Comme une trentaine d'autres administrations postales, l'OETP de Monaco a commémoré le 50ème anniversaire du premier pas de l'homme sur la Lune en émettant, le 5 juillet 2019, un timbre (1,00€, tirage : 45000) conçu par Joël Tchobanian.
Ce timbre, imprimé par Phil@poste en feuillet de 10 timbres, figure sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 14 novembre 2019 depuis Monte-Carlo.
A noter en bas à gauche ce cachet spécial mis en circulation pendant le 73ème Salon Philatélique d'Automne organisé du 7 au 9 novembre 2019 à Paris. Ce cachet représente la célèbre façade de la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, avec sa flèche, ravagée par un terrible incendie le 15 avril 2019...
Le 20 juillet 1969, pour la première fois dans l'histoire de l'humanité, deux astronautes américains, Neil Armstrong et Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, ont en effet marché sur la Lune.
Like about thirty other postal administrations, the OETP of Monaco commemorated the 50th anniversary of the man's first step on the Moon by issuing, on July 5, 2019, a stamp (€ 1.00, print run: 45,000) designed by Joël Tchobanian.
This stamp, printed by Phil@poste in sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on the letter below sent on November 14, 2019 from Monte Carlo.

On July 20, 1969, for the first time in the history of humanity, two American astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, indeed walked on the Moon.
Cinq jours plus tôt, dans le cadre de la mission Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin et Michael Collins décollaient à bord d'une fusée Saturn-V du Kennedy Space Center en Floride, entrant en orbite lunaire le 19 juillet 1969.
Ce timbre a été conçu à partir d'une photographie désormais célèbre montrant l'astronaute Buzz Aldrin marchant à la surface de la lune, près de la jambe du module lunaire Eagle (non représentée ici) pendant cette mission Apollo 11.
Le commandant de la mission, Neil Armstrong, a pris cette photo avec une caméra de surface lunaire de 70 mm. Tandis qu'Armstrong et Aldrin exploraient la région lunaire de la mer de la Tranquillité, Michael Collins restait dans le module de commande en orbite.
Cette photographie a été adaptée pour ce timbre, avec ajout de la planète Terre dans le fond, ce qui donne un ensemble graphique peu lisible à mon goût...
Five days earlier, as part of the Apollo 11 mission, Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins took off aboard a Saturn-V rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, entering lunar orbit on July 19, 1969.
This stamp was designed from a now famous photograph showing astronaut Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon's surface near the leg of the lunar module Eagle (not depicted here) during the Apollo 11 mission.
Mission commander Neil Armstrong took this photograph with a 70mm lunar surface camera. While Armstrong and Aldrin explored the Sea of Tranquility region of the moon, Michael Collins remained with the command and service modules in lunar orbit.
This photograph has been adapted for this stamp, with the addition of the planet Earth in the background, which gives a questionable graphical result in my opinion...
