1ère participation de l'Albanie à l'Euro 2016 de football en France

Pour la première fois de son histoire, l'équipe de football d'Albanie s'est qualifiée pour une grande compétition internationale à l'occasion du championnat d'Europe UEFA de football, organisé en France du 10 juin au 10 juillet 2016.
La poste albanaise a célébré cet évènement en mettant en circulation, le 10 juin 2016, une jolie série de 2 timbres se-tenant en l'honneur de son équipe nationale "rouge et noir" ("kombëtarja kuqezi").
Un grand merci Sabri pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 11 juillet 2016 de Tirana, affranchie avec cette série !
For the first time in its history, the Albanian football team qualified for a major tournament at the occasion of the UEFA European Football Championship, held in France from June 10 to July 10, 2016.
The Albanian Post celebrated this event by putting into circulation, on June 10, 2016, a nice set of two se-tenant stamps paying tribute to its national "Red and Black" team ("kombëtarja kuqezi").

Ces 2 timbres (70 et 100 lekë), conçus par Petraq Papa, ont été imprimés respectivement à 808500 et 458500 exemplaires.
Le logo officiel de cet Euro 2016 figure sur chacun des 2 timbres ainsi que 2 joueurs constitués de phrases ou mots évoquant cette équipe de football albanaise et cette compétition.
Lors de cet Euro, l'Albanie était dans le groupe de la France, de la Suisse et de la Roumanie et a terminé à la 3ème place (victoire contre la Roumanie) mais n'a malheureusement pas fait partie des meilleurs 3èmes pour se qualifier pour les 8èmes de finale...
These two stamps (70 and 100 lekë), designed by Petraq Papa, have been printed in 808,500 and 458,500 copies respectively.
The official logo of this Euro 2016 is featured on each of the two stamps as well as two players made of sentences or words evoking the Albanian football team and this competition.
At this Euro, Albania was in the group of France, Switzerland and Romania and finished in 3rd place (victory against Romania) but was unfortunately not part of the best 3rd to qualify for the round of 16...

EUROPA 2006 m/s on cover sent from Balkanfila 2016 in Albania

Bloc EUROPA 2006 sur lettre envoyée de l'expo Balkanfila 2016 en Albanie

Pour la première fois de son histoire, l'Albanie organisait à Tirana, du 5 au 9 mai 2016, l'exposition philatélique "Balkanfila" (1ère édition organisée en 1965 en Bulgarie) à l'occasion du 103ème anniversaire de l'émission des premiers timbres albanais.
Cette exposition, organisée par l'association des collectionneurs albanais avec le soutien de la poste albanaise, a pour but de consolider les échanges et la coopération entre les philatélistes des pays de cette région des Balkans (Albanie, Bosnie-Herzégovine, Bulgarie, Croatie, Grèce, Macédoine, Monténégro, Moldavie, Roumanie, Serbie, Slovénie, Turquie).
For the first time in its history, Albania organized in Tirana, from 5 to 9 May 2016, the philatelic exhibition "Balkanfila" (first edition held in 1965 in Bulgaria) on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the issue of first Albanian stamps.
This exhibition, organized by the Association of Collectors of Albania with the support of the Albanian Post, aims to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between philatelists from countries part of the Balkan region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey).

Un grand merci Sabri pour ce pli spécial envoyé en recommandé depuis cette exposition "Balkanfila", avec un TAD spécial bleu représentant le logo de cette expo (avec 12 oiseaux stylisés symbolisant les pays participants) organisée à la Galerie Nationales des Arts de Tirana !
Ce pli est affranchi avec le bloc-feuillet numéroté (350 lekë) faisant partie de la série EUROPA 2006 (incluant également 2 timbres) dont le thème était "l'intégration vue par les jeunes".
A noter que cette série, n'incluant pas le logo officiel EUROPA, a été curieusement émise le 23 octobre 2007...
Ce bloc évoque cette intégration via le prisme de l'intégration de l'Albanie dans l'Union Européenne (avec une carte du continent et l'Islande anormalement proche des îles britanniques !).

This letter is franked with the numbered souvenir sheet (350 lekë) being part of the series EUROPA 2006 (also including two stamps) devoted to the theme "Integration seen by young people".
To note that this series, not including the official EUROPA logo, was curiously issued on October 23, 2007...
This souvenir sheet evokes this integration through the prism of integration of Albania into the European Union (with a map of the continent with Iceland unusually close to British Isles !).

L'année 2009 avait été déclarée "Année mondiale de l'Astronomie" par les Nations Unies et ce thème de l'astronomie avait été retenu par l'organisation postale PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA émis cette année-là.
La poste albanaise, qui participe à ces émissions CEPT puis EUROPA depuis 1992, avait émis le 11 décembre 2009, une série EUROPA composée de 2 timbres et 1 bloc-feuillet numéroté sur ce thème de l'astronomie.
Cette série complète (conception : Spiro Vllahu) a été utilisée pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessous envoyée en recommandé le 20 janvier 2016 de Tirana. Merci beaucoup Sabri !
The year 2009 was declared "International Year of Astronomy" by the United Nations and this topic of astronomy was also chosen by the postal organization PostEurop for the EUROPA stamps issued that same year.
The Albanian Post, participating in these CEPT and EUROPA issues since 1992, had issued on December 11, 2009, an EUROPA series consisting of two stamps and one numbered souvenir sheet devoted to this theme of astronomy.
This complete set (design : Spiro Vllahu) was used to frank the nice cover below sent by registered mail on January 20, 2016 from Tirana. Thank you very much Sabri !

Les 2 timbres (200 et 250 lekë) ont été émis chacun en feuillet de 10 timbres ainsi que dans un carnet (tirage : 6000 seulement) incluant également le bloc-feuillet (350 lekë).
Je ne suis pas sûr d'identifier tous les modules, engins spatiaux ou corps célestes présents sur cette série, en particulier (sur le bloc-feuillet) une vue de la terre depuis la lune avec la présence du module lunaire (Lunar Excursion Module), le véhicule spatial utilisé dans le cadre du programme spatial américain Apollo entre 1961 et 1972 pour débarquer des hommes sur la Lune.
Un satellite et une navette spatiale américaine sont également représentés sur ce bloc-feuillet alors que les 2 timbres évoquent respectivement des planètes du système solaire (et une antenne satellite) et différents modules ayant semble-t-il été utilisés sur la planète Mars.
The two stamps (200 and 250 lekë) were each issued in sheetlet of 10 stamps as well as in a booklet (print run : 6,000 only) also including the souvenir sheet (350 lekë).
I'm not sure of identifying all modules, spacecraft or celestial bodies present on this series, in particular (on the souvenir sheet) a view of the Earth from the Moon with the presence of the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), the spacecraft used during the American Apollo space program from 1961 to 1972 to land men on the Moon.
A satellite and a space shuttle are also featured on this souvenir sheet while the two stamps are respectively depicting some planets of the solar system (and a parabolic satellite communications antenna) and different modules having been apparently used on the planet Mars.

En 2012, l'Albanie a commémoré le 100ème anniversaire de son indépendance, proclamée le 28 novembre 1912 à Vlora, au moment où toute la région s'embrasait dans le tumulte des guerres balkaniques, prélude à la 1ère guerre mondiale...
Après avoir fait partie pendant près de 500 ans à l'empire ottoman, les grandes puissances reconnaissaient ce nouveau pays en 1913 et son territoire alors amputé de la moitié des régions où vivaient des albanais (dont le Kosovo ou une partie de la Macédoine).
L'Albanie a ensuite connu plusieurs périodes, république, monarchie, dictature communiste avant son ouverture sur le monde à partir des années 1990.
In 2012, Albania commemorated the 100th anniversary of its independence, proclaimed on November 28, 1912 in Vlora, when the entire region embroiled in the tumult of the Balkan wars, prelude to the 1st World War...
After almost 500 years of Ottoman rule, the great powers recognized the new country in 1913 and its territory then reduced by half of the regions inhabited by Albanians (including Kosovo and a part of Macedonia).
Albania then experienced several periods, republic, monarchy, communist dictatorship before its opening to the world from the 1990s.

La poste albanaise a bien sûr commémoré ce 100ème anniversaire de l'indépendance ("100 Vjet Pavarësi" en albanais) en émettant plusieurs séries de timbres en 2012, dont celui utilisé à gauche sur cette lettre ci-dessus, envoyée en recommandé le 4 décembre 2015 de Tirana. Merci beaucoup Sabri !
Ce timbre (40 lekë, tirage : 60000), conçu par Zeni Ballazhi, reproduit le logo officiel de ce 100ème anniversaire, évoquant l'aigle à deux têtes et les couleurs (rouge et noir) du drapeau albanais.
Cet aigle noir bicéphale daterait du 15ème siècle lorsque le héros national albanais Skanderberg (1405-1468) le représentait sur ses armoiries et le brandissait lors de batailles contre les ottomans.
Les 4 autres timbres se-tenant ci-dessus, émis le 14 novembre 2005, sont consacrés à des blasons de grandes familles nobles albanaises ayant marqué l'histoire du pays : Bua, Karl Topia, Dukagjini et Engjelli (de gauche à droite).
Ces 4 timbres ont été émis dans un même feuillet composé de 4 bandes de 4 timbres.
The Albanian Post of course commemorated this 100th anniversary of independence ("100 Vjet Pavarësi" in Albanian) by issuing several series of stamps in 2012, including the one used on the left on the cover above, sent by registered mail on December 4, 2015 from Tirana. Thank you very much Sabri !
That stamp (40 lekë, print run : 60,000), designed by Zeni Ballazhi, depicts the official logo of this 100th anniversary, referring to the two-headed eagle and the colors (red and black) of the Albanian flag.
This two-headed black eagle dates back to the 15th century when Albanian national hero Skanderbeg (1405-1468) represented it on his coat of arms and waved it in battles against the Ottoman.
The other 4 se-tenant stamps above, issued on November 14, 2005, are devoted to heraldry of main Albanian noble families having marked the country's history : Bua, Karl Topia, Dukagjini and Engjelli (from left to right).
These four stamps were issued in a single sheet containing 4 strips of 4 stamps. 
 

70th anniversary of United Nations in Albania

Comme 15 autres pays (dont l'Espagne, la Roumanie, l'Autriche ou l'Italie) admis le même jour à l'ONU (le 14 décembre 1955), l'Albanie a célébré cette année le 60ème anniversaire de son adhésion aux Nations Unies.
La poste albanaise n'a pas officiellement commémoré ce 60ème anniversaire mais a toutefois mis en circulation, le 24 octobre 2015, un timbre spécial (180 lekë) célébrant le 70ème anniversaire de la création des Nations Unies.
Comme d'autres administrations postales, la poste albanaise a émis ce timbre 70 ans jour pour jour après la ratification de la Charte des Nations Unies à San Francisco, le 24 octobre 1945.
Such as 15 other countries (including Spain, Romania, Austria or Italy) admitted the same day to the United Nations (on December 14, 1955), Albania celebrated this year the 60th anniversary of its UN membership.
The Albanian Post has not officially commemorated this 60th anniversary but has nevertheless put into circulation, on October 24, 2015, a special stamp (180 lekë) celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
Such as other postal administrations, the Albanian Post has issued this stamp 70 years to the day after the ratification of the United Nations Charter in San Francisco, on October 24, 1945.

Ce timbre comporte le logo officiel de ce 70ème anniversaire (mention "70-vjetori i OKB-së" en albanais) constitué du nombre "70" (avec l'emblème des Nations Unies à l'intérieur du "0") accompagné du slogan "Une ONU forte pour un monde meilleur", en anglais ici.

Diplomatic relations between Albania and Kuwait

Relations diplomatiques entre l'Albanie et le Koweït

Le 10 Avril 1968, la Mission du Koweït aux Nations Unies informait la délégation albanaise de la décision du Conseil des ministres de l'état du Koweït d'approuver l'établissement de relations diplomatiques avec la République populaire de l'Albanie à l'époque.
Le Conseil des ministres albanais confirmait officiellement le 3 juillet 1968 sa décision d'établir des relations diplomatiques avec l'état du Koweït et d'échanger des représentants diplomatiques au rang d'ambassadeurs extraordinaires et plénipotentiaires.
Les relations entre les 2 pays se sont particulièrement développées dans de nombreux domaines (éducation, infrastructures, santé, culture, économie...) à partir des années 1990 suite aux changements démocratiques en Albanie et l'ouverture du pays.
On April 10, 1968, the Mission of Kuwait to the United Nations informed the Albanian delegation about the decision of the Council of Ministers of the State of Kuwait to approve the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of Albania at the time.
The Albanian Council of Ministers officially confirmed on July 3, 1968 its decision to establish diplomatic relations with the State of Kuwait and to exchange diplomatic representatives in the rank of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors.
Relations between the two countries have been strengthened constantly in many areas (education, infrastructure, health, culture, economy...) in particular from the 1990s following the democratic changes in Albania and the opening of the country to the world.

La poste albanaise a sans doute oublié en 2013 de commémorer le 45ème anniversaire de l'établissement de ces relations diplomatiques avec le Koweït mais elle s'est rattrapée en 2014 (le 11 novembre précisément) avec l'émission d'un bloc-feuillet (composé de 2 timbres à 100 lekë) célébrant les relations et l'amitié entre les 2 pays.
C'est ce bloc-feuillet numéroté (tirage : 2650) qui a été utilisé pour affranchir la lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 23 novembre 2015 de Tirana. Merci beaucoup Sabri !
A noter que ce bloc a également été émis dans un carnet à tirage très limité (150), commercialisé à un prix de 680 lekë...
Conçus par Gentjan Gjikopulli, les timbres de ce bloc-feuillet représentent respectivement l'émir actuel du Koweït, Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jabir al-Sabah (plutôt inhabituel de voir des personnes vivantes sur des timbres albanais) ainsi que les drapeaux des 2 pays au-dessus d'une poignée de main.
A noter enfin que l'Albanie avait condamné l'invasion du Koweït par l'Irak au début des années 1990 et que le Koweït a établit des relations diplomatiques avec le Kosovo en 2013, des décisions qui ont renforcé les liens entre les 2 pays...
The Albanian Post has probably forgotten in 2013 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of these diplomatic relations with Kuwait but tried to redeem itself in 2014 (on November 11 exactly) with the issue of a souvenir sheet (consisting of two 100 lekë stamps) celebrating the relationship and friendship between the two countries.
It is that numbered souvenir sheet (print run : 2650) which was used to frank the cover above sent on November 23, 2015 from Tirana. Thank you very much Sabri !
To note that this souvenir sheet has also been issued in a limited edition booklet (only 150), marketed at a price of 680 lekë...
Designed by Gentjan Gjikopulli, the stamps of this souvenir sheet are respectively featuring the current Emir of Kuwait, Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah (rather unusual to see living people on Albanian stamps) as well as the flags of the two countries over a handshake.
Finally, to note that Albania had condemned the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq in the early 1990s and that Kuwait established diplomatic relations with Kosovo in 2013, decisions that have strengthened ties between the two countries...

Albania-Macedonia-Kosovo joint stamp issue : tribute to Mother Teresa

Émission commune Albanie-Macédoine-Kosovo : hommage à Mère Teresa

Le 26 aôut 2010, 100 ans jour pour jour après sa naissance à Skopje (capitale de l'Ex-République yougoslave de Macédoine), les 3 administrations postales d'Albanie, du Kosovo et de Macédoine ont émis un timbre commun consacré à Mère Teresa (1910-1997).
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir la lettre ci-dessous, avec TAD (rond, inhabituel) du 23 novembre 2015 de Tirana, affranchie avec la version albanaise de ce timbre. Merci beaucoup Sabri !
Ce timbre (100 lekë), conçu par Hyrije Ademi, montre un portrait de Mère Teresa dans son célèbre sari à bandes bleues des Missionnaires de la Charité, la congrégation religieuse catholique qu'elle a fondé à Calcultta en 1950.
On August 26, 2010, 100 years to the day after her birth in Skopje (capital of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), the three postal administrations of Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia issued a joint stamp dedicated to Mother Teresa (1910-1997).
I was very lucky to receive the cover below, with a postmark (round, very unusual) dated November 23, 2015 from Tirana, franked with the Albanian version of that stamp. Thank you very much Sabri !
That stamp (100 lekë), designed by Hyrije Ademi, shows a portrait of Mother Teresa in her famous sari with blue stripes of the Missionaries of Charity, the Catholic religious order she founded in 1950 in Calcultta.

Mère Teresa (Anjezë Gonxha Bojaxhiu de son vrai nom) est une religieuse catholique albanaise (née dans une famille albanaise du Kosovo), de nationalité indienne, missionnaire en Inde, en particulier à Calcutta où, pendant plus de 40 ans, elle a consacré sa vie aux pauvres, aux malades, aux laissés pour compte et aux mourants.
Perçue comme un modèle de bonté et d'altruisme, Mère Teresa a reçu le Prix Nobel de la Paix en 1979 et a été béatifiée par le pape Jean-Paul II en 2003.
A noter que d'autres administrations postales avaient également commémoré le 100ème anniversaire de sa naissance en 2010, en particulier la France, Monaco, l'Allemagne, la Serbie, l'Irlande, l'Autriche, la Bosnie-Herzégovine (HP Mostar) ou les USA.
Mother Teresa (Anjezë Gonxha Bojaxhiu is her real name) is a a Roman Catholic religious sister (born in a Kosovar Albanian family), Indian national, missionary in India, particularly in Calcutta where, for over 40 years, she dedicated her life to the poor, the sick and the dying.
Seen as a model of goodness and altruism, Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
To note that other postal administrations had also commemorated the 100th anniversary of her birth in 2010, in particular France, Monaco, Germany, Serbia, Ireland, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina (HP Mostar) or the USA.

Un grand merci Sabri pour cette jolie lettre recommandée ci-dessous, envoyée le 24 septembre 2015 de Tirana, la capitale albanaise, affranchie avec la série EUROPA émise le 9 mai 2000 !
Pour rappel, entre 1956 et 1973, les illustrations des timbres EUROPA (logo CEPT) étaient communes pour tous les pays européens participants. Depuis 1974, un thème commun est retenu et chaque pays peut l'illustrer à sa façon.
Une exception en 2000 puisque l'organisation PostEurop a décidé que le sujet du timbre EUROPA serait unique et qu'il serait émis dans chaque pays le 9 mai 2000, marquant le 50ème anniversaire de la déclaration de Robert Schuman, le texte fondateur de la construction européenne...
A big thank you Sabri for this nice registered letter below, sent on September 24, 2015 from Tirana, the Albanian capital, franked with the EUROPA stamp series issued on May 9, 2000 !

As a reminder, from 1956 to 1973, the illustrations of the EUROPA stamps (with then the CEPT logo) were common to all participating European countries. Since 1974, a common theme is chosen and each country is free to design stamps in its own way. 

An exception in 2000 when the postal organization PostEurop decided that the design of EUROPA stamp would be unique and would be issued in each country on May 9, 2000, marking the 50th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the founding text of the European construction...

La poste albanaise a décliné cette série en timbre (130 lekë, tirage : 70000) et bloc-feuillet numéroté (300 lekë, tirage : 50000), utilisés ci-dessus.
L'illustration de ce timbre est due à l'artiste français Jean-Paul Cousin qui l'a décrit ainsi : "D'une terre saine (vert), aux lignes courbes harmonieuses, estampillée avec le E de Europe, et sur un fond de ciel serein (bleu) couleur du drapeau de l'Europe, monte une colonne d'étoiles - symboles des pays de la Communauté européenne - construction où chaque élément a son dessin particulier, son positionnement et garde son individualité... Sur une ombre dessinant le E de Europe, viennent des quatre points cardinaux des enfants bruns et blonds symbolisant l'avenir, ceux par qui l'Europe se fera. Ils apportent des étoile futures, celles qui sont en gestation dans le ciel...
A noter que l'Albanie a émis ses premiers timbres EUROPA en 1992 (thème : 500ème anniversaire de la découverte de l'Amérique) et qu'un timbre commun sera à nouveau émis en 2016 ("think green") pour célébrer le 60ème anniversaire des timbres EUROPA).
The Albanian Post declined this series in stamp (130 lekë, print run : 70 000) and numbered souvenir sheet (300 lekë, print run : 50 000) used above.
The illustration of that stamp is due to the French artist Jean-Paul Cousin who described it like that : "Rising from the fertile earth (green), the harmonious curves - stamped with the "E" for Europe and set against a clear blue sky the colour of the European flag - a column of stars symbolises the countries of the European Community, an edifice where each element has its own particular design and position yet retains its individuality... On a shadow forming the "E" for Europe, children dark and fair approach from the four points of the compass, symbolising the future and those who will build this Europe. They bring the stars of the future, the stars that are still in the making in the skies"... 
To note that Albania issued its first EUROPA stamps in 1992 (theme : 500th anniversary of the discovery of America) and that a common stamp will be issued again in 2016 ("think green") to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first EUROPA stamps).

A ce jour, la poste albanaise (Posta Shqiptare) est la dernière administration postale européenne à avoir mis en circulation, le 2 septembre 2015 exactement, sa série EUROPA dont le thème est consacré cette année aux jouets anciens ("lodrat e vjetra" en albanais).
La poste albanaise a décliné cette émission en timbre (130 lekë, tirage : 368000), émis en feuille de 9 timbres, ainsi qu'en bloc-feuillet numéroté (tirage : 18000) composé d'un timbre à 250 lekë, dont le visuel est identique à celui du timbre isolé (concepteur : Petraq Papa).
To date, the Albanian Post (Posta Shqiptare) is the latest European postal administration to have put into circulation, on September 2, 2015 exactly, its EUROPA stamp series whose theme is dedicated this year to old toys ("lodrat e vjetra" in Albanian).
The Albanian Post has declined this issue in a stamp (130 lekë, print run : 368 000), issued in sheet of 9 stamps, as well as in a numbered souvenir sheet (print run : 18 000) composed of a 250 lekë stamp, with the same design as the stamp (designer : Petraq Papa).

Je n'ai malheureusement pas d'information détaillée à mentionner concernant le visuel de ce timbre, semblant représenter deux jouets en plastique dont un cheval à roulettes...
J'aime assez le bloc-feuillet (n° 1739 ici), incluant un jeune garçon à gauche ainsi que des enfants jouant au cerceau ou au ballon dans la marge supérieure.
A noter enfin qu'un carnet a également été émis dans cette même série (tirage : 5000, prix de vente : 610 lekë), composé d'un feuillet incluant le timbre et le bloc-feuillet ci-dessus.

Unfortunately I have no detailed information about that stamp, seeming to feature two plastic toys, including a horse on wheels...
I rather like the souvenir sheet (No. 1739 here), including a young boy to the left as well as children playing hoop or ball in the top margin.
Finally, to note that a booklet has also been issued in that same series (print run : 5 000, sale price : 610 lekë), consisting of a sheetlet including the stamp and souvenir sheet above.

Un grand merci Besnik pour cette jolie lettre envoyée en recommandé le 22 décembre 2014 de Tirana, la capitale albanaise :-)
Besnik a joint à  cette lettre une carte postale affranchie avec la série EUROPA 2014 (2 timbres), j'en reparle plus loin.
Pour l'affranchissement de ce courrier, Besnik a utilisé en haut à gauche 2 timbres identiques (5 lekë) faisant partie d'une série de 2 timbres, émise en 2009, consacrée à la sécurité routière.
Ce timbre, assez curieux, semble montrer un policier en matador avec une voiture en guise de taureau, attirée par sa muleta rouge...

For the postage of this letter, Besnik used at the top left, two identical stamps (5 lekë) being part of a series of 2 stamps, issued in 2009, dedicated to road safety.
That stamp, rather strange, seems to show a police officer in matador with a car as a bull, attracted by its red muleta...

Les 2 timbres identiques en haut à droite (50 lekë) font partie d'une série de 2 timbres, émise le 26 août 2011, consacrée à la boxe albanaise. De nombreux athlètes albanais se sont en effet illustrés dans ce sport de combat, la plupart ayant adopté une autre nationalité (Ibrahim Balla, Qamil Balla, Eder Kurti, Edis Tatli...).
Les 2 derniers timbres en bas à droite (100 lekë) font également partie d'une série de 2 timbres se-tenant, émise le 28 septembre 2012 à l'occasion du championnat d'Europe de football, organisé du 8 juin au 1er juillet 2012 en Pologne et en Ukraine.
Ces 2 timbres comportent dans le fond plusieurs drapeaux européens, y compris de pays non qualifiés pour cette compétition (Albanie, Turquie, Islande ou Finlande sur ce timbre).
A noter enfin la présence du drapeau du Royaume-Uni qui ne participe pourtant pas aux éliminatoires de ce championnat d'Europe (l'Angleterre, le Pays de Galles, l'Écosse ou l'Irlande du Nord y participent).
The two identical stamps in the top right (50 lekë) are part of a series of two stamps, issued on August 26, 2011, devoted to Albanian boxing. Many Albanian athletes indeed performed in this combat sport, most have them having adopted another nationality (Ibrahim Balla, Qamil Balla, Eder Kurti, Edis Tatli...).
The last two stamps at the bottom right (100 lekë) are also part of a set of two se-tenant stamps, issued on September 28, 2012 at the occasion of the European Football Championship (UEFA Euro), held from June 8 to July 1 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
These two stamps include in their background several European flags, including countries not qualified for this competition (Albania, Turkey, Iceland or Finland on that stamp).
Finally, to note the presence of the flag of the United Kingdom which however do not participate in the qualifying phase for this UEFA Euro (England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland participated).

Ces 2 timbres, conçus par Naxhi Bakalli, ont été émis se-tenant dans un même feuillet de 8 timbres ainsi que dans un bloc-feuillet (avec vignette centrale) émis dans un carnet.
Un type de cornemuse, appelé "gajdja" (100 lekë), conçue à partir de peau de chèvre ou mouton retournée et composé d'un seul bourdon (instrument populaire dans le sud du pays) et un grand tambour à 2 faces (frappé avec des maillets) appelé "lodra" (150 lekë), proche du dohol ou du davul, sont représentés sur cette série.
On October 9, 2014, the Albanian Post issued the two stamps of its EUROPA series, devoted to the theme of national musical instruments this year.
These two stamps, designed by Naxhi Bakalli, were issued se-tenant in a same sheet of 8 stamps as well as in a souvenir sheet (with a central vignette) issued in a booklet.
A type of bagpipe, called "gajdja" (100 lekë), made from goat or sheep returned skin and with a single drone (popular in south of the country) as well as a large double-headed drum (played with mallets) called "lodra" (150 lekë), looking like the dohol or davul, are featured in this series.

Pope Francis's Visit to Albania

Après la Corée du sud en août 2014, le pape François a effectué, le 21 septembre 2014, sa première visite sur le continent européen (hors Italie), en Albanie.
Cette visite de 11 heures se voulait symbolique dans un pays considéré par le Vatican comme un modèle d'harmonie entre les différentes religions, y compris au sein du gouvernement albanais d'union nationale, incluant des musulmans (la religion principale du pays), des orthodoxes et des chrétiens.
Mais le pape François est surtout venu rendre hommage aux 130 martyrs chrétiens qui furent exécutés ou morts en détention lorsque le pays (un état athée à partir de 1967) fut dirigé par le dictateur communiste Enver Hoxha, entre 1944 et 1985...
Pendant son séjour en Albanie, le pape a rencontré les personnalités politiques et religieuses du pays et célébré une messe sur la place Mère Teresa à Tirana.
After South Korea in August 2014, Pope Francis made, on September 21, 2014, his first visit on the European continent (excepting Italy), in Albania.
This 11-hours visit was very symbolic in a country considered by the Vatican as a model of harmony between the different religions, including in the Albanian government of national unity, with Muslims (the main religion of the country), Orthodox and Christians members.
But Pope Francis came here above all to honor the 130 Christian martyrs who were executed or died in detention when the country (an atheist state from 1967) was ruled by the communist dictator Enver Hoxha, between 1944 and 1985...
During his visit in Albania, the pope met with political and religious leaders of the country and celebrated Mass in Mother Teresa square in Tirana.

Ce 21 septembre 2014, la poste albanaise a mis en circulation un timbre spécial (100 lekë) consacré à cette visite pastorale, incluant un portrait du pape François ainsi qu'un des symboles du pays, le monument Skanderbeg à Tirana.
La maquette de ce timbre (tirage : 5000 seulement) avait été au préalable approuvée par le Vatican.

Skanderberg, un seigneur albanais du 15ème siècle, est considéré comme un héros national pour sa résistance à l'Empire ottoman (son célèbre casque avec une tête de chèvre figure d'ailleurs sur les armoiries du pays, au dessus de l'aigle bicéphale).
A noter que le pape Jean-Paul II fut le premier pape à se rendre en Albanie en 1993 juste après la fin de la guerre froide (la poste albanaise avait déjà émis un timbre à cette occasion)...
This September 21, 2014, the Albanian Post released a special stamp (100 lekë) devoted to this pastoral visit, featuring a portrait of Pope Francis as well as one of the symbols of the country, Skanderbeg monument in Tirana.
The design of that stamp (print run : 5,000 only) was previously approved by the Vatican).

Skanderbeg, an Albanian nobleman of the 15th century, is considered a national hero for his resistance to the Ottoman Empire (his famous helmet with a goat's head is included on the coat of arms of the country, over the two-headed eagle).
To note that Pope John Paul II was the first pope to visit Albania in 1993 just after the end of the Cold War (the Albanian Post had already issued a stamp on this occasion)...

Un grand merci Besnik pour cette nouvelle lettre postée le 9 octobre 2013 (la Journée Mondiale de la Poste) du bureau de poste ("Zyra Postare") n°8 de la capitale albanaise, Tirana !
Besnik a utilisé 6 timbres différents émis entre 1990 et 2011 incluant des mentions différentes : "RPS e Shqipërisë" pour "Republika Popullore Socialiste e Shqipërisë" (utilisée jusqu'en 1990) puis "Posta Shqiptare" (de 1991 à 1995) et enfin "Shqipëria" (depuis 1995)...
Le timbre en haut à droite (0,90 lek), émis en 1991, célèbre l'adhésion de l'Albanie à la CEPT ("Conférence européenne des administrations des postes et télécommunications"). Ce timbre comporte le célèbre logo de la CEPT qui figurait sur les séries EUROPA jusqu'en 1992.
L'Albanie émettra ses 1ers timbres EUROPA en 1992, l'année où a été émis le timbre en haut à gauche ci-dessous incluant la mention "Drejt Evropës" ("vers l'Europe") signifiant sans doute les aspirations de ce pays à rejoindre l'UE un jour...

Besnik has used six different stamps issued between 1990 and 2011 including various mentions : "RPS e Shqipërisë" meaning "Republika Popullore Socialiste e Shqipërisë" (used until 1990), "Posta Shqiptare" (from 1991 to 1995) and finally "Shqipëria "(from 1995)...
The stamp in the upper right (0.90 lek), issued in 1991, was celebrating the accession of Albania to the CEPT ("European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations"). That stamp features the famous CEPT's logo that appeared on the EUROPA stamp series until 1992.
Albania's first EUROPA stamps were issued in 1992, the year of issue of the stamp in the upper left below including the words "Drejt Evropës" ("to Europe"), meaning probably the aspirations of this country to join EU one day...

Le timbre en bas à droite (1,20 lek) fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres émise en 1990 consacrée au 800ème anniversaire de la Principauté d'Arbëria (1190-1255), considéré comme le 1er état albanais au Moyen-Age.
Le timbre en haut (70 lekë) fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres émise en 2010 pour commémorer le 90ème anniversaire du Congrès de Lushnjë. Ce congrès national albanais, organisé du 21 janvier au 9 février 1920 dans la ville de Lushnjë, devait assurer le maintien de l'indépendance du pays après la 1ère guerre mondiale.
L'autre timbre en haut (10 lekë) fait partie d'une série de 3 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet émise en 2011, consacrée au nu dans l'art figuratif albanais. Ce timbre reproduit une oeuvre du plus grand peintre impressionniste albanais du 20ème siècle, Vangjush Mio (1891-1959). 
Le dernier timbre (20 lekë) fait partie d'une série émise en 2010 consacrée à l'artisanat national albanais, une pièce d'orfèvrerie en argent ici.

The stamp in the lower right (1.20 lek) is part of a series of two stamps issued in 1990 devoted to the 800th anniversary of the Principality of Arbëria (1190-1255), considered as the first Albanian state during the Middle Ages.

En attendant peut-être avant la fin de l'année la série de la poste georgienne, la poste albanaise est la dernière en date à avoir émis, le 4 octobre 2013, sa série de timbres EUROPA.
Deux timbres se-tenant (80 lekë et 200 lekë) émis dans une même mini-feuille de 10 timbres (5 paires), conçus par Laert Kraja, ont été émis (tirage : 13750 séries et 50000 timbres à 80 lekë).
A noter qu'un carnet composé des 2 mêmes timbres a également été émis à 4000 exemplaires.
Waiting for, maybe before the end of the year, the series issued by the Georgian Post, the Albanian Post is the latest one to have issued on October 4, 2013, its EUROPA stamp set.

Laert Kraja declined this theme by symbolizing a variety of means of transport of mail (van, truck, train, plane, cargo), all bearing the logo of the Albanian Post, around a globe curiously featuring the American continent...

Cette carte postale est consacrée à l'ancienne ville grecque d'Apollonia fondée au 6ème siècle avant JC et située actuellement près de la ville albanaise de Fier (centre-ouest du pays).
Le monument des Agonothètes avec ses 6 colonnes de style corinthien, un des mieux conservés de cette cité antique, est représenté ici.
This postcard is dedicated to the ancient Greek city of Apollonia founded in the 6th century BC and located today near the Albanian town of Fier (center-west of the country).
The Monument of Agonothetes with its six Corinthian columns, one of the best preserved of this ancient city, is depicted here.

Cette série, conçue par M. Delija, me rappelle un des 2 timbres EUROPA émis par la poste du Monténégro, avec cette carte de l'Europe incluse dans le feuillage d'un arbre composant une forêt (environ 30% du pays est couvert de forêts).
Seule l'Europe géographique a été représentée sur le bloc-feuillet. La Turquie n'a en effet droit qu'à sa petite partie européenne (Istanbul) alors que le pays (idem pour le Kazakhstan) est membre à part entière de PostEurop...
Les îles de Crète, Chypre ou Malte ont été également omises ??
A noter enfin la forte valeur faciale de cette série (450 lekë = 3,21 €) !
This series, designed by M. Delija, reminds me one of the two EUROPA stamps issued by the Post of Montenegro, with this map of Europe included in the foliage of a tree being part of a forest (approximately 30% of the country is covered by forests).
Only geographical Europe is featured on the souvenir sheet. Turkey is indeed entitled to its small European part (Istanbul) as the country (the same for Kazakhstan) is a full member of the PostEurop organization...
The islands of Crete, Cyprus and Malta have also been omitted ??
It's worth noting to conclude the high nominal value of this series (450 Lekë = € 3.21) !

The American singer and actor John Belushi (1949-1982), one of two founding members of the famous band "The Blues Brothers" is honored here.

Les 3 autres timbres ont tous été émis en 2010. Celui à 40 Lekë fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres et 1 bloc-feuillet consacrés au 20ème anniversaire du mouvement étudiant de 1990 contre le dictature communiste. Cette révolution marquera l'avènement de la démocratie et du multipartisme en Albanie.
Azem Hajdari (1963-1998), le leader de ce mouvement étudiant est représenté sur ce timbre. Assassiné en 1998, il sera honoré à titre posthume du titre de "Martyr de la démocratie"...
Le timbre à 10 Lekë fait partie d'une série consacrée à la journée nationale du patrimoine culturel. La maison Zekate, un édifice caractéristique de la vieille ville de Gjirokastra, située dans le sud de l'Albanie (proche de la frontière grecque), est représentée sur ce timbre.
Cette maison fortifiée à tourelles (appelée "kullë"), construite au début du 19ème siècle, fait partie du patrimoine du centre historique de cette ville-citadelle classée à l'UNESCO en 2005.
Le dernier timbre (20 Lekë) fait partie d'une autre série consacrée à l'artisanat national albanais, une pièce d'orfèvrerie en argent ici.

The 40 Lekë's one is part of a series of two stamps and one souvenir sheet devoted to the 20th anniversary of the 1990's student movement against the Communist dictatorship. This revolution will mark the advent of democracy and multiparty system in Albania.
Azem Hajdari (1963-1998), the leader of this student movement, is featured on this stamp. Assassinated in 1998, he was awarded a "Martyr of Democracy" posthumously...
The 10 Lekë stamp is part of a series issued at the occasion of the national day of cultural heritage. The Zekate House, a typical building of the old city of Gjirokastër, located in southern Albania (near the Greek border), is depicted on this stamp. This fortified house with turrets (called "kullë"), built in the early 19th century, is part of the heritage of this historic citadel town classified by UNESCO in 2005.
The last stamp above (20 Lekë) is part of another series devoted to Albanian national crafts, a silverware piece here.

Le timbre du milieu (20 lekë) fait partie d'une série de 4 timbres, émis le 8 août 2008, consacrée aux jeux olympiques de Pékin. Chaque timbre représente une épreuve sportive (le football ici) stylisée ainsi que l'emblème des jeux de Pékin. Les 3 autres timbres de la série montrent des épreuves de water-polo, d'athlétisme et de cyclisme.
Le graphisme de cette série me rappelle le bloc-feuillet émis par la principauté d'Andorre (poste française)...
Sauf erreur de ma part, l'Albanie n'a remporté aucune médaille olympique depuis sa 1ère participation en 1972...

The stamp in the middle (20 lekë) is part of a series of four stamps, issued on August 8, 2008, devoted to the Beijing Olympic Games. Each stamp is depicting a stylized sporting event (football here) and the logo of the Beijing Games. The three other stamps in this series are about water-polo, athletics and cycling.
The graphics in this series reminds me of the souvenir sheet issued by the Principality of Andorra (French Post)...
If I'm not wrong, Albania hasn't won any Olympic medal since its first participation in 1972...

Les 2 autres timbres ci-dessus, émis en 2007, sont consacrés à deux grandes personnalités albanaises.
Celui à gauche commémore les 10 ans de la mort de Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, plus connue sous son nom de religieuse catholique Mère Térésa (1910-1997), née albanaise en Macédoine voisine.
A travers sa congrégation des Missionnaires de la Charité, Mère Térésa (Nënë Tereza en albanais) consacra sa vie aux pauvres et malades, en particulier à Calcutta en Inde. Prix Nobel de la paix en 1979, elle sera béatifiée par le pape Jean-Paul II en 2003.
A noter que l'aéroport international de Tirana porte son nom depuis 2001 et que la poste française émettra un timbre en son honneur en 2010 (100 ans de sa naissance).
Le timbre à droite fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres célébrant le 95ème anniversaire de l'indépendance de l'Albanie en 1912, après avoir fait partie pendant près de 500 ans à l'empire ottoman. Ce timbre montre l'aigle noir à deux têtes sur fond rouge du drapeau albanais et le portrait de Ismail Qemali, ou Ismail Kemal Bej Vlora (1844-1919) à gauche, principale figure de la déclaration d'indépendance de l'Albanie et 1er chef de gouvernement à partir du 29 novembre 1912.

Through her congregation of the Missionaries of Charity, Mother Teresa (Nënë Tereza in Albanian) devoted her life to the poor and helpless, in particular in Calcutta, India. Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, Mother Teresa was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
It's worth noting that the Tirana International Airport was named after her in 2001 and that the French Post will issue a stamp in her honor in 2010 (100th anniversary of her birth).
The other stamp on the right is part of a set of two stamps celebrating the 95th anniversary of Independence of Albania in 1912, after almost 500 years of Ottoman rule. This stamp depicts the black two-headed eagle on a red background of the Albanian flag and the portrait of Ismail Qemali or Ismail Kemal Bej Vlora (1844-1919) on the left, a principal figure of the Albanian declaration of independence and first Head of state and government from November 29, 1912.
