreuse, fondée au début du 15ème siècle.
Ce site a été reconstruit au début du 20ème siècle, en grande partie en réutilisant des parties de chartreuses abandonnées en France, en particulier ce cadran solaire qui appartenait au monastère de Sélignac (département de l'Ain, non loin de Lyon !), créé par un prêtre, Antonian Berthiaud, à la fin du 19ème siècle.
Honor to Slovakia with the first stamp (above to the right) devoted to the wooden astronomical clock in Stará Bystrica (north of the country), one of the most recent and most accurate astronomical clocks in the world, completed in 2009 and considered as the largest wooden structure in Slovakia.
This astronomical clock has the stylized form of Our Lady of Sorrows, Patroness of Slovakia, and is adorned with busts of important figures in the history of the country.
The astronomical part of the clock (present on the stamp) consists of an astrolabe displaying the astrological signs, the positions of the Sun and the Moon as well as the lunar phases.
The other stamp depicts the bronze and silver sundial of the Carthusian monastery of Pleterje (southeastern Slovenia), indicating the exact time when the sun shines in the large courtyard of this Charterhouse, founded in the early 15th century.
This site was rebuilt in the early 20th century, largely by reusing parts of abandoned Charterhouses in France, including this sundial that belonged to the monastery of Sélignac (department of Ain, not far from Lyon!), crafted by a French priest, Antonian Berthiaud, at the end of the 19th century.
