En 2007, 2009 et 2011, les administrations postales européennes membres de l'association Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) ont émis des séries de timbres ayant un thème commun, à savoir des paysages caractéristiques de chacun de ces pays ou territoires.
Le rythme de ces émissions Sepac est ensuite devenu annuel puisqu'en 2013, le thème était consacré aux animaux, aux fleurs en 2014, à la culture en 2015 et aux saisons en 2016.
Il y a actuellement 14 membres même si Saint-Marin et le Vatican n'ont jamais participé à ces émissions Sepac, caractérisées par la présence du logo Sepac sur les timbres.
La poste d'Åland participe à ces émissions Sepac depuis 2007 et c'est le timbre Sepac 2015 (émis le 10 avril) qui a été utilisé pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 13 juin 2016 depuis la municipalité d'Eckerö. Merci beaucoup Liisa !
In 2007, 2009 and 2011, the European postal administrations, members of the Sepac Association (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) have issued stamps series with a common theme, namely the characteristic landscapes of each of these countries or territories.
The rhythm of the Sepac stamp issues became annual since in 2013, the theme was devoted to animals, to flowers in 2014, to culture 2015 and seasons in 2016.
There are currently 14 Sepac members even if San Marino and Vatican have never participated in these Sepac issues, characterized by the presence of the Sepac logo on the stamps.
The Post of Åland participates in these Sepac issues since 2007 and it is the Sepac 2015 stamp (issued on April 10) which was used to frank the nice letter below sent on June 13, 2016 from the municipality of Eckerö. Thank you very much Liisa !

A noter le TAD spécial de cette localité d'Eckerö (ville située le plus à l'ouest de l'archipel d'Åland) montrant l'ancien bâtiment de la poste et des douanes ("post-och tullhuset") datant de 1828, conçu par les architectes Carl Ludvig Engel et Carlo Bassi.
Le timbre ci-dessus (3€, tirage : 140000, conception : Cecilia Mattsson), un des plus grands timbres émis par la poste d'Åland (62 x 41 mm), reproduit une oeuvre intitulée "Midvinterblot" (1915) du peintre suédois Carl Larsson (1853-1919), célèbre en particulier pour ses peintures ou fresques monumentales (qui permettaient un accès à ses oeuvres pour un large public).
Cette oeuvre monumentale (6,4 x 13,6 mètres) a fait polémique puisqu'elle était destinée au musée national des beaux-arts de Stockholm qui refusa en 1916, le tableau étant finalement installé à sa place originelle seulement en 1992 !
"Midvinterblot" représente une scène de la mythologie nordique décrite dans l'Ynglingatal relatant la mort du roi Domalde, qui se sacrifie pour mettre un terme aux années de famine ayant frappé son peuple.
L'oeuvre reproduite sur ce timbre est une 2ème version de cette peinture, plus petite et signée par Carl Larsson, faisant partie de la collection privée de l'homme d'affaire alandais Anders Wiklöf depuis 2002.
To note the special cancellation from this locality of Eckerö (the westernmost municipality of the archipelago of Åland) showing the old mail and customs house ("post-och tullhuset") dating from 1828, designed by the architects Carl Ludvig Engel and Carlo Bassi.
The stamp above (€ 3.00, print run : 140,000, design : Cecilia Mattsson), one of the largest stamps ever issued by the Post of Åland (62 x 41 mm), reproduces a work entitled "Midvinterblot" (1915) by Swedish painter Carl Larsson (1853-1919), famous in particular for his monumental paintings or frescoes (the result of his ambition to make his work available and accessible to the public).
This monumental work (6.4 x 13.6 meters) was controversial because it was created for the National Museum of Fine Arts in Stockholm, which refused in 1916, the painting being finally installed in its original place only in 1992 !
"Midvinterblot" depicts a scene from Norse mythology described in Ynglingatal recounting the death of King Domalde, who sacrifices himself to end the years of famine that struck his people.
The work reproduced on that stamp is actually a second version of this painting, smaller and signed by Carl Larsson, part of the private collection of Åland businessman Anders Wiklöf since 2002.

Bestiaire fabuleux et timbre Sepac sur lettre d'Islande

Le 19 mars 2009, la poste islandaise a mis en circulation un impressionnant bloc-feuillet (10 timbres) consacré au bestiaire fabuleux des contes populaires islandais.
Conçus par Hlynur Ólafsson à partir de dessins de Jón Baldur Hlíðberg, ces timbres (80 ISK chacun) représentent des créatures mythiques qui, selon des légendes islandaises, peuplaient les airs, la terre et les eaux.
6 timbres extraits de ce bloc-feuillet ont été utilisés pour affranchir la lettre de la poste islandaise ci-dessous, envoyée le 19 novembre 2015 de Reykjavik.
Parmi les créatures représentées ici : Öfuguggi ou "Truite à Rebours", dont les nageoires étaient orientées vers l'avant ou Selamóðir ou "Mère Phoque" qui protége les phoques de taille normale menacés.
On March 19, 2009, the Icelandic Post has put into circulation an impressive souvenir sheet (10 stamps) devoted to the fabulous bestiary of Icelandic folk tales.
Designed by Hlynur Ólafsson from Jón Baldur Hlíðberg's drawings, these stamps (80 ISK each) are featuring some mythical creatures which, according to Icelandic legends, peopled the air, land and sea.
Six stamps from this souvenir sheet have been used to frank this letter from the Icelandic Post below, sent on November 19, 2015 from Reykjavik.
Among the creatures depicted here : Öfuguggi or "Reverse-Fin Trout" with all fins turning forward instead of backward and Selamóðir or "Seal Mother" which protects normal-sized seals if they are threatened.

Les 4 autres créatures représentées sont Sæneyti, ou "Bovin des mers", une espèce amphibie qui se mêlait parfois aux vrais troupeaux, Skeljaskrímsli ou "Monstre écailleux", Urðarköttur, une espèce de gros chat qui niche dans les cimetières et dort sur les cadavres et Fjörulalli ou "Rôdeur des Grèves" qui hantait les côtes et s'en prenait aux brebis pendant le rut.
L'autre timbre ci-dessus (120 ISK, conception : Borgar H. Árnason et Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson), émis le 16 septembre 2009, se-tenant avec un autre timbre, est consacré à un site naturel splendide, le parc de Skaftafell.
Ce timbre inclut le logo Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation).
Depuis le 7 juin 2008, ce parc, créé en 1967, a fusionné avec le parc de Jökulsárgljúfur pour former le parc national du Vatnajökull, situé dans le sud-est du pays et couvrant une superficie de 12000 km², soit 11% de la surface de l'Islande.
Tirant son nom du plus grand glacier d'Europe, signifiant "glacier des eaux", il est aussi le plus grand parc d'Europe.
The four other creatures featured are Sæneyti or "Sea Cattle", an amphibious species that sometimes mingled with real herds, Skeljaskrímsli or "Shellmonster", Urðarköttur or "Ghoul cat", a species of big cat nesting in cemeteries and sleeping on corpses and Fjörulalli or "Beach walker" which haunted the coasts and attacked the sheep during the rut period.
The other stamp above (120 ISK, design : Borgar H. Árnason and Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson), issued on September 16, 2009, se-tenant with another stamp, is devoted to a beautiful natural site, the Skaftafell Park.
That stamp includes the Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) logo.
Since June 7, 2008, this Park, created in 1967, merged with the Park of Jökulsárgljúfur to form the Vatnajökull National Park, located in south-east Iceland, covering an area of 12.000 km², or 11% of the surface of the country.
Named after the largest glacier in Europe, meaning "glacier of lakes", it is also the largest Park in Europe.

Pour rappel, il y a actuellement 14 membres (pays ou territoires) de cette association postale et, à ce jour, Saint-Marin et le Vatican n'ont jamais participé à ces émissions, caractérisées par la présence du logo Sepac sur les timbres.

La principauté de Monaco participe à ses émissions Sepac depuis 2007 et a émis cette année, le 17 juin 2015, un timbre (1,20€) illustrant ce thème de la culture (un thème trop large à mon avis pour que l'ensemble des timbres Sepac ait un aspect homogène...).
Ce timbre (tirage : 50000), conçu par Claude Rosticher, est ainsi sensé évoquer à la fois, les arts, la danse, le théâtre et les sciences !
C'est ce timbre qui a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessus, envoyée le 4 novembre 2015, avec TAD de l'OETP. Merci beaucoup Roland !
Les célèbres Ballets de Monte-Carlo et le musée océanographique de Monaco (un autre timbre a été émis cette année pour célébrer le 50.000.000ème visiteur de ce musée depuis 1910 !) sont à l'honneur sur ce timbre, assez laid je dois dire...
The Principality of Monaco is involved in these Sepac stamp issues since 2007 and has issued this year, on June 17, 2015, a stamp (€ 1.20) illustrating this theme of culture (a too large topic in my opinion, so Sepac stamps have not a homogeneous aspect...).
That stamp (print run : 50,000), designed by Claude Rosticher, is thus supposed to evoke both, arts, dance, theater and science !
It is that stamp which was used on the letter above, sent on November 4, 2015, with the hand postmark of the OETP. Thank you very much Roland !
The famous "Les Ballets de Monte Carlo" and the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco (another stamp was issued this year to celebrate its 50 millionth visitor since 1910 !) are featured on that stamp, rather ugly I've to say...

Heureux de partager avec vous cette nouvelle intéressante lettre d'Islande, envoyée de Reykjavik le 25 novembre 2015, affranchie avec différents timbres émis dans la 1ère moitié de l'année 2015, dont le timbre Sepac ("Small European Postal Administration Cooperation"), émis le 19 février 2015 et ayant pour thème le festival musical "Iceland Airwaves", dont j'ai déjà parlé sur ce blog.
Le timbre en bas à gauche (tarif B50g intérieur, 137 ISK - tirage : 80000), émis le 30 avril 2015, conçu par Oscar Bjarnason, commémore le 200ème anniversaire de la création de l'Association Biblique d'Islande.
Fondée lors d'un synode à Reykjavik le 10 juillet 1815, cette association (la plus ancienne du pays) a pour mission de gérer l'impression, la diffusion et l'interprétation de la Bible.
Happy to share with you this new interesting letter from Iceland, sent from Reykjavik on November 25, 2015, franked with different stamps issued in the first half of 2015, including the Sepac ("Small European Postal Administration Cooperation") stamp, issued on February 19, 2015 and devoted to the music festival "Iceland Airwaves", about which I've already spoken on this blog.
The stamp on the bottom left (B50g domestic rate, 137 ISK - print run : 80,000), issued on April 30, 2015, designed by Oscar Bjarnason, commemorates the 200th anniversary of the creation of the Icelandic Bible Society.
Founded during a synod in Reykjavik on July 10, 1815, this association (the oldest of the country) has for mission the publishing and the diffusion of the Bible as well as providing guidelines for reading it.

Les 2 autres timbres en haut à droite, autocollants, ont le sport pour thème, en particulier le vélo avec ce timbre rond, émis le 19 février 2015, consacré au 125ème anniversaire du cyclisme en Islande.
Ce timbre (tarif B50g intérieur, 137 ISK - tirage : 80000), conçu par Hany Hadaya, montre une roue arrière d'un vélo actuel, avec une piste cyclable de la capitale islandaise dans le fond.
Les premières bicyclettes d'importation ont en effet circulé à Reykjavik en 1890.
Le dernier timbre (tarif 50g vers l'Europe, 180 ISK - tirage : 80000), émis le 30 avril 2015, est consacré à la 16ème édition des jeux des petits états d'Europe (JPEE), organisés en Islande du 1er au 6 juin 2015.
Ce timbre, conçu par Elsa Nielsen, représente les pictogrammes des 11 disciplines sportives au programme de ces jeux, ainsi que le logo de cette compétition, symbolisant la nature islandaise.
Ces jeux, organisés tous les 2 ans depuis 1985, sont une compétition sportive entre les 9 pays européens ayant une population inférieure à 1 million d'habitants (Andorre, Chypre, Islande, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malte, Monaco, Monténégro et Saint-Marin).
A domicile, l'Islande a fini en tête de ces jeux avec 115 médailles (dont 38 en or) devant le Luxembourg et Chypre.
The other two self-adhesive stamps at the top right are devoted to sport, in particular bicycle with this round stamp, issued on February 19, 2015, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of cycling in Iceland.
That stamp (B50g domestic rate, 137 ISK - print run : 80,000), designed by Hany Hadaya, shows a rear wheel of a bicycle used today, with a cycle path in the Icelandic capital in the background.
The first bicycles known to have been imported to Iceland were indeed seen in 1890.
The last stamp (50g to Europe rate, 180 ISK - print run : 80,000), issued on April 30, 2015, is devoted to the 16th edition of the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), held in Iceland from 1 to 6 June 2015.
That stamp, designed by Elsa Nielsen, shows the 11 pictograms of the sports at the program of these games, as well as the logo of this competition, symbolizing Icelandic nature.
These games, held every two years since 1985, are a sports competition between the 9 European countries with a population under 1 million (Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro and San Marino).
At home, Iceland finished at the first rank of these games with 115 medals (38 in gold) ahead of Luxembourg and Cyprus.

That stamp (50g to Europe, ISK 180) is dedicated to the music festival Iceland Airwaves, held annually since 1999 in Reykjavik, for 5 days in October/November, a symbol of the vitality of the Icelandic music scene (Björk, GusGus or Sígur rós).

Le timbre "aurore boréale" en haut à droite (50g vers l'Europe, 180 ISK) fait partie d'un bloc-feuillet (4 timbres autocollants) émis le 2 mai 2013 à l'occasion de l'exposition philatélique NORDIA organisée cette année-là en Islande.
Un guillemot de Brünnich (Uria lomvia) est représenté sur le timbre à 110 ISK émis le 5 novembre 2009 dans une série de 2 timbres consacrée à des espèces d'oiseaux. Cet oiseau, nichant sur les falaises, vit principalement en Islande (600000 couples) à Látrabjarg et Hornbjarg dans les Fjords de l'ouest.
Le timbre à 90 ISK, émis le 6 mai 2010, fait partie d'une série consacrée aux jardins publics, Jónsgarður ici, le plus ancien jardin public de la ville de Ísafjörður (péninsule nord-ouest du pays), ouvert en 1922.
Le dernier timbre (80 ISK) fait partie d'une série de 2 timbres, émise le 29 janvier 2009, ayant pour thèmes les araignées et insectes (série débutée en 2004), un moucheron velu (Psychodidae) ici, dont 2 espèces ont été observées en Islande.
The "Northern lights" stamp in the upper right (50g to Europe, ISK 180) is part of a souvenir sheet (4 self-adhesive stamps) issued on May 2, 2013 on the occasion of the philatelic exhibition NORDIA organized this year in Iceland.
A thick-billed murre (Uria lomvia) is featured on the ISK 110 stamp issued on November 5, 2009 in a series of two stamps devoted to bird species. This bird, nesting on the cliffs, is mainly found in Iceland (600,000 couples) in Látrabjarg and Hornbjarg in the Westfjords.
The ISK 90 stamp, issued on May 6, 2010, is part of a series devoted to garden parks, Jónsgarður here, the oldest public park in the town of Ísafjörður (northwest peninsula of the country) opened in 1922.
The last stamp (80 ISK) is part of a set of two stamps, issued on January 29, 2009, having spiders and insects for theme (a series started in 2004), a moth fly (Psychodidae) here, two species having been registered in Iceland.

Il semble que le rythme de ces émissions Sepac soit devenu annuel puisqu'en 2013, le thème était consacré aux animaux et les fleurs sont à l'honneur en 2014.
Il y a actuellement 14 membres de cette association postale, avec le Vatican qui en fait partie depuis 2011.
A ce jour, Saint-Marin et le Vatican n'ont jamais participé à ces émissions, caractérisées par la présence du logo Sepac sur les timbres.

Le 26 février 2014, l'administration postale des îles Féroé a émis son timbre Sepac, représentant une fleur de rosier à feuilles molles ou églantier mou (Rosa mollis).
C'est ce joli timbre (14,50 DKK, photographie de Jens Kjeld Jensen) qui a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessus postée le 13 mars 2014 de Torshavn, la capitale de cet archipel. Merci beaucoup Jia Yi :-)
Cet arbuste à fleurs, qui aurait été importé par les Vikings il y a 1000 ans, a été observé dans de rares endroits des Féroé (Vestmanna, Eiði et Haldórsvík) au milieu du 20ème siècle puis a disparu.
L'administration des forêts féroïennes (Skógrøkt Landsins) avait toutefois collecté des graines de ce rosier à Haldórsvík et la seule rose originelle y fleurit encore aujourd'hui, ainsi que dans un petit nombre de jardins, en particulier celui situé à Nólsoy.
On February 26, 2014, the postal administration of the Faroe Islands has issued its Sepac stamp, featuring a flower of soft downy rose (Rosa mollis).
It is that nice stamp (14.50 DKK, photography by Jens Kjeld Jensen) that was used on the cover above mailed on March 13, 2014 from Torshavn, the capital of this archipelago. Thank you very much Jia Yi :-)
This flowering shrub, which was imported by the Vikings 1,000 years ago, has been observed in a few places in the Faroe Islands (Vestmanna, Eiði and Haldórsvík) in the mid 20th century and then disappeared.
The Faroese Forest administration (Skógrøkt Landsins) however had collected some seeds of this rose in Haldórsvík and the only original rose is still blooming there today, as well as in a small number of gardens, in particular in Nólsoy.

Série EUROPA 2011 à Malte

Maltese EUROPA 2011 stamps

Merci beaucoup Silvan de me permettre d'évoquer la série EUROPA émise cette année par la poste de Malte à travers cette jolie lettre recommandée postée le 8 juin 2011 du village de Għaxaq (situé dans le sud-est de l'île principale) !
Malta Post a émis, comme d'habitude, deux timbres (0,37€ et 1,19€) le 9 mai 2011, Journée de l'Europe, chacun émis en feuille de 10 timbres + 2 vignettes.
Silvan a d'ailleurs eu la bonne idée d'inclure ces 2 vignettes en haut à gauche, représentant le tout nouveau logo de la poste maltaise et le nouveau logo EUROPA en vigueur depuis cette année.
Ces 2 timbres EUROPA, en haut à droite, évoquent la forêt, le thème retenu cette année par l'organisation PostEurop.
La poste maltaise a choisi de reproduire deux dessins réalisés par deux écolières de 14 ans, Nicole Sciberras de la Malta School of Art à La Vallette et Brenda Camenzuli du St Ignatius College à Blata l-Bajda.
Thank you very much Silvan for allowing me to speak about the EUROPA series issued this year by the Post of Malta through this beautiful registered letter mailed on June 8, 2011 from the village of Għaxaq (located in the southeast of the main island) !
Malta Post has issued, as usual, two stamps (€ 0.37 and € 1.19) on May 9 2011, Europe's Day, each issued in sheet of 10 stamps + 2 coupons.
Silvan has also had the good idea to include these two coupons at the top left, featuring the new logo of the Maltese Post and also the new EUROPA logo in force this year.
These two EUROPA stamps, top right, evoke the forests, the theme chosen this year by the postal organization PostEurop.
The Maltese Post has chosen to reproduce two drawings by two 14-years old students, Nicole Sciberras of Malta School of Art in Valletta and Brenda Camenzuli of the St. Ignatius College in Blata l-Bajda.

Le challenge était très relevé car l'archipel maltais est caractérisé par une absence quasi-générale de forêts !
Le timbre à 0,37€ évoque la petite forêt de Buskett, située sur la commune de Rabat, dominée par le Palais Verdala, une résidence officielle du président de la république.
Je ne sais pas malheureusement où est située la chapelle représentée sur l'autre timbre ?
Silvan a utilisé un 3ème timbre faisant partie d'une jolie série de 3 timbres, émise le 9 mars 2011, intitulée "Paysages - Trésors de Malte".
Ce timbre, le seul de la série, comporte le logo Sepac, l'acronyme anglais de l'association des 13 petites administrations postales européennes qui émet tous les 2 ans (depuis 2007) des timbres sur un thème commun (les paysages).
Ce timbre est conçu par Edward Said, l'architecte travaillant à la restauration du Fort Manuel situé sur l'île Manuel proche de La Valette. On peut observer sur ce timbre une partie des remparts du Fort ainsi que la chapelle Saint-Antoine de Padoue.
The challenge was really not easy because the Maltese archipelago is characterized by a quasi general absence of forest !
The € 0.37 stamp features the small Buskett Forest, located in the town of Rabat, dominated by the Verdala Palace, an official residence of the President of the Republic.
Unfortunately I don't know where is located the chapel depicted on the other stamp ?
Silvan has used a third stamp part of a nice set of three stamps, issued on March 9, 2011, entitled "Treasures of Malta - Landscapes".
This stamp, the only one in this series, is bearing the Sepac logo, the acronym of the association of 13 small European postal administrations, issuing every two years (since 2007) stamps devoted to a common theme (landscapes).
This stamp was designed by Edward Said, the architect working on the restoration of the Fort Manuel on the Manuel island located close to Valletta. You can observe on this stamp a part of the ramparts of the Fort and also the Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua.
Il y a quelques mois, j'ai reçu en cadeau de la poste maltaise l'intéressant FDC ci-dessus concernant une série de 5 timbres, émis le 29 septembre 2006, consacrée à des tours et châteaux du pays.
Et parmi ces châteaux, on peut voir à nouveau le palais Verdala (timbre à 16c) qui figurait sur le timbre EUROPA à 0,37€ évoqué plus haut !
Ce palais a été construit en 1586 par l'architecte maltais Gerolamo Cassar pour le Grand Maître Verdalle (1582-1595).
A few months ago, I'd received, as a gift from the Maltese Post, the interesting FDC above about a set of five stamps, issued on September 29, 2006 devoted to towers and castles of the country.
Among these castles, you can be see again the Verdala Palace (16c stamp) that appeared on the EUROPA stamp (€ 0.37) mentioned above !
This palace was built in 1586 by the Maltese architect Gerolamo Cassar for Grand Master Verdalle (1582-1595).

En 2007 et 2009, certains pays membres de l'association postale Sepac ("Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation") regroupant 13 petites administrations postales européennes, ont émis des timbres sur le thème commun des paysages.
La poste de Gibraltar a émis son timbre Sepac, le 16 septembre 2009, faisant partie d'une série de 4 timbres consacrée à des vues anciennes du territoire britannique.
Ce timbre figure sur la lettre ci-dessous posté le 13 septembre 2010, avec une oblitération très nette (mais pourquoi comporte-t-elle deux fois le terme "Gibraltar" ?).

In 2007 and 2009, some members of the postal association Sepac ("Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation") grouping 13 small European postal administrations, have issued stamps devoted to a common theme of "Scenery".
The Post of Gibraltar has issued its Sepac stamp, on September 16, 2009, being part of a set of four stamps featuring old views of the British territory.
This stamp is included on the letter below posted on September 13, 2010, with a very clear cancellation (but why the word "Gibraltar" is included two times ?).

Ce timbre reproduit une vue du célèbre rocher de Gibraltar faisant partie d'une collection de cartes postales historiques appartenant à Gil Podesta, membre de la fondation pour la patrimoine de Gibraltar.
Le logo officiel de l'association Sepac figure en haut à droite sur ce timbre.
Le thème retenu pour la prochaine émission commune en 2011 sera à nouveau les paysages (quelle originalité !). Parmi les 13 pays membres, seul Saint-Marin n'a curieusement toujours pas participé à ces émissions communes...
This stamp is reproducing a view of the famous Rock of Gibraltar being part of a collection of historical postcards belonging to Gil Podesta, a member of the Gibraltar Heritage Trust.
The Sepac official logo is included at the top right on this stamp.
The Sepac theme for the upcoming joint issue in 2011 will again be "Scenery" (not very original !). Among the 13 member countries, only San Marino has curiously never issued any Sepac joint stamp...

En 2007, les administrations postales membres de l'association Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) ont débuté un cycle d'émission de timbres sur un thème commun, à savoir des paysages caractéristiques de chacun des pays ou territoires. Une 2ème émission commune a eu lieu en 2009 et ce cycle se terminera en 2011.
Il y a actuellement 13 membres mais le Luxembourg n'a pas participé en 2007 et Saint-Marin ni en 2007, ni en 2009...
Après les gorges Selfoss sur la rivière Jökulsá en 2007, la poste islandaise a choisi cette année un autre site naturel splendide, le parc de Skaftafell.
In 2007, the postal administrations, members of the Sepac (Small European Postal Administration Cooperation) organization began a series of stamps on a common theme, namely characteristic scenery of each country or territory. A 2nd joint issue was held in 2009 and this cycle will end in 2011.
There are currently 13 Sepac members, but Luxembourg has not participated in 2007 and San Marino neither in 2007 nor in 2009...
After the waterfall Selfoss on the river Jökulsá in 2007, the Icelandic Post has chosen this year another splendid natural site, the Skaftafell Park.

Depuis le 7 juin 2008, ce parc, créé en 1967, a fusionné avec le parc de Jökulsárgljúfur pour former le parc national du Vatnajökull, situé dans le sud-est du pays et couvrant une superficie de 12000 km², soit 11% de la surface de l'Islande !
Ce parc, tirant son nom du plus grand glacier d'Europe, signifiant "glacier des eaux", est aussi le plus grand parc d'Europe.
Ce site naturel est connu pour la beauté de sa nature et les contrastes spectaculaires de ses paysages, volcans, chutes d'eau et lacs glaciaires (comme sur le splendide timbre ci-dessus).
Le Hvannadalshnúkur ("pic de la vallée des angéliques"), plus haut sommet d'Islande (2110 mètres), est situé dans ce parc de Skaftafell.

Since June 7, 2008, this Park, created in 1967, merged with the Park of Jökulsárgljúfur to form the Vatnajökull National Park, located in south-east Iceland, covering an area of 12.000 square kilometers, or 11% of the surface of the country !
This Park is named after the largest glacier in Europe, meaning "glacier of lakes", is also the largest Park in Europe.
This natural site is known for its natural beauty and spectacular contrasts of its landscapes, volcanoes, waterfalls and glacial lakes (such as the one on the splendid stamp above).
The Hvannadalshnúkur ("peak of the valley of angels"), the highest mountain of Iceland (2110 meters) is located in the Skaftafell Park.
