50 ans de service national - FDC de Singapour

Le 14 mars 1967, le parlement de Singapour adoptait un amendement instituant la création d'un service national obligatoire (pour les hommes à partir de 18 ans), 2 ans après l'indépendance du pays et suite à l'annonce du retrait des troupes britanniques.
L'objectif était de permettre à ce nouveau pays de pouvoir se défendre par lui-même, sans dépendre d'autres pays en cas de crise, mais également de renforcer l'unité nationale.
50 ans jour pour jour après, le 14 mars 2017, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une série (5 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet), consacrée à la création de ce service national (NS), intitulée "NS50 - de ma génération à la tienne".
Un grand merci Terence pour cet intéressant FDC officiel ci-dessous concernant la série de 5 timbres, envoyé en recommandé depuis le bureau postal de Shenton Way (sud de l'île principale) !
On March 14, 1967, the Parliament of Singapore adopted an amendment about the creating of a compulsory National Service (for men aged 18 and over), two years after the independence of the country and following the announcement of the withdrawal of the British troops.
The objective was to enable this new country to defend itself, without depending on other countries during a crisis, but also to strengthen national unity.
50 years to the day after, on March 14, 2017, the Singapore Post put into circulation a series (5 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) dedicated to the creation of this National Service (NS), entitled "NS50 - From my generation to yours".
A big thank you Terence for this interesting official FDC below regarding this set of 5 stamps, sent by registered mail from the Shenton Way Post Office (southern part of the main island)!

A noter également sur cette enveloppe, en plus des TAD Premier Jour, ce cachet avec la mention "50 ans de service national 1967-2017" en anglais.
Ces 5 timbres (conception : Leo Teck Chong), imprimés en version gommée et autocollante (10 timbres par feuille), évoquent les principales étapes de la mise en place de ce service national, en particulier cet amendement de 1967 sur le 1er timbre (1st Local), montrant un portrait du Premier Ministre de l'époque, Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015), au pouvoir jusqu'en 1990 et qui a permis à Singapour d'être une des économies les plus florissantes de la planète.
Ce timbre est le 1er émis à Singapour avec son portrait et a été très prisé des collectionneurs singapouriens !
Les autres timbres sont consacrés aux premières incorporations de ces militaires en service national (National Servicemen Full-time ou NSFs) au sein des forces armées de Singapour (Singapore Armed Forces ou SAF) en 1967, au sein des forces de police (Singapore Police Force ou SPF) en 1975, au sein de la défense civile (Singapore Civil Defence Force ou SCDF) en 1981, ainsi que la création d'un système de mobilisation ouvert en 1985.
To note also on this envelope, in addition to the FDC cancellations, this cachet with the mention "50 years of National Service 1967-2017".
These 5 stamps (design : Leo Teck Chong), printed in gummed and self-adhesive version (10 stamps per sheet), mention the main stages of the establishment of this National Service, in particular this 1967 amendment on the 1st stamp (1st Local), depicting a portrait of the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015), in power until 1990, who allowed Singapore to become one of the most flourishing economies on the planet.
That stamp is the first one issued in Singapore with his portrait and has been very popular with Singaporean collectors!
The other stamps are devoted to the first batches of these National Servicemen Full-time (NSFs) enlisted into the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1967, into the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1975, into the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) in 1981, as well as the inctroduction of an Open Mobilisation System in 1985.

Comme les années précédentes, je suis heureux de partager avec vous le FDC officiel de la poste de Singapour ci-dessous consacré à la nouvelle année du coq (de feu) d'après le calendrier lunaire chinois.

A noter l'élégant TAD Premier Jour incluant une tête de coq ainsi que le cachet spécial en bas à gauche concernant le festival "River Hongbao" organisé du 26 janvier au 4 février 2017.
Ce festival a lieu chaque année depuis 1987 et propose au public de nombreuses activités liées aux célébrations de la nouvelle année lunaire.

To note the elegant FDC cancellation featuring a rooster's head as well as the special cachet at the bottom left about the "River Hongbao" Festival organized from January 26 to February 4, 2017.
This festival, held annually since 1987, offers to the public many activities related to the celebrations of the Lunar New Year.

La SingPost a à nouveau fait appel à Leo Teck Chong pour concevoir cette série de 3 timbres (ci-dessus) ainsi qu'un bloc-feuillet (2 timbres), ce dernier (imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing) incluant un vernis brillant et un effet le faisant briller dans le noir...
L'année 2017 (à partir du 28 janvier) est donc sous le signe du coq (le 10ème animal du cycle) associé à l'élément "feu".
D'après l'astrologie chinoise, les caractéristiques de chaque signe révèlent la personnalité des personnes mais aussi leurs vies ou les évènements se produisant dans l'année. Ainsi, les individus nés sous le signe du coq de feu sont intelligents, travailleurs, fiables et font tout pour atteindre leurs objectifs.
Parmi les personnalités célèbres nées sous le signe du coq : Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake ou Benjamin Franklin.
The SingPost has again appealed to Leo Teck Chong to design this series of 3 stamps (above) as well as a souvenir sheet (2 stamps) printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, including a shiny varnish and glowing in the dark...
The year 2017 (from January 28th) is thus under the sign of the Rooster (the 10th animal of the cycle) associated with the element "fire".
According to Chinese astrology, the traits of each sign shape the personality of people but also their lives or the events occurring in the year. Thus, people born under the sign of the fire rooster are intelligent, hardworking, reliable and do everything to achieve their goals.
Among the famous personalities born under the sign of the rooster : Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake or Benjamin Franklin.

Pendant les 10 jours de ce festival "River Hongbao", la SingPost proposait au public 10 oblitérations spéciales chaque jour dont celle appliquée sur l'autre côté de ce FDC ci-dessus, mise en circulation le dernier jour, le 4 février 2017.
J'aime beaucoup ce TAD montrant une poule avec 3 petits, symbole de chance et de prospérité pour toute la famille !
During the 10 days of this "River Hongbao" Festival, the SingPost offered to the public 10 special cancellations each day including the one applied on the other side of this FDC above, put into circulation on the last day, February 4, 2017.
I really like this postmark showing a mother chicken with 3 young chicks, a symbol of luck and prosperity for the whole family!

Pour rappel, ces 2 timbres (1,30$ chacun, conception : Leo Teck Chong) ont pour thème la poterie et la céramique à travers des réalisations de 2 des plus grands céramistes des 2 pays : Iskandar Jalil (Singapour) et Toyozō Arakawa (Japon).
After the Japanese version of this joint stamp series, I'm pleased to share with you this very nice official FDC below concerning the two Singapore-Japan joint stamps, issued on November 29, 2016 in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

A noter cette intéressante oblitération mécanique du 29 novembre 2016 avec ce slogan consacré à la Giving Week, une opération nationale à Singapour, organisée du 29 novembre au 5 décembre 2016, incitant les entreprises, les associations et les particuliers à donner de leur temps ou de leur argent pour les autres, afin de faire de Singapour une "ville du bien".
The FDC cancellation, as well as the illustration on this envelope, are featuring the emblematic flowers of the two countries, the orchid "Vanda Miss Joaquim" for Singapore and cherry blossoms (sakura) for Japan.
To note this interesting mechanical cancellation of November 29, 2016 with this slogan devoted to the Giving Week, a national movement in Singapore, organized from 29 November to 5 December 2016, encouraging companies, associations and individuals to donate their time or their money for others, in order to make Singapore a "City of Good".

Afin de célébrer le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre le Japon et Singapour, les administrations postales des 2 pays ont mis en circulation, le 29 novembre 2016, une série commune de 2 timbres consacrée à la poterie et à la céramique à travers deux grands artistes, Iskandar Jalil (Singapour) et Toyozō Arakawa (Japon).
Cette émission commune a en particulier été dévoilée à Tokyo lors de la visite officielle du président de Singapour, Tony Tan.
Comme souvent concernant les émissions communes, la poste japonaise a émis ces 2 timbres communs dans un feuillet composé également de 8 autres timbres ayant pour thème Singapour (gastronomie, flore, patrimoine culturel, paysages urbains, Merlion).
In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore, the postal administrations of the two countries put into circulation on 29 November 2016 a joint series of two stamps devoted to pottery and ceramics through two great artists, Iskandar Jalil (Singapore) and Toyozō Arakawa (Japan).
This joint issue was unveiled in Tokyo during the official visit of the President of Singapore, Tony Tan.
As it is often the case with joint issues, the Japanese Post has issued these two joint stamps in a sheet also composed of 8 other stamps devoted to Singapore (gastronomy, flora, cultural heritage, urban landscapes, Merlion).

Ces 2 timbres communs japonais (82 yen chacun) sont inclus dans la partie supérieure de ce feuillet, utilisé à gauche sur cette impressionnante lettre ci-dessus, envoyée le 1er jour d'émission (date du 28 novembre 2016 ?) depuis la ville de Wakayama (située dans la partie sud de l'île d'Honshū). Merci beaucoup Tomoko !
Ces TAD rouges montrent la tête du célèbre Merlion, le symbole de Singapour, également présent dans la marge à droite sur ce feuillet, incluant également la fleur nationale (orchidée Vanda Miss Joaquim), la statue de Thomas Stamford Raffles (le fondateur de Singapour) ou une évocation de Gardens by the Bay ("Supertree Grove").
Le Merlion est également présent sur un des 2 autres timbres à droite, l'autre montrant une vue de nuit de Raffles Place avec ses buildings modernes et le Fullerton Hotel Singapore.
Les oeuvres du céramiste japonais Toyozō Arakawa (1894-1985), "Trésor national vivant" au Japon, évoquent souvent la cérémonie du thé, comme les 2 récipients sur le timbre commun à droite.
L'autre timbre représente une oeuvre d'Iskandar Jalil (né en 1940), un des plus grands céramistes modernes à Singapour, influencé en particulier par la poterie japonaise.
These 2 Japanese joint stamps (82 yen each) are included in the upper part of this sheet, used on the left on this impressive cover above, sent on the first day of issue (date of November 28, 2016 ?) from the city of Wakayama (located in the southern part of the island of Honshū). These red cancellations show the head of the famous Merlion, the symbol of Singapore, also present in the right margin on this sheet, also including the national flower (Orchid "Vanda Miss Joaquim"), the statue of Thomas Stamford Raffles (the founder of Singapore) and an evocation of Gardens by the Bay ("Supertree Grove").
The Merlion is also present on one of the other two stamps on the right, the other one showing a night view of Raffles Place with its modern buildings and the Fullerton Hotel Singapore.
The works of the Japanese ceramist Toyozō Arakawa (1894-1985), "Living National Treasure" in Japan, often evoke the tea ceremony, as the two containers on the joint stamp on the right.
The other stamp is featuring a work by Iskandar Jalil (born in 1940), one of the greatest modern ceramists in Singapore, influenced in particular by Japanese pottery. 
 

"Religious Festivals" stamp set on FDC (Return to sender) from Singapore

Série "Fêtes religieuses" sur FDC (retour à l'envoyeur) de Singapour

La poste de Singapour avait déjà mis en circulation en 2010 une série de 8 timbres consacrée à quatre festivals importants liés aux différentes communautés religieuses et spirituelles composant ce pays multiethnique (chinois, malais, indiens principalement).
Cette série concernait 4 festivals, déclinés chacun en 2 timbres : la nouvelle année lunaire chinoise, les fêtes de Noël célébrées par les catholiques autour de la naissance du Christ, la fête musulmane d'Hari Raya Aidilfitri (ou Eid ul-Fitr) célébrée chaque année à la fin du Ramadan et Deepavali, ou "festival des lumières", célébré par les communautés hindoues et sikhs à travers le monde (à partir du 30 octobre cette année).
The Singapore Post had already released a series of eight stamps in 2010, devoted to four important festivals associated with the various religious and spiritual communities (mainly Chinese, Malay and Indian) that make up this multiethnic country.
The series dealt with four festivals, each with 2 stamps : Chinese Lunar New Year, Christmas festivities celebrated by Catholics around the birth of Jesus Christ, Hari Raya Aidilfitri (or Eid ul-Fitr), a Muslim festival celebrated each Year at the end of Ramadan and Deepavali, or Festival of Lights, celebrated by Hindu and Sikh communities around the world (from October 30 this year).

Le 19 octobre 2016, une série similaire a été émise à Singapour, composée de 8 timbres, 2 (1st Local et 70c) pour chaque festival, consacrée à ces mêmes 4 festivals.

Terence a eu la bonne idée de m'adresser cette lettre pensant que je disposais d'une boîte postale dans le bureau du père Noël en Finlande ;)
On October 19, 2016, a similar series was issued in Singapore, consisting of 8 stamps, 2 (1st Local and 70c) for each festival, devoted to these same 4 festivals.

Terence had the good idea to send me this letter thinking that I had a Post Box at the Santa Claus main post office in Finland ;)

Cette lettre m'a donc été retournée (mon adresse réelle figurant au dos de cette enveloppe ci-dessus).
Je ne suis pas arrivé à déchiffrer l'empreinte apposée le 8 novembre 2016 sur le recto de cette lettre, ni à quoi correspond cette vignette autocollante "K 1366" ?
Je suppose que la poste finlandaise a procédé ainsi à réception de ce pli, de même pour cette étiquette rose classique ci-dessus (avec la case "Non réclamé" cochée, en date du 11 novembre 2016) apposée sur les plis avec "retour à l'envoyeur"...
Malheureusement, comme mentionné en haut à gauche (malgré la consigne de Terence !), l'employé de la poste n'a pas trouvé de place sur ce verso pour appliquer un TAD spécial...
This letter was returned to me (my actual address being written on the back of this envelope above).
I did not manage to decipher the inkprint applied on the front of this letter on November 8, 2016, nor what that self-adhesive sticker "K 1366" is meaning ?
I guess that the Finnish Post proceeded like that on receipt of this cover, in the same way for this classic pink label above (with the mention "Unclaimed" checked, dated November 11, 2016) affixed on the "return to sender" covers...
Unfortunately, as mentioned in the top left (despite Terence's instructions !), the postman did not find any place on this envelope's reverse to apply a special cancellation... 
 

Singapore-Pakistan 2016 joint stamp issue : national flowers

Émission commune Singapour-Pakistan 2016 : fleurs nationales

Le 17 août 1966, Singapour et Pakistan établissaient officiellement des relations diplomatiques, un an après l'indépendance de Singapour.
A noter qu'avant cette date, le Pakistan rejetait la décision de Singapour de quitter la fédération de Malaisie et de devenir un état à part entière...
Depuis 50 ans, les 2 pays (membres du Commonwealth) entretiennent de bonnes relations économiques (Singapour est un des premiers investisseurs étrangers au Pakistan), humanitaires ou militaires.
Afin de célébrer ces 50 ans de relations diplomatiques, les administrations postales des 2 pays ont mis en circulation, le 18 octobre 2016, une série commune de 2 timbres ayant pour thème les fleurs nationales.
On August 17, 1966, Singapore and Pakistan officially established diplomatic relations, one year after Singapore's independence.
It should be noted that before that date, Pakistan rejected the decision of Singapore to leave the Malaysian Federation and to become a state in its own right...
For 50 years, the two countries (Commonwealth of Nations members) have good economic (Singapore is one of the first foreign investors in Pakistan), humanitarian or military relations.
In order to celebrate these 50 years of diplomatic relations, the postal administrations of the two countries have put into circulation, on October 18, 2016, a joint series of two stamps devoted to the theme of national flowers.

Ces 2 timbres (1,30$ chacun, conception : Ivory Seah, imprimés en feuillet de 10 timbres), avec le traditionnel Merlion dans le coin en haut à droite, représentent une fleur de jasmin blanc (Jasminum officinale), fleur nationale du Pakistan, et l'orchidée Vanda Miss Joaquim, fleur nationale de Singapour depuis 1981.

These two stamps ($ 1.30 each, design : Ivory Seah, printed in sheet of 10 stamps), with the traditional Merlion in the upper right corner, are featuring a white jasmine (Jasminum officinale) flower, national flower of Pakistan, and the orchid Vanda Miss Joaquim, the national flower of Singapore since 1981.

J'ai également eu la chance de recevoir le FDC officiel ci-dessus (avec TAD de la ville d'Hyderabad) avec la version pakistanaise de cette série commune. Merci beaucoup Ali !
La poste pakistanaise annonce curieusement un autre concepteur pour ces 2 timbres (Rs 8 chacun), Naveed Awan mais je suppose qu'il a conçu le timbre "jasmin" et qu'Ivory Seah à conçu l'autre timbre...
Ces 2 timbres (tirage : 200000, imprimés en feuille de 32 timbres) sont pratiquement identiques, le Merlion sur le timbre "jasmin" ayant été remplacé par le drapeau du Pakistan (à l'envers ?).
A noter cette empreinte "Say no to corruption" appliquée en haut à gauche sur cette enveloppe !

The Pakistan Post is curiously announcing another designer for these two stamps (Rs 8 each), Naveed Awan, but I guess he designed the stamp "jasmine" and Ivory Seah designed the other stamp...
These two stamps (print run : 200,000, printed in sheet of 32 stamps) are practically identical, the Merlion on the stamp "jasmine" having been replaced by the flag of Pakistan (upside down ?).
To note this "Say no to corruption" inkmark applied at the top left on this envelope !

Ali a également utilisé 2 autres sets de cette émission commune sur l'autre côté de cette enveloppe ci-dessus, incluant 3 oblitérations différentes d'Hyderabad appliquées les 27 et 28 octobre 2016.
Un 5ème timbre (Rs 2) figure également ci-dessus, faisant partie d'une série de 3 timbres émise le 14 août 2003 à l'occasion de la 56ème journée de l'indépendance (évoquant la création du Dominion du Pakistan le 14 août 1947 suite à la Partition des Indes).
Ce timbre est consacré à l'homme politique Muhamad Yusuf Khan Khattak (1917-1991), membre de la Ligue musulmane puis du Parti du peuple pakistanais et figure du mouvement d'indépendance du pays.
Ali also used two other sets of this joint issue on the other side of this envelope above, including three different cancellations from Hyderabad applied on 27 and 28 October 2016.
A fifth stamp (Rs 2) is also included above, being part of a series of three stamps issued on August 14, 2003 on the occasion of the 56th Independence Day (referring to the creation of the Dominion of Pakistan on August 14, 1947 following the Partition of British India).
That stamp is devoted to politician and lawyer Muhamad Yusuf Khan Khattak (1917-1991), a member of the Muslim League and then of the Pakistan People's Party and figure of the country's independence movement. 
 

World Post Day 2016 both celebrated in Singapore and at UPU headquarters in Bern !

Journée mondiale de la poste 2016 célébrée à Singapour et au siège de l'UPU à Berne !

La Journée mondiale de la poste est célébrée chaque année le 9 octobre (depuis 1969) afin de marquer la date anniversaire de la fondation de l'Union Postale Universelle (UPU) en 1874 à Berne en Suisse.
D'après l'UPU, "l'objectif de cette Journée est de sensibiliser les citoyens et les entreprises au rôle de la poste dans leur vie quotidienne et de sa contribution au développement socio-économique des pays".
Ayant pour thème "Innovation, intégration et inclusion", cette journée mondiale de la poste 2016 a été célébrée dans de nombreux pays, y compris à Singapour où, comme de coutume, une flamme postale incluant une illustration spéciale (lettres autour d'un globe terrestre) a été mise en circulation.
World Post Day is celebrated each year on October 9th (since 1969) to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland.
According to the UPU, "the purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries". 
With the theme "Innovation, integration and inclusion", this World Post Day 2016 was celebrated in many countries, including Singapore, where, as usual, a World Post Day slogan design including a special illustration (letters around a globe) was put into circulation.

C'est cette oblitération mécanique (émise dans le centre de tri C2 de Paya Lebar) qui a été appliquée sur la lettre ci-dessus le 10 octobre 2016. Merci beaucoup Terence !
Le 9 octobre tombant cette année un dimanche, cette flamme était proposée au public du 10 au 14 octobre 2016.
Terence a utilisé un timbre (70c) faisant partie de la série (4 timbres) émise le 21 septembre 2016, consacrée à différentes espèces de rapaces recensées dans le pays, un pygargue blagre (Haliaeetus leucogaster) ici.
A l'occasion des fêtes de Dipavali, des tarifs postaux réduits étaient en effet en vigueur entre le 8 et le 29 octobre 2016, par exemple 70c pour une lettre jusqu'à 40g vers l'étranger (hors Malaisie et Brunei) au lieu de 1,30$ pour une lettre identique jusqu'à 20g habituellement !
This mechanical cancellation (issued in the sorting center C2 in Paya Lebar) was applied on the letter above on October 10, 2016. Thank you very much Terence !
October 9 this year falling on a Sunday, this cancellation was proposed to the public from 10 October 2016 to 14 October 2016.
Terence used a stamp (70c) being part of the series (4 stamps) issued on September 21, 2016, devoted to different species of birds of prey living in the country, a White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) here.
On the occasion of celebrations of Deepavali, festive postage rates were indeed offered between 8 October 2016 and 29 October 2016, for example 70c for a letter up to 40g sent to anywhere in the world (excluding Malaysia and Brunei) instead of $ 1.30 for a same letter up to 20g usually !

Terence a eu la bonne idée d'adresser cette lettre à une boîte postale fictive au siège de l'UPU à Berne en Suisse (avec mon adresse réelle pour le renvoi au verso de l'enveloppe ci-dessus).
A noter ce TAD  du 9 octobre 2016 apposé par le centre de tri situé à Paya Lebar (est du pays) où transitent toutes les lettres postées sur le territoire de Singapour.
Avant de renvoyer cette lettre à mon adresse, l'UPU a eu aussi la bonne idée d'apposer (sur les 2 côtés de l'enveloppe) cet imposant cachet bleu représentant l'emblème de l'UPU, inspiré par le monument de l'UPU ("Weltpostdenkmal") situé à Berne depuis 1909, symbolisant les 5 continents se transmettant des messages autour du globe !
Terence had the good idea to send this letter to a fictitious postal box at UPU headquarters in Bern, Switzerland (with my actual postal address for the return-to-sender on the reverse of the envelope above).
To note this postmark dated October 9, 2016 applied by the sorting mail center in Paya Lebar (east of the country) where all letters posted in the territory of Singapore are passing through.
Before sending back this letter to my real address, the UPU had also the good idea to affix (on the two sides of the envelope) this imposing blue cachet depicting the UPU's emblem, inspired by the monument of UPU ("Weltpostdenkmal") located in Bern since 1909, symbolizing the five continents joining to transmit messages around the globe !

Curieusement, aucune empreinte du type "retour à l'envoyeur" n'a été apposée sur cette lettre, reçue à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe officielle de l'UPU ci-dessus, envoyée le 17 octobre 2016 de Berne...
Curiously, no "return to sender" inkmark has been applied on this letter, received inside the official UPU envelope above, sent from Bern on October 17, 2016...

Le 21 septembre 2016, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une nouvelle série (4 timbres) consacrée à différentes espèces de rapaces recensées dans le pays.
Conçue par Lim An-ling, cette série représente chaque oiseau en gros plan ou en vol ainsi qu'un pictogramme blanc de la silhouette de l'espèce en vol.
A noter que les noms latins de ces espèces ne sont pas mentionnés sur ces timbres (uniquement le nom en anglais)...

On September 21, 2016, the Post of Singapore has released a new series (4 stamps) devoted to different species of birds of prey registered in the country.
Designed by Lim An-ling, this series is featuring each bird in close up view or in flight as well as a white symbol of the silhouette of the species in flight.
To note that the Latin names of these species are not written on these stamps (only the English names)...

Parmi les 300 espèces environ de rapaces diurnes recensées dans le monde, 37 ont été enregistrées à Singapour, en particulier 3 espèces nicheuses résidentes représentées sur les 3 timbres ci-dessus (70c, 90c et 1,30$) : le Pygargue blagre (Haliaeetus leucogaster), le plus grand rapace de Singapour, le Milan sacré (Haliastur indus intermedius) et l'élanion blanc (Elanus caeruleus hypoleucus) et ses yeux rouges, caractérisés tous les 3 par un plumage blanc au niveau de la tête.
La 4ème espèce (timbre "1st Local"), l'aigle huppé (Nisaetus cirrhatus limnaeetus), est plus rare et peut être rencontrée dans les zones boisées.
Among the 300 species of diurnal birds of prey identified around the world, about 37 can be found in Singapore, especially 3 resident breeding species depicted on the 3 stamps above (70c, 90c and $ 1.30) : White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), the largest native raptor in Singapore, Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus intermedius) and Black-winged Kite (Elanus caeruleus hypoleucus) and its red eyes, all three characterized by a head's white plumage.
The fourth species (1st Local stamp), the Changeable Hawk-Eagle (nisaetus cirrhatus limnaeetus) is rarer and can be encountered in wooded areas.

Le même jour, l'enveloppe pré-timbrée ci-dessus (valable pour un envoi standard domestique jusqu'à 20g "1st Local", 30c actuellement) a été mise en circulation sur le même thème avec cette illustration à droite montrant différentes espèces de colibris.
Cette enveloppe est commercialisée par lot de 6 (prix de vente : 3$).

The same day, the prepaid envelope above (valid for domestic standard regular mail up to 20g - "1st Local", currently 30c) was put into circulation on the same "bird" topic with this illustration to the right showing different species of hummingbirds.
This envelope is sold in packs of 6 (sale price : $ 3.00).
Thank you again Terence for this cover sent from the Punggol post office (a district located in the northeast part of the main island of Singapore), with this additional vignette ($ 1.00) to reach the postal rate for a shipment up to 20g to France (and other countries of the Zone 3). 
 

"Singapore 1st Olympic Gold" commemorative postmark from Singapore !

Oblitération spéciale "1ère médaille d'or olympique" sur lettre de Singapour !

Le 12 août 2016, le nageur Joseph Schooling (né en 1995) remportait la finale du 100 mètres papillon aux jeux olympiques de Rio 2016, la 1ère médaille d'or olympique de l'histoire pour Singapour.
En complément de son intéressante prime (740000 $) décernée par le comité olympique de Singapour, Schooling est devenu une star devenant le 1er athlète d'Asie du sud-est à remporter une médaille d'or en natation.
Depuis sa 1ère participation aux jeux olympiques de 1948, Singapour avait auparavant remporté uniquement 4 médailles (2 argent, 2 bronze) en haltérophilie et tennis de table.
On August 12, 2016, swimmer Joseph Schooling (born in 1995) won the final of the 100 meters butterfly at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the first Olympic gold medal in history for Singapore.
In addition to his attractive $ 740,000 award by the Singapore Olympic Committee, Schooling became a star becoming the first male athlete from Southeast Asia to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming.
Since its first participation in the 1948 Olympic Games, Singapore had previously won only 4 medals (2 silver, 2 bronze) in weightlifting and table tennis.

A partir du 19 août 2016, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation 2 oblitérations spéciales consacrées à cette 1ère médaille d'or olympique, dont celle qui a été appliquée le 2 septembre 2016 sur la jolie lettre ci-dessus. Merci beaucoup Terence !
La 2ème oblitération rappelle le temps (50.39 secondes) ayant permis à Joseph Schooling de remporter cette finale, le 3ème meilleur temps de l'histoire sur cette distance, record olympique, record d'Asie et record national.
Terence a eu la très bonne idée d'affranchir sa lettre avec 2 des 4 timbres de la série "Rio 2016" émise le 5 août 2016, représentant un joueur de tennis de table (90c) et un nageur dans l'épreuve du papillon (1st Local), prémonitoire !
From August 19, 2016, the SingPost has released two special commemorative postmarks devoted to this first Olympic gold medal, including the one applied on September 2, 2016 on the nice cover above. Thank you very much Terence !
The 2nd postmark features the time (50.39 seconds) enabling Joseph Schooling to win this final, the third fastest time in history on this distance, Olympic record, Asian record and national record.
Terence has had the very good idea to frank his letter with 2 of the 4 stamps of the "Rio 2016" series issued on August 5, 2016, depicting a table tennis player (90c) and a swimmer in the men's butterfly event (1st Local), premonitory !

Le défilé de la Fête Nationale ("National Day Parade" - NDP) est une cérémonie très importante à Singapour, organisée le jour de la Fête Nationale le 9 août afin de commémorer le jour de l'indépendance du pays (le 9 août 1965).
Le 1er défilé de la Fête Nationale a eu lieu en 1966 sur le Padang, situé dans le Downtown Core, le coeur économique du pays.
Afin de célébrer les 50 ans de ce défilé, la SingPost a mis en circulation, le 8 août 2016, une intéressante série (6 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet).
Un grand merci Terence pour ce splendide FDC concernant cette série de 6 timbres, avec TAD Premier Jour ainsi qu'un cachet du bureau postal de Punggol (région nord-est) !
The National Day Parade (NDP) is a very important ceremony in Singapore, organized the day of the National Day on August 9th to commemorate the Independence Day of the country (August 9, 1965).
The first National Day Parade was held in 1966 on the Padang, an open playing field located within the Downtown Core, the country's economic heart.
To celebrate the 50 years of this Parade, the SingPost has released on August 8, 2016, an interesting series (6 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet).
A big thank you Terence for this beautiful FDC regarding this set of 6 stamps, with FDC cancellations as well as a hand cachet from the Punggol post office (northeast region) !

Le TAD Premier Jour reproduit le logo du défilé 2016 de cette Fête Nationale, avec ce coeur incluant le nombre "51" (51ème anniversaire de l'indépendance).
Le thème choisi pour le défilé de cette année était "Construisons notre Singapour de demain" ("Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow").
Conçue par Wong Wui Kong, cette série (tarifs 1st Local à 1,30$) évoque ces défilés de la Fête Nationale au cours des 5 dernières décennies.
Ces défilés, organisés sur le Padang entre 1966 et 1974, ont ensuite eu lieu sur différents sites décentralisés, dans l'ancien stade national, sur la plateforme flottante de Marina Bay et, pour la 1ère fois cette année, dans le nouveau stade national (inauguré en 2014) faisant partie du Singapore Sports Hub.
The FDC cancellation reproduces the logo of this 2016 National Day Parade, with this heart including the number "51" (51th anniversary of independence).
The theme chosen this year for this Parade was "Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow".
Designed by Wong Wui Kong, this series (1st Local to $1.30 values) evokes these National Day Parades in the last 5 decades.
These Parades, organized on the Padang between 1966 and 1974, took afterwards place on different decentralised sites, in the former National Stadium, on the Marina Bay floating platform and, for the first time this year, in the new National Stadium (inaugurated in 2014), being part of the Singapore Sports Hub.
 

"Myths and Legends - Part II" stamp set on FDCs from Singapore

Série "Mythes et légendes" (2ème partie) sur FDCs de Singapour

Le 3 octobre 2014, la poste de Singapour avait émis une 1ère jolie série de 8 timbres consacrée à des mythes et légendes, en particulier des récits évoquant  de "L'attaque de l'espadon" et "Sang Nila Utama".
Le 25 mai 2016, la SingPost a mis en circulation une nouvelle série de 8 timbres (à nouveau conçue par Lim An-ling) sur le même thème, avec cette fois 2 légendes liées aux îles du sud ("Southern Islands"), une série d'îlots situés au sud de l'île principale de Singapour (région centrale).
Comme en 2014, un FDC différent a été édité pour les 4 timbres consacrés à ces 2 légendes. Merci beaucoup Terence pour ces 2 splendides plis !
On October 3, 2014, the Post of Singapore had issued a first nice series of 8 stamps devoted to Myths and Legends, especially stories evoking the "Attack of the Swordfish" and "Sang Nila Utama".
On May 25, 2016, the SingPost has released a new set of 8 stamps (again designed by Lim An-ling) on the same topic, this time with two legends related to the Southern Islands, a group of islets located south of the main island of Singapore (Central Region).
As in 2014, a different FDC was edited for the 4 stamps devoted to these two legends. Thank you very much Terence for these two beautiful covers !

La 1ère série ci-dessus évoque la légende concernant la création des îles soeurs ("Sisters' Islands"), appelées aujourd'hui "Pulau Subar Laut" et "Pulau Subar Darat" en malais (cf timbre à 2$ ci-dessus à droite).
Cette légende raconte l'histoire de 2 soeurs, Minah et Lina, forcées de vivre avec leur oncle après la mort de leur pauvre mère. Les 2 filles étaient très proches et se promirent de rester ensemble pour toujours. Elles furent kidnappées par des pirates (Orang Laut), leur chef voulant forcer Lina à devenir sa femme, ce que la jeune fille refusa.
Il l'embarqua alors sur son sampan et pris le large, Minah se noyant en essayant de lui venir en aide. Lina, respectant leur promesse de rester ensemble, plongea alors dans la mer pour retrouver sa soeur, et se noya. Deux îles apparurent quelques jours plus tard, à l'emplacement où les 2 soeurs se noyèrent...
The first stamp set above evokes the legend about the creation of the "Sisters' Islands", today called "Pulau Subar Laut" and "Pulau Subar Darat" in Malay (cf $ 2 stamp above to the right).
This legend tells the story of two sisters, Minah and Lina, forced to live with their uncle after the death of their poor mother. The two girls were very close and promised to stay together forever. They were kidnapped by pirates (Orang Laut), their Chief trying to force Lina to become his wife, what the girl refused.
He then embarked her on a sampan and took off, Minah drowning trying to help her.
Lina, respecting their promise to stay together, then plunged into the sea to find her sister, and drowned. Two islands appeared a few days later, on the site where the two sisters disappeared...

Les 4 timbres ci-dessus évoquent la légende de l'île Kusu ou "île de la tortue", située à environ 5 km au sud de l'île principale de Singapour.
Cette légende raconte l'histoire d'un pauvre pêcheur chinois, parti en mer pour nourrir sa famille et pris dans une tempête.
Il fut alors secouru par une tortue géante qui le transporta sur sa carapace jusqu'à une petite île déserte où le pêcheur s'installa, conscient qu'il ne reverrait plus jamais sa femme et ses enfants. Il fut rejoint quelques mois plus tard par un pêcheur malais qui connut le même sort...
A noter que la SingPost a émis cette série en collaboration avec l'agence du patrimoine national (National Heritage Board - NHB) et a organisé, du 25 mai au 8 juin 2016 au bureau de poste "Next Generation" de Suntec City, une exposition consacrée à ces mythes et légendes des îles du sud, intitulée "Contes de nos côtes".
Le cachet spécial consacré à cette exposition à également été appliqué en bas à droite sur ces 2 enveloppes !
The four stamps above are devoted to the legend of the Kusu Island or "Turtle Island", located about 5 km south of the main island of Singapore.
This legend tells the story of a poor Chinese fisherman who went to sea to feed his family and were caught in a storm.
He was then rescued by a giant turtle which brought him on its back and reached a small deserted island where the fisherman settled, aware that he would never see his wife and children again. He was joined a few months later by a Malay fisherman who suffered the same fate...
To note that SingPost issued this series in collaboration with the National Heritage Board (NHB) and organized from 25 May to 8 June 2016 at the Next Generation post office of Suntec City, an exhibition devoted to these myths and legends of the Southern Islands, entitled "Tales from our Shores".
The special cachet dedicated to this exhibition was also applied at the bottom right on the two envelopes !

La SingPost a à nouveau fait appel à Leo Teck Chong pour concevoir cette série de 3 timbres (ci-dessus) ainsi qu'un bloc-feuillet (2 timbres), ce dernier (imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing) comportant une encre photochromique et iridescente spéciale.
L'année 2016 (à partir du 8 février) est donc sous le signe du singe (le 9ème animal du cycle) associé à l'élément "feu".
D'après l'astrologie chinoise, les caractéristiques de chaque signe révèlent la personnalité des personnes mais aussi leurs vies ou les évènements se produisant dans l'année.
Ainsi, les personnes nées sous le signe du singe de feu sont énergiques, déterminés, créatifs et expressifs.
Parmi les personnalités célèbres nées sous le signe du singe : Léonard de Vinci, Tom Hanks, Céline Dion, Will Smith ou Diana Ross.
The SingPost has again appealed to Leo Teck Chong to design this series of 3 stamps (above) as well as a souvenir sheet (2 stamps) printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, with a special photochromic and iridescent ink.
The year 2016 (from February 8th) is thus under the sign of the Monkey (the 9th animal of the cycle) associated with the element "fire".
According to Chinese astrology, the traits of each sign shape the personality of people but also their lives or the events occurring in the year.  Thus, people born under the sign of the fire monkey are energetic, determined, creative and expressive.
Among the famous people born in the Monkey year : Leonardo da Vinci, Tom Hanks, Celine Dion, Will Smith or Diana Ross.

Singapour et l'Inde ont officiellement établi des relations diplomatiques il y a 50 ans, même si les 2 pays ont établi des contacts commerciaux bien avant l'indépendance de Singapour.
Les 2 pays entretiennent depuis 1965 des liens étroits dans plusieurs domaines : politique (Singapour a apporté son soutien à l'inde lors du conflit avec le Pakistan dans la région du Cachemire), économique, culture...
Pour célébrer ce 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de ces relations diplomatiques en 2015, les administrations postales des 2 pays ont mis en circulation (le 24 novembre) une série commune de 2 timbres, consacrées aux résidences présidentielles à Singapour et New Delhi.
A noter que cette série constitue la 5ème émission commune impliquant Singapour en 2015, probablement un record pour ce pays !
Singapore and India have formally established diplomatic relations 50 years ago, even though the two countries established trade contacts well before the independence of Singapore.
The two countries have maintained close ties since 1965 in several areas such as politics (Singapore supported India during the conflict with Pakistan in the Kashmir region), economics, culture...
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of these diplomatic relations in 2015, the postal administrations of the two countries have put into circulation (on November 24th) a joint set of two stamps devoted to presidential residences in Singapore and New Delhi.
To note that this series is the fifth joint stamp issue involving Singapore in 2015, probably a record for this country !

Le timbre à gauche (1st Local) représente la résidence du président de la république de Singapour (Tony Tan Keng Yam actuellement), appelée "Istana" (signifiant "Palais" en malais).
La construction de cet édifice de style néo-palladien a débuté en 1867 (fin en 1869) pour servir de résidence au gouverneur britannique. Le 1er président à y résider fut Yusof Ishak entre 1965 et 1970.
Ce bâtiment, conçu par l'architecte John Frederick Adolphus McNair (1828-1910), monument national depuis 1992, abrite également les bureaux du premier ministre.

The stamp on the left (1st Local) features the residence of the President of the Republic of Singapore (Tony Tan Keng Yam currently), called "Istana" (meaning "Palace" in Malay).
The construction of this building in a neo-Palladian style began in 1867 (completed in 1869) to become the residence of the British governor. The first president to live there was Yusof Ishak between 1965 and 1970.
This building, designed by architect John Frederick Adolphus McNair (1828-1910), a national monument since 1992, also houses the working office of the Prime Minister.

J'ai également eu la chance de recevoir la version indienne de cette série (chaque timbre en 2 exemplaires) sur la lettre ci-dessus, envoyée en recommandé le 16 décembre 2015 de la ville de Lucknow. Merci beaucoup Alka !
Le palais Istana est représenté sur le timbre à 5 Rp alors que le Rashtrapati Bhavan, résidence officielle du président indien (Pranab Kumar Mukherjee actuellement), figure sur le timbre à 25 Rp.
Cette résidence (architecte : Edwin Lutyens) a été construite entre 1912 et 1929 dans la capitale indienne, New Delhi, pour servir de palais au vice-roi des Indes. Le 1er président de l'Inde a y résider après l'indépendance du pays fut Dr. Rajendra Prasad à partir de 1950.
Ce palais (340 pièces, plus de 130 hectares avec le jardin moghol) est une des plus grandes résidences de chef d'état dans le monde.
A noter enfin que la poste de Singapour a également émis un bloc-feuillet mixte composé d'un timbre de Singapour (Istana) et d'un timbre de l'Inde (Rashtrapati Bhavan), vendu 8$ !
I was also very lucky to receive the Indian version of this set (each stamp in two copies) on the letter above, sent by registered mail on December 16, 2015 from the city of Lucknow. Thank you very much Alka !
The Istana palace is depicted on the Rp 5 stamp while Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the Indian president (Pranab Kumar Mukherjee currently), is featured on the Rp 25 stamp.
This residence (architect : Edwin Lutyens) was built between 1912 and 1929 in the Indian capital, New Delhi, to serve as a palace for the Viceroy of India. The first President of India to live there after the country's independence was Dr. Rajendra Prasad from 1950.

Opening of the National Gallery Singapore

Ouverture de la Galerie Nationale de Singapour

Sous l'impulsion du premier ministre actuel, Lee Hsien Loong, la décision de créer une galerie d'art nationale à Singapour est prise à partir de 2005.
Le 24 novembre 2015, cette Galerie Nationale a été officiellement ouverte au public, devenant le plus grand musée du pays mais aussi la plus grande collection publique au monde d'objets d'art moderne (19ème et 20ème siècle) de Singapour et d'Asie du Sud-Est, avec plus de 8000 œuvres d'art exposées.
Les différentes oeuvres exposées concernent différents supports : peinture, sculpture, gravure, photographie ou vidéo.
L'objectif de cette institution culturelle est également de devenir un centre pour la recherche et la publication sur l'art moderne dans toute cette région du sud-est asiatique.
Under the leadership of current Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, the decision to create a National Art Gallery in Singapore was taken from 2005.
On November 24, 2015, this National Gallery was officially opened to the public, becoming the largest museum in the country but also the largest public collection in the world of modern art (19th and 20th century) from Singapore and Southeast Asia, with more than 8,000 works of art on display.
The various works exhibited involve various media such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography or video.
The objective of this cultural institution is also to become a center for research and publication on modern art in the whole Southeast Asian region.

A l'occasion de l'inauguration de cette Galerie Nationale, la SingPost a mis en circulation, le 24 novembre 2015, une jolie série de 4 timbres (1,30 $ chacun, conception : Leo Teck Chong) reproduisant certaines des oeuvres exposées dans ce musée.

L'illustration en bas à gauche montre une vue du bâtiment de cette Galerie Nationale (architecture : Studio Milou), constituée de 2 anciens édifices (monuments nationaux), l'ancien siège de la cour suprême de Singapour (à gauche) et l'ancien hôtel de ville (à droite).
Les 4 oeuvres à l'honneur dans cette série sont (de gauche à droite, de haut en bas) : "Séchage du poisson salé" (1978) par Cheong Soo Pieng (1917-1983) de Singapour, "Pagodas II, Pago-Pago Series" (1964) par Latiff Mohidin (né en 1941) de Malaisie, "Cours de langue nationale" (1959) par Chua Mia Tee (né en 1931) de Singapour et "Lion blessé" (vers 1839) par Raden Saleh (1811-1880) d'Indonésie.
On the occasion of the inauguration of this National Gallery Singapore, the SingPost has put into circulation, on November 24, 2015, a very nice set of four stamps ($ 1.30 each, design : Leo Teck Chong) reproducing some of the works exhibited in this Museum.

The illustration at the bottom left shows a view of this National Gallery's building (architecture : Studio Milou), consisting of two old buildings (national monuments), the former seat of the Supreme Court of Singapore (left) and the former City Hall (right).
The four works in the spotlight on this stamp series are (from left to right, top to bottom) : "Drying Salted Fish" (1978) by Cheong Soo Pieng (1917-1983) from Singapore, "Pagodas II, Pago-Pago Series" (1964) by Latiff Mohidin (born in 1941) from Malaysia, "National Language Class" (1959) by Chua Mia Tee (born in 1931) from Singapore and "Wounded Lion" (c. 1839) by Raden Saleh (1811-1880) from Indonesia.

Le 16 novembre 2015, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une intéressante série (thème et format en losange des timbres) consacrée au centre du patrimoine indien ("Indian Heritage Centre") marquant ainsi les liens séculaires entre l'Inde et cette région d'Asie du sud-est (Singapour et Malaya en particulier).
La communauté indienne représente aujourd'hui environ 10% de la population singapourienne, la majorité étant d'origine chinoise.
Un grand merci Terence pour ce joli pli Premier Jour concernant cette série complète de 4 timbres, conçue par Jonathan Castillo Reyes (DNA Life Pte Ltd) !
On November 16, 2015, the Post of Singapore has released an interesting series (theme and diamond-shaped stamps) devoted to the Indian Heritage Centre, marking the century-old links between India and this region of southeast Asia (especially Singapore and Malaya).
The Indian community now represents approximately 10% of Singapore's population, the majority being of Chinese origin.

Le timbre bleu à gauche (1st Local) montre la façade de ce centre du patrimoine indien mêlant des éléments architecturaux modernes et plus traditionnels en Inde ("baoli" en particulier).
Ce centre est organisé en 5 grands thèmes présentés de façon chronologiques, dont 3 sont illustrés sur les 3 autres timbres de la série : les premiers contacts (70c) entre le sud et le sud-est de l'Asie, du 1er au 19ème siècle (statue en granit du dieu Ganesh datant du 12ème siècle et tissu de commerce "Patolu"), les racines et routes (90c) consacrées aux origines et aux migrations (porte en bois sculpté de la région du Chettinad) et les pionniers (1,30$) avec les premiers indiens venus s'installer à partir du 19ème siècle (couvre-chef en soie "Pheta" et collier composé de pièces en or et rubis "Kasumalai").
Les 2 autres thèmes présentés dans ce centre sont plus contemporains avec l'éveil social et politique de la communauté indienne ainsi que la contribution des indiens dans la construction d'un état multiethnique et multiculturel.
The blue stamp on the left (1st Local) shows the façade of this Indian Heritage Centre, blending modern and Indian traditional architectural elements ("baoli" in particular).
This centre is organized into five major themes exhibited in chronological order, three of which are illustrated on the three other stamp of the series : early contacts (70c) between South and South-east Asia, from 1st to 19th century (granite statue of the god Ganesha dating from the 12th century and trade cloth "Patolu"), roots and routes (90c) devoted to the origins and migrations (carved wooden doorway from the region of Chettinad) and the pioneers ($1.30) with the first Indians who arrived to settle in the 19th century (silk headgear "Pheta" and necklace made of gold coins and rubies "Kasumalai").
The other two themes presented in this center are more contemporary with social and political awakening of the Indian community as well as the contribution of Indians in building a multiethnic and multicultural country.

Pour commémorer le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre le Royaume de Thaïlande et la république de Singapour, les administrations postales des 2 pays ont eu la bonne idée d'émettre, le 18 septembre 2015, une intéressante série de timbres communs ayant pour thème des desserts emblématiques.
Comme de coutume, la SingPost a mis en circulation ce splendide FDC mixte incluant les 2 timbres de Singapour (à droite) et les 2 timbres thaïlandais (à gauche), avec leurs TAD respectifs de Singapour (mangue et sandwich à la crème glacée) et Bangkok (drapeaux des 2 pays). Merci beaucoup Terence !
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Singapore, the postal administrations of the two countries have had the good idea to issue, on September 18, 2015, an interesting series of joint stamps having emblematic desserts for theme.
As usual, the SingPost has released this beautiful mixed FDC including the two stamps of Singapore (right) and the two Thai stamps (left), with their respective cancellations from Singapore (Mango and Ice Cream Sandwich) and Bangkok (flags of the two countries). Thank you very much Terence !

A noter également ce cachet classique en date du 18 septembre 2015, avec cette énigmatique mention "Philatelic @ TGP"...
Ces 2 timbres (1st Local et 2$ pour Singapour), également émis dans un bloc-feuillet, ont été conçus par Wong Wui Kong (Singapour) et Euamporn Supharoekchai (Thaïlande) et représentent deux desserts très connus dans ces 2 pays, le riz gluant à la mangue et le sandwich à la crème glacée.
A noter que les 2 timbres thaïlandais ci-dessus (3 baht chacun) incluent, en haut à gauche, le logo du 50ème anniversaire de ces relations diplomatiques, ce qui n'est pas le cas sur les timbres de Singapour...
Ce dessert thaïlandais ("Mango sticky rice" ou "kao neow mamuang") est traditionnel en avril et mai, préparé à partir de mangue et de riz gluant, arrosé d'une crème de coco sucrée.
L'autre dessert, typique à Singapour, le sandwich à la crème glacée, est souvent proposé par des vendeurs dans la rue, constitué de crème glacée (parfums : haricots rouges, igname, maïs sucré, durian, miellat, menthe poivrée ou chocolat) entre des tranches de pain multicolores.
To note also that classic postmark dated September 18, 2015, with this enigmatic mention "Philatelic @ TGP"...
These two stamps (1st Local and $ 2 for Singapore), also issued in a souvenir sheet, have been designed by Wong Wui Kong (Singapore) and Euamporn Supharoekchai (Thailand) and are featuring two well-known desserts in these two countries, Mango Sticky Rice and Ice Cream Sandwich.
To note that the two Thai stamps above (3 Baht each) include, at the top left, the logo of the 50th anniversary of these diplomatic relations, which is not the case on the stamps of Singapore...
This Thai dessert ("Mango sticky rice" or "kao neow mamuang") is traditional in April and May, prepared from mango and sticky rice, with also a sweet coconut cream.
The other dessert, typical in Singapore, Ice Cream Sandwich, is often available from the street peddlers, made of ice cream (flavors : red beans, yam, sweet corn, durian, honeydew, peppermint or chocolate) between slices of multicolored bread.

Comme vous le savez maintenant, Singapour célèbre cette année le 50ème anniversaire de son indépendance et de nombreuses manifestations sont organisées à cette occasion, en particulier une exposition philatélique internationale ("World Stamp Exhibition" ou "WSE") de premier plan, "Singapore 2015", organisée du 14 au 19 août 2015 au Sands Expo® & Convention Centre.
Le 1er jour de cette exposition, un timbre de distributeur spécial a été mis en circulation, incluant le logo rouge et blanc "SG 50" de ce 50ème anniversaire ainsi que le slogan "Celebrating the nation's golden jubilee" ("Célébrant le jubilé d'or de la nation").
As you know now, Singapore is celebrating this year the 50th anniversary of its independence and many events are organized on this occasion, including the World Stamp Exhibition (WSE), "Singapore 2015 ", held from 14 to 19 August 2015 at the Sands Expo® & Convention Centre.

Singapour célèbre cette année le 50ème anniversaire de son indépendance et de nombreuses manifestations sont organisées à cette occasion, en particulier une exposition philatélique internationale de 1er plan, "Singapore 2015", organisée du 14 au 19 août 2015.
Le 1er jour de cette exposition, une série commune a été émise, conjointement avec la poste australienne et la poste néo-zélandaise, consacrée aux édifices abritant les parlements respectifs de ces 3 pays.
Cette série (conception : Sonia Young, de la poste australienne) est émise à l'occasion du 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations bilatérales entre Singapour et l'Australie et Singapour et la Nouvelle-Zélande.
Singapore is celebrating this year the 50th anniversary of its independence and many events are organized on this occasion, and in particular the World Stamp Exhibition (WSE) "Singapore 2015", held from 14 to 19 August, 2015.
The first day of this exhibition, a joint stamp set was issued, jointly with Australia Post and New Zealand Post, devoted to the buildings housing the respective parliaments of the three countries.
This series (design : Sonia Young of the Australia Post Design Studio) is issued on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Singapore and Australia and Singapore and New Zealand.

J'ai eu la chance de recevoir ce splendide FDC mixte ci-dessus (avec TAD Premier Jour de chaque pays) concernant cette série (un des timbres émis par chacun des 3 pays), envoyé depuis cette exposition "Singapore 2015". Merci beaucoup Terence :-)
A noter que seuls Singapour et l'Australie ont émis ces 3 timbres, la Nouvelle-Zélande s'étant contentée de n'émettre qu'un seul timbre (représentant son propre parlement)...
L'édifice actuel du parlement de Singapour (caractérisé par son toit en forme de prisme) a été inauguré en 1999 et est composée de 3 parties intégrées à un bâtiment restauré datant du 19ème siècle.
Le parlement australien (chambre des représentants et sénat), inauguré à Canberra en 1988, est connu pour son mât de 81 mètres de haut (une des plus grandes structures en acier inoxydable au monde) au sommet duquel flotte le drapeau national.
Le 3ème timbre à droite montre le parlement néo-zélandais à Wellington, avec à droite le bâtiment principal (achevé en 1922) et à gauche, la "ruche", inaugurée en 1977, abritant les bureaux du premier ministre et de son cabinet.
I was lucky to receive this amazing mixed FDC above (with FDC postmarks of each country) regarding this series (with one of the stamps issued by each of the three countries), sent from this exhibition "Singapore 2015". Thank you so much Terence :-)
To note that only Singapore and Australia have issued these 3 stamps, New Zealand having issued only one stamp (featuring its own parliament)...
The current building of the Parliament of Singapore (characterized by its rooftop prism) was inaugurated in 1999 and is composed of three "blocks" integrated with a restored building dating from the 19th century.
The Australian parliament (House of Representatives and Senate), opened in Canberra in 1988, is known for its 81 meters high flag-mast (one of the largest stainless steel structures in the world).
The third stamp on the right shows the New Zealand Parliament in Wellington, with the main building (completed in 1922) on the right and the "Beehive" on the left, inaugurated in 1977, housing the offices of the Prime Minister and his cabinet.

Sur le recto de cette enveloppe, d'autres cachets spéciaux ont été appliqués, en particulier ceux émis par les 3 administrations postales à l'occasion de cette exposition philatélique (représentant des fleurs pour Singapour, un kiwi pour la Nouvelle-Zélande et un koala pour l'Australie).
Sur l'autre face de cette lettre ci-dessus, les cachets spéciaux des territoires australiens (île Christmas, îles Cocos et Territoire antarctique australien) et néo-zélandais (Tokelau et Niue) ont également été apposés !
On the front of this envelope, other special cachets were applied, particularly those issued by the three postal administrations on the occasion of this World Stamp Exhibition (representing flowers for Singapore, a Kiwi for New Zealand and a Koala for Australia).
On the other side of this letter above, the special postmarks of Australian (Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Australian Antarctic Territory) and New Zealand (Tokelau and Niue) territories are also included ! 
 

Singapore has its first UNESCO World Heritage site

1er site de Singapour classé au Patrimoine Mondial de l'UNESCO

Lors du dernier comité du patrimoine mondial organisé à Bonn du 28 juin au 8 juillet 2015, le jardin botanique de Singapour ("Singapore Botanic Gardens") est devenu le 1er site du pays à être inscrit par l'UNESCO au patrimoine mondial de l'humanité !
J'ai déjà parlé sur ce blog de ce jardin créé en 1859 sur son site actuel, sous l'impulsion du père fondateur de la ville de Singapour (et également naturaliste émérite), le britannique Sir Stamford Raffles.
Une jolie série (4 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) avait en effet été émise en 2009 à l'occasion des 150 ans de ce jardin, ainsi que des timbres de distributeur en 2010...
During the last World Heritage Committee held in Bonn from 28 June to 8 July 2015, the Singapore Botanical Gardens became the first ever site of the country to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site !
I've already spoken on this blog about this garden created in 1859 on its current location under the leadership of the founding father of the city of Singapore (and also Emeritus naturalist), British Sir Stamford Raffles.
A nice set (4 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) had actually been issued in 2009 to mark the 150th anniversary of this garden, as well as ATM stamps in 2010...

To note the FDC cancellation featuring the white bandstand also present on the top stamp above, as well as the standard cachet from the area of Paya Lebar where the Singapore Post Centre is located.
As it was the case for the series issued in 2009, these two stamps have been designed by graphic artist Eng Siak Loy, designer of the year in 2007 in Singapore.
UNESCO has registered these gardens as a World Heritage site because it demonstrates the evolution of a British tropical colonial botanical garden into a modern world-class garden, a scientific institution and a place for conservation and education... 
 

"ASEAN Community" joint stamp from Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam

Émission commune "Communauté de l'ASEAN" de Singapour, Malaisie et Vietnam

Lors du sommet des chefs d'état et de gouvernement de l'ASEAN (Association des nations de l'Asie du Sud-Est) en 2007 organisé à Singapour à l'occasion du 40ème anniversaire de la création de cette organisation politique, la création d'une communauté économique entre ces 10 pays du sud-est asiatique fut décidée.
Une première émission commune (10 timbres différents) fut d'ailleurs émise en 2007 par les 10 pays membres.
Cette communauté, à l'image de la communauté économique européenne (CEE), verra officiellement le jour le 31 décembre 2015, constituant un ensemble de 625 millions d'habitants (9% de la population mondiale) et la 7ème puissance économique mondiale...
Pour rappel, l'ASEAN a été créée le 8 août 1967 à Bangkok  afin de développer la croissance, l'économie et d'assurer la stabilité de cette région.
During the Summit of Heads of State and Government of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) held in Singapore in 2007 to mark the 40th anniversary of the creation of this political organization, the establishment of an economic community between these 10 countries of Southeast Asia was decided.
A first joint issue (10 different stamps) was issued in 2007 by the 10 member countries.
This community, similar to the European Economic Community (EEC), will officially be launched on December 31, 2015, constituting an entity of 625 million people (9% of the world population) and the 7th largest economy in the world...
As a reminder, ASEAN was established on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok in order to mainly develop the growth, economy and stability of this region.

Afin de célébrer la création à venir de cette communauté de l'ASEAN, les 10 pays membres de l'ASEAN (Thaïlande, Singapour, Vietnam, Malaisie, Indonésie, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodge, Laos, Brunei) ont décidé d'émettre un timbre commun.
Suite à un concours (timbre et TAD), c'est la proposition de la poste vietnamienne qui a été retenue parmi 55 projets (30 timbres et 25 TAD).
La date officielle d'émission était le 8 août 2015 afin de commémorer (jour pour jour) le 48ème anniversaire de l'ASEAN.
Un grand merci Terence pour ce splendide FDC mixte ci-dessus incluant 2 timbres de Singapour et 2 timbres de Malaisie avec leurs TAD respectifs (Johor Bahru pour la Malaisie).
Cette enveloppe est intéressante car la partie inférieure représente des monuments emblématiques des 10 pays de l'ASEAN : le Merlion (Singapour), la mosquée Omar Ali Saifuddin (Brunei), les tours Petronas (Malaisie), le mausolée de Hô Chi Minh (Vietnam), Angkor Vat (Cambodge), Monas (Indonésie), monument Rizal (Philippines), Rocher d'or (Myanmar), temple Wat Arun (Thaïlande) et Pha That Luang (Laos).
To celebrate the upcoming creation of this ASEAN Community, the 10 ASEAN member countries (Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei) have decided to issue a joint stamp.
Following a stamp design contest (stamp and postmark), the proposal of the Vietnamese Post was chosen among 55 projects (30 stamps and 25 postmarks).
The official date of issue was August 8, 2015 to commemorate (to the day) the 48th anniversary of ASEAN.
A big thank you Terence for this beautiful mixed FDC above including 2 stamps from Singapore and 2 stamps from Malaysia with their respective cancellations (from Johor Bahru for Malaysia).
This envelope is interesting because the bottom part features some emblematic landmarks of the 10 ASEAN countries : Merlion (Singapore), Omar Ali Saifuddin mosque (Brunei), Petronas Towers (Malaysia), Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (Vietnam), Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Monas (Indonesia), Rizal monument (Philippines), Golden Rock (Myanmar), Wat Arun (Thailand) and Pha That Luang (Laos).

A noter que les TAD (Premier Jour d'Hanoi et standard du quartier Tan Dinh de Hô-Chi-Minh-Ville) comportent curieusement la date du 7 août 2015 alors que la date officielle est le 8 août 2015 ?
Ce timbre représente une fleur incluant les drapeaux des 10 pays membres de l'ASEAN, avec 2 pigeons dans le fond, une poignée de main en bas ainsi que des épis de riz dorés, symbole d'une agriculture encore très présente dans cette région.
L'emblème de l'ASEAN figure au centre de cette fleur (avec le mention "Une vision, Une identité, Une communauté") ainsi que sur le TAD Premier Jour, entouré par 3 lignes symbolisant les "3 piliers" de cette nouvelle communauté : politique et sécurité, économie et aspect socio-culturel.
Le petit timbre en haut à gauche fait partie d'une série courante (12 timbres) émis le 15 mai 2009, représentant différents types de lampes en bambou.

To note that the cancellations (First Day's one from Hanoi and standard's one from Tan Dinh, a district of Ho Chi Minh City) are curiously dated August 7, 2015 while the official date is August 8, 2015 ?
That stamp depicts a flower including the flags of the 10 ASEAN member countries, with 2 pigeons in the background, one handshake at the bottom and golden ears of rice, symbol of agriculture, still very present in this region.
The emblem of ASEAN is included at the center of this flower (with the words "One Vision, One Identity, One Community") as well as on the FDC cancellation, surrounded by 3 lines symbolizing the "three pillars" of this new Community : politics and security, economics and socio-cultural aspect.
The small stamp on the top left is part of a definitive series (12 stamps) issued on May 15, 2009, depicting different types of bamboo lamps.
