Hors Inde, il semble qu'une centaine d'administrations postales ont émis ou vont mettre en circulation cette année des timbres consacrés au 150ème anniversaire de la naissance de Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), un record !
Le 30 septembre 2019, la poste polonaise a également mis en circulation un timbre (3,30 PLN, tirage : 120000) conçu par Maciej Jędrysik, représentant un des célèbres portraits de Gandhi (datant de 1931 ici), esquissant un sourire.
Ce timbre figure en 2 exemplaires sur le joli FDC ci-dessous, envoyé le 14 octobre 2019 depuis Varsovie. Merci beaucoup Vera !
Outside India, it seems that a hundred postal administrations have issued or will put into circulation this year stamps dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), a record!
On September 30, 2019, the Polish Post also issued a stamp (PLN 3.30, print run: 120,000) designed by Maciej Jędrysik, representing one of Gandhi's famous portraits (from 1931 here), sketching a smile.
This stamp was used in two copies on the nice FDC below, sent on October 14, 2019 from Warsaw. Thank you very much Vera!
A noter sur ce TAD Premier Jour la présence d'un rouet ("Charkha") utilisé pour filer du coton, l'instrument emblématique de Gandhi contre la tutelle britannique. Dès 1921 il incita son peuple à ne plus acheter d'habits en provenance de l'étranger au profit de ceux produits localement et donna l'exemple en filant lui-même le coton sur plusieurs types de rouets.
Le Mahatma Gandhi, né en 1869 à Pordanbar (état du Gujarat), surnommé le "Père de la Nation" en Inde, fut un des pionniers du mouvement d'indépendance du pays, prônant la désobéissance, la non-violence et le concept du "swaraj" (autodétermination). Le 30 janvier 1948, en chemin vers une réunion de prière, Gandhi est assassiné à New Delhi par un hindou nationaliste.

From 1921 he urged his people not to buy clothes from abroad for the benefit of those produced locally and gave the example by spinning himself on several types of spinning wheels.
