"2018 North Korea–United States Summit" m/s on FDC from Singapore

Bloc-feuillet "Sommet Corée du Nord-USA 2018" sur FDC de Singapour

Le 12 juin 2018, un sommet historique entre la Corée du Nord et les États-Unis d'Amérique à eu lieu à Singapour, en présence du président américain, Donald Trump, et du dirigeant suprême de la République populaire démocratique de Corée (RPDC, DPRK en anglais), Kim Jong-un.
À l'occasion de ce sommet, les deux dirigeants ont signé une déclaration conjointe stipulant en particulier que les 2 pays s'engagent à établir de nouvelles relations respectives ou qu'ils souhaitent établir un régime de paix durable et stable dans la péninsule coréenne et à travailler à la dénucléarisation complète de cette région...
Rien de véritablement contraignant pour les 2 pays mais cette rencontre a surtout marqué une étape de détente entre les relations USA-Corée du Nord et ce sommet a été au cœur de l'actualité mondiale et chacun des 2 dirigeants y a vu son propre intérêt.
On June 12, 2018, a historic summit between North Korea and the United States of America was held in Singapore, in the presence of US President Donald Trump and the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong-un.
On the occasion of this summit, the two leaders signed a joint declaration stating in particular that the two countries pledge to establish new relations or that they wish to establish a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean peninsula or to work towards the complete denuclearization of this region ...
Nothing really binding for the 2 countries but this meeting especially marked a stage of warming of the USA-North Korea relations and this summit was at the heart of the world actuality and each of the 2 leaders saw there own interest.

Ce sommet a également permis à Singapour de rappeler sa réputation d'accueillir des événements diplomatiques de haute sécurité.
Le 20 juillet 2018, la poste de Singapour, en collaboration avec le quotidien "The Straits Times", a mis en circulation un bloc-feuillet (timbre à 10$) consacré à ce sommet historique USA-Corée du Nord.
Conçu par Wong Wui Kong, ce bloc-feuillet figure sur le pli Premier Jour spécial ci-dessus, envoyé en recommandé depuis le bureau de poste "Harbour Front Centre". Merci beaucoup Terence !
La poignée de main entre les 2 dirigeants est représentée sur le timbre, avec des sites emblématiques de Singapour dans le fond (grande roue "Singapore Flyer", complexe hôtelier "Marina Bay Sands"...).
La marge à droite illustre cette rencontre historique, d'après une photographie du journaliste du "The Straits Times" Kevin Lim, qui a fait le tour du monde...
This summit also allowed Singapore to recall its reputation for hosting high-security diplomatic events.
On July 20, 2018, Singapore Post, in collaboration with the daily newspaper "The Straits Times", put into circulation a souvenir sheet ($ 10.00 stamp) dedicated to this historic US-North Korea summit.
Designed by Wong Wui Kong, this souvenir sheet was used on the special First Day cover above, sent by registered mail from the "Harbour Front Centre" post office. Thank you very much Terence!
The handshake between the two leaders is featured on the stamp, with emblematic places of Singapore in the background (Ferris wheel "Singapore Flyer", resort "Marina Bay Sands" ...).
The margin on the right illustrates this historic meeting, according to a photograph by the "The Straits Times" photojournalist Kevin Lim, who has toured the world ...

Ce bureau de poste "Harbour Front Centre" est situé dans le sud de l'île principale de Singapour, non loin de l'île de Sentosa où avait lieu ce sommet, dans le complexe de luxe "Capella Resort" plus précisément.
Terence a eu l'excellente idée d'utiliser une enveloppe de ce complexe (cf mention sur l'autre côté ci-dessus) pour confectionner ce pli Premier Jour historique !
This "Harbour Front Centre" post office is located in the south of the main island of Singapore, not far from the island of Sentosa where this summit took place, in the luxury "Capella Resort" more precisely.
Terence had the excellent idea to use an envelope from this resort (see the mention on the other side above) to make this historic First Day cover! 
 

"125 years of Vanda Miss Joaquim, the national flower" stamp set on FDC from Singapore

La Singapore Post a mis en circulation le 22 juin 2018, une nouvelle série de timbres célébrant le 125ème anniversaire de la création de la fleur nationale de Singapour, l'orchidée Vanda Miss Joaquim.
Cette série, conçue par la très jeune artiste Adeline Tan alias Mightyellow, est composée d'un bloc-feuillet (5$) et de 4 timbres illustrant la création de cette orchidée hybride à partir de 2 plantes mères (Papilionanthe teres et Papilionanthe hookeriana), sur le timbre "1st Local", ainsi que différentes étapes de floraison (70 et 90 cents) et la fleur complètement éclose (1,30$).
Cette série, incluant des parties imprimées avec une encre rose métallique (rappelant les tons de cette fleur), figure sur le splendide pli Premier Jour officiel ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Terence !
A noter en haut à gauche, ce cachet oval, différent des autres oblitérations Premier Jour appliquées sur cette enveloppe.
The Singapore Post put into circulation on June 22, 2018, a new series of stamps celebrating the 125th anniversary of the creation of Singapore's national flower, the Orchid Vanda Miss Joaquim.
This series, designed by the very young artist Adeline Tan alias Mightyellow, consists of a souvenir sheet ($ 5.00) and 4 stamps illustrating the creation of this hybrid orchid from its two parent plants (Papilionanthe teres and Papilionanthe hookeriana), on the "1st Local" stamp, as well as different flowering stages (70 and 90 cents) and the fully hatched flower ($ 1.30).
This series, including parts printed with a metallic pink ink (reminding the tones of this flower), is present on the splendid official First Day cover below. Thank you very much Terence!

Cette orchidée doit son nom à sa créatrice, Miss Agnes Joaquim, horticultrice arménienne de seconde génération née à Singapour en 1854 et qui fut la première femme au monde à mettre au point une orchidée hybride, reconnue en 1893 par le directeur du jardin botanique de Singapour.
Le 15 avril 1981, la Vanda Miss Joaquim a été sélectionnée comme fleur nationale de Singapour, parmi 40 fleurs, dont 30 étaient des orchidées. Cette fleur a été choisie en particulier pour ses couleurs vibrantes, sa rusticité et sa résilience - des qualités qui reflètent l'esprit de Singapour mais aussi son patrimoine multiculturel.
Singapour est ainsi le seul pays au monde à avoir pour fleur nationale une espèce hybride.
L'arrière petite nièce d'Agnes Joaquim, Linda Locke, était présente le premier jour d'émission de cette série, pour animer en particulier des séances de lecture de son livre pour enfants publié récemment "Agnes and Her Amazing Orchid: How Vanda Miss Joaquim Became Singapore's National Flower".

This orchid was named for its creator, Miss Agnes Joaquim, a second-generation Singapore-born (in 1854) Armenian horticulturalist who was the first woman in the world to breed an orchid hybrid, recognized in 1893 by the director of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
On April 15, 1981, the Vanda Miss Joaquim was selected as Singapore's national flower, among 40 flowers, out of which 30 were orchids. This flower was chosen in particular for its vibrant colours, hardiness and resilience - qualities that reflect the Singapore spirit but also its multicultural heritage.
Singapore is the only country in the world to have a hybrid species as national flower.
Agnes Joaquim's great-grand-niece, Linda Locke, was present on the first day of issue of this series, in particular to conduct reading sessions of her recently published children's book "Agnes and Her Amazing Orchid: How Vanda Miss Joaquim Became Singapore's National Flower".

Singapore-Russia joint stamp issue: modern architecture

Émission commune Singapour-Russie : architecture moderne

Le 1er juin 1968, Singapour et l'URSS établissaient officiellement des relations diplomatiques, une ambassade de Singapour à Moscou étant ouverte en 1971, une ambassade de Russie à Singapour étant inaugurée en 1994.
Tous les deux Membres de l'APEC, Singapour et la Russie entretiennent aujourd'hui de très bonnes relations économiques et commerciales mais également en terme de coopération technologique et scientifique.
Afin de célébrer le 50ème anniversaire de ces relations diplomatiques, les 2 pays ont mis en circulation, le 1er juin 2018 pour la SingPost et le 25 juin 2018 pour RusMarka, une série commune (2 timbres) consacrée à l'architecture moderne.
La SingPost a émis cette série (2 x 1,30$) également sous forme d'un bloc-feuillet, présent sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Terence !
On June 1, 1968, Singapore and the USSR formally established diplomatic relations, with a Singapore Embassy in Moscow opened in 1971, and a Russian Embassy in Singapore inaugurated in 1994.
Both APEC Members, Singapore and Russia enjoy very good economic and trade relations today, but also in terms of technological and scientific cooperation.
In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of these diplomatic relations, the 2 countries put into circulation, on June 1, 2018 for the SingPost and on June 25, 2018 for RusMarka, a joint series (2 stamps) devoted to modern architecture.
The SingPost issued this series (2 x $ 1.30) also in the form of a souvenir sheet, present on the official FDC below. Thank you very much Terence!

Ces 2 timbres, conçus respectivement par Ivory Seah pour la SingPost et par V. Beltyukov pour RusMarka, représentent 2 exemples d'architecture moderne en verre, "Gardens by the Bay" à Singapour et le dôme de verre de l'amphithéâtre du parc Zaryadye à Moscou.
Proche du complexe "Marina Bay Sand", "Gardens by the Bay", inauguré en 2012, est constitué d'un grand espace vert divisé en trois parties : deux jardins extérieurs et un jardin sous serre (surface totale de 101 hectares). Cette serre, conçue par une équipe d'architectes anglais, qui abrite des espèces végétales des régions méditerranéennes et tropicales, figure sur le timbre ci-dessus à gauche.
L'autre timbre est consacré à cet impressionnant dôme de verre protégeant l'amphithéâtre du parc Zaryadye, inauguré en septembre 2017 au cœur de Moscou.
Imaginé sur les lieux où se dressait autrefois l'hôtel soviétique Rossia, ce parc de 13 hectares est consacré à la flore du pays et reproduit les quatre zones climatiques que l'on peut observer en voyageant en Russie : la steppe, la toundra, les zones humides et la forêt. Parmi les autres attractions de ce parc, cet incroyable "pont flottant", une structure en forme de "V" surplombant la rivière Moskova, à l'honneur sur le timbre EUROPA 2018 russe.
These 2 stamps, designed respectively by Ivory Seah for the SingPost and V. Beltyukov for RusMarka, are featuring two examples of modern glass architecture, "Gardens by the Bay" in Singapore and the glass dome of the Zaryadye Park's Amphitheater in Moscow.

Located near the "Marina Bay Sand" complex, "Gardens by the Bay" consists of a large green area divided into three parts : two outdoor gardens and a garden inside a glass house (total area of 101 hectares). This glass house, designed by a team of British architects, home to plant species from Mediterranean and tropical regions, is depicted on the stamp above to the left.

The other stamp is dedicated to this impressive glass dome protecting the amphitheater of Zaryadye Park, inaugurated in September 2017 in the heart of Moscow.

Imagined on the site where once stood the Soviet Hotel Rossia, this 13-hectare park is devoted to the country's vast flora and reproduces the four climatic zones that can be observed while traveling in Russia: steppe, tundra, wetlands and forest. Among the attractions of this park, this incredible "floating bridge", a structure in the form of the letter "V" overlooking the river Moskova, in the spotlight on the Russian EUROPA 2018 stamp.

Après la version de Singapour, je suis heureux de publier cette lettre affranchie avec la version indonésienne de cette émission commune entre ces 2 pays, mise en circulation le 7 septembre 2017.
Merci beaucoup Muhammad pour cette lettre envoyée le 13 novembre 2017 de la ville de Pontianak, capitale de la province indonésienne de Kalimantan occidental, sur l'île de Bornéo !
A noter la présence du TAD Premier Jour (étoile de mer) de Bandung.
Pour rappel, cette série commune (la 2ème entre les 2 pays après 2009) consacrée à des récifs coralliens, marquait le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre Singapour et l'Indonésie.

Comme la poste de Singapour, le poste indonésienne a également émis ces 2 timbres dans un bloc-feuillet (avec des valeurs faciales de 10000 Rp).
These 2 se-tenant stamps (Rp 5,000 each) are featuring different (unidentified) species of fish having these coral reefs for habitat, typical of both countries.
Through this series, the two countries wished to recall the importance of these reefs for animal and plant species as well as their role in the economy (tourism) and their essential function in the absorption of wave energy and reduction of coastal erosion.
As the Singapore Post did, the Indonesian Post also issued these two stamps in a souvenir sheet (with nominal values of Rp 10,000).

Greetings by the Merlion on FDC from Singapore

Le Merlion dans tous ses états sur FDC de Singapour

Le Merlion, cette créature à tête de lion et corps de poisson, est aujourd'hui le symbole de Singapour, présent de profil (la tête) sur les timbres locaux, au même titre que le monarque sur les timbres britanniques.
Imaginé en 1964 par l'office de tourisme, le Merlion est inspiré de la légende du prince Sang Nila Utama, à l'origine de la création du Royaume de Singapura (signifiant "Ville du lion" en sanskrit) en 1299.
Le 15 novembre 2017, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une série haute en couleur composée de 10 timbres (conception : Andy Koh) mettant en scène ce Merlion délivrant différents messages.
The Merlion, a lion-headed and fish-body creature, is today the symbol of Singapore, present in profile (the head) on local stamps, as well as the monarch on British stamps.
Conceived in 1964 by the tourist office, the Merlion is inspired by the legend of Prince Sang Nila Utama, at the origin of the creation of the Kingdom of Singapura (meaning "Lion City" in Sanskrit) in 1299.
On November 15, 2017, the Singapore Post issued a high-color series of 10 stamps (design: Andy Koh) featuring this Merlion delivering different Greetings' messages.

"New General Post Office's inauguration" stamp set on amazing FDC from Singapore

Le 9 octobre 2017, journée mondiale de la poste, la SingPost a officiellement inauguré son nouveau "General Post Office - GPO" ("Bureau de poste principal") situé dans le SingPost Centre Mall.
Symbole du futur du bureau de poste, ce GPO nouvelle génération est le 1er "Smart Post Office" créé par la SingPost, dans lequel les points de vente traditionnels sont complétés par un réseau numérique offrant un accès à tout moment et partout aux services postaux et autres services essentiels !
Ce 9 octobre 2017, une nouvelle série de 4 timbres a été mise en circulation à l'occasion de l'ouverture de ce nouveau GPO.
Un énorme merci Terence pour ce FDC incroyable concernant cette série complète, avec signature (en bas à droite) du créateur de cette série, Wong Wui Kong, qui était présent ce 9 octobre 2017 dans le Philatelic Store (timbre à 1,30$), l'espace dédié à la philatélie dans ce GPO !
On October 9, 2017, the World Post Day, SingPost officially opened its new "General Post Office - GPO" located in the SingPost Center Mall.
Symbol of the future of the post office, this new generation GPO is the first "Smart Post Office" created by SingPost, in which traditional brick-and-mortar outlets are augmented by a digital network that offers anytime and anywhere access to postal and other essential services!
This October 9, 2017, a new series of 4 stamps was released on the occasion of the opening of this new GPO.
A huge thank you Terence for this incredible FDC regarding this complete stamp set, with the signature (bottom right) of the designer of this series, Wong Wui Kong, who was present this October 9, 2017 in the Philatelic Store ($ 1.30 stamp), the space dedicated to philately in this GPO!

L'architecture de ce nouveau GPO, mêlant modernité et patrimoine, est largement inspiré du GPO historique de Singapour (Fullerton Building), ce que rappelle cette jolie série (avec mention "Singapore" imprimée avec une encre dorée) incluant des vues de ce nouveau GPO ainsi que des photographies anciennes concernant différents services postaux.
A noter qu'un nouveau timbre de distributeur a été également émis à cette occasion, un exemplaire (valeur 5c) figurant en bas à gauche sur cette enveloppe (timbre imprimé par la machine automatique SAM (Self-Service Automated Machine) n° 22).
En complément du TAD Premier Jour (le 2ème en partant de la droite), à noter ce cachet rond standard du GPO à droite ainsi que ce cachet rectangulaire (colombe avec une lettre) émis spécialement pour cette inauguration.
Enfin, le cachet spécial rouge à gauche était appliqué sur tous les courriers déposés dans une boîte aux lettres historique rouge (datant de l'ère coloniale), comme celle représentée à gauche sur cette enveloppe, installée dans le Philatelic Store.
The architecture of this new GPO, combining modernity and heritage, is largely inspired by the historical GPO of Singapore (Fullerton Building), what reminds this beautiful stamp series (with mention "Singapore" printed with a gold ink) including views of this new GPO as well as old photographs concerning different postal services.
To note that a new ATM stamp was also issued on this occasion, one (value 5c) being present at the bottom left on this envelope (stamp printed by the automatic machine SAM (Self-Service Automated Machine) No. 22).
In addition to the FDC cancellation (the 2nd from the right), to note also the round standard GPO postmark to the right as well as this rectangular cachet (dove with a letter) issued especially for this inauguration.
Finally, the special red cachet to the left was applied to all the mail placed in a red historic pillar mailbox (dating from the colonial era), such as the one shown on the left on this envelope, installed in the Philatelic Store.

A l'occasion d'une visite du président indonésien Joko Widodo à Singapour le 7 septembre 2017, une série commune (2 timbres) entre les 2 pays a été officiellement dévoilée, en présence du premier ministre Lee Hsien Loong, marquant le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques.
Cette série commune, la 2ème entre les 2 pays après celle de 2009 (attractions touristiques), est consacrée à des récifs coralliens, symbolisant "les innombrables interdépendances au sein de ces écosystèmes fragiles qui reflètent les nombreuses façons dont Singapour et l'Indonésie travaillent ensemble" d'après la SingPost...

"150th Anniversary of First Postage Stamp" set - mixed FDC from Singapore and Malaysia

Le 1er septembre 2017, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une série (5 timbres) consacrée à l'histoire postale du pays, en particulier le 150ème anniversaire des 1ers timbres émis sur ce territoire.
Singapour, comme les territoires de Malacca, Dinding et Penang (situés sur la péninsule malaise), faisait alors partie des "Straits Settlements" ("Établissements des Détroits"), administrés par la compagnie britannique des Indes orientales à partir de 1826.
Ces "Straits Settlements" passent ensuite sous contrôle britannique direct en tant que colonie de la Couronne à partir du 1er avril 1867, avec en particulier l'introduction d'une nouvelle monnaie (le dollar divisé en cents) remplaçant la roupie indienne (1 roupie = 16 annas).
On September 1, 2017, the Singapore Post put into circulation an attractive series (5 stamps) dedicated to the country's postal history, in particular the 150th anniversary of the first stamps issued in that territory.
Singapore, such as the territories of Malacca, Dinding and Penang (situated on the Malay Peninsula), was then part of the "Straits Settlements", administered by the British East India Company from 1826.
These Straits Settlements then came under direct British control as a Crown colony as of April 1, 1867, in particular with the introduction of a new currency (the dollar divided into cents) replacing the Indian rupee (1 rupee = 16 annas).

Les timbres indiens libellés en annas (portrait de la reine Victoria avec mention "East India Postage"), utilisés à Singapour depuis 1854, sont ainsi surchargés à partir du 1er septembre 1867, avec l'ajout d'une couronne et d'une valeur nominale en cents (9 valeurs au total, de 2 cents à 32 cents).
C'est cette série qui constitue ces 1ers timbres émis à Singapour il y a 150 ans, dont certains exemplaires (timbres ou lettres rares ayant réellement circulé) sont à l'honneur sur les 5 timbres de cette série.

A noter les différents TAD appliqués sur cette lettre (de gauche à droite) : TAD Premier Jour (évoquant une des oblitérations octogonales de l'époque), TAD spécial du musée philatélique de Singapour (une exposition consacrée à ce 150ème anniversaire y est organisée jusqu'au 1er janvier 2018) et TAD classique avec mention "General Post Office" (GPO).

The Indian stamps denominated in annas (portrait of Queen Victoria with the mention "East India Postage"), used in Singapore since 1854, were thus overprinted from September 1, 1867, with the addition of a crown and a nominal value in cents (9 values ​​in total, from 2 cents to 32 cents).
It is this series which constitutes the first stamps issued in Singapore 150 years ago, some of which (stamps or rare letters having really circulated) are in the spotlight on the 5 stamps of this series.

Officiellement également le 1er septembre 2017, la poste malaise a mis en circulation une série de 3 timbres sur le même thème reproduisant ces 9 premiers timbres émis le 1er septembre 1867.
Mais il semble que cette série n'ait en fait été émise que le 5 septembre 2017, ce qui a laissé du temps à Terence pour ce rendre en Malaisie voisine et appliquer au verso de cette enveloppe ci-dessus, les 3 timbres et le TAD Premier Jour associé de Kuala Lumpur !
Ces 2 séries de Singapour et Malaisie ne sont pas considérées officiellement comme une émission commune même si cela y ressemble beaucoup !
Officially also on September 1, 2017, the Malaysian Post put into circulation a series of 3 stamps devoted to the same topic, reproducing these first 9 stamps issued on September 1, 1867.
But it seems that this series was actually issued only on September 5, 2017, allowing Terence to travel to neighboring Malaysia and apply on the back of this envelope above, the 3 stamps and the associated FDC cancellations from Kuala Lumpur!
These 2 series of Singapore and Malaysia are not officially considered as a joint issue even if it is looking like!

Dans le cadre des festivités de la Fête Nationale, célébrée chaque année le 4 août, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation, le 4 août 2017, une intéressante série (6 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) consacrée à différentes activités matinales familières effectuées chaque jour par les habitants de l'île-état.
C'est ce bloc-feuillet (conception : Brett Antonio et Christian Hernandez de l'agence DNA Life Pte Ltd), composé d'un timbre à 2$, qui figure sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Terence !
J'aime bien le TAD Premier Jour avec l'intitulé de cette série, "Morning in Singapore", ces 4 mains entrelacées (avec une forme centrale évoquant les contours géographiques du pays) et la mention NDP 2017 ("National Day Parade") faisant référence au défilé organisé chaque année pour cette Fête Nationale.
As part of the celebration of the National Day, taking place every year on August 4th, the Singapore Post has put into circulation, on August 4, 2017, an interesting series (6 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) devoted to various familiar morning activities by the inhabitants of the island-state.
It is this souvenir sheet (design: Brett Antonio and Christian Hernandez from the agency DNA Life Pte Ltd), consisting of a $ 2.00 stamp, which is present on the pretty official FDC below. Thank you very much Terence!
I like the First Day cancellation with the title of this series, "Morning in Singapore", these four interlaced hands (with a central shape evoking the geographical contours of the country) and the mention NDP 2017 (National Day Parade) referring to the parade organized each year for this National Day.

Je suppose que le cachet à gauche, en forme de réveil, avec mention du bureau postal de Tiong Bahru, était proposé au public entre le 4 et le 10 août 2017 ?
L'autre cachet ci-dessus, en forme de gâteau d'anniversaire (52 ans d'indépendance), est daté du 9 août 2017 (je suppose également qu'un cachet différent a été mis en circulation les 6 autres jours ?).
Ce bloc-feuillet illustre différentes scènes matinales comme des enfants arrivant à l'école, des gens qui prennent le bus, d'autres qui prennent leur petit-déjeuner dans un "hawker centre" typique, qui font du vélo sur le réseau PCN (park connector network), qui font des activités sportives ou des courses dans un "wet market", un marché de produits frais.
I suppose that the cachet on the left, looking like an alarm clock, with mention of the postal office of Tiong Bahru, was offered to the public from 4 to 10 August 2017?
The other cachet above, featuring a birthday cake (52 years of country's independence), is dated August 9, 2017 (I also assume that a different cachet was put into circulation the other 6 days?).
This souvenir sheet depicts different morning scenes such as children arriving at school, people catching the bus to work, breakfast at a hawker centre, cycling on the park connector network (PCN), exercising at a fitness corner and grocery shopping at a wet market.

Le même TAD Premier Jour est présent sur l'autre côté de cette enveloppe ci-dessus ainsi que 2 TADs classiques du 4 août 2017 (bureau postal de Punggol) et du 9 août 2017 (bureau postal d'Orchard).
A noter enfin que ce bloc-feuillet est original puisque la mention "SINGAPORE", en bas du timbre, est conçue à partir de lettres découpées dans le papier !

Finally, to note that this souvenir sheet is rather original since "SINGAPORE", at the bottom of the stamp, is die cut from the paper!

Le 8 août 1967 à Bangkok, 5 pays (Indonésie, Malaisie, Philippines, Singapour, Thaïlande) fondaient l'Association des Nations de l'Asie du Sud-Est (ASEAN), une organisation politique, économique et culturelle ayant pour objectif de faire barrage aux mouvements communistes, de développer la croissance et le développement et d'assurer la stabilité dans la région, dans un contexte de guerre froide.
L'ASEAN est aujourd'hui composée de 10 pays membres après les adhésions de Brunei Darussalam en 1984, du Vietnam en 1995, du Laos en 1997, du Myanmar en 1997 et du Cambodge en 1999.
En 2015, ces 10 pays avaient mis en circulation une série commune (même motif) consacrée à la création de la Communauté économique de l'ASEAN, constituant alors un ensemble de 625 millions d'habitants (9% de la population mondiale) et la 7ème puissance économique mondiale.

Afin de célébrer le 50ème anniversaire de la création de l'ASEAN, une nouvelle série commune a été mise en circulation le 8 août 2017, ayant pour thème les fleurs nationales de chaque pays.
La version de Singapour (en 2 exemplaires), consacrée à l'orchidée Vanda Miss Joaquim (Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, une fleur hybride créée en 1893), fleur nationale depuis 1981, figure sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessus, avec TAD représentant le logo de l'ASEAN Post, également présent sur le timbre. J'aime beaucoup ce timbre très élégant conçu par la jeune graphiste Ivory Seah qui a signé cette enveloppe le 1er jour d'émission.
Je ne sais pas exactement à quoi fait référence cette "ASEAN Post", une sorte de PostEurop des nations de l'ASEAN ?

In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of ASEAN, a new joint series was released on August 8, 2017, focusing on the national flowers of each country.
The Singapore version (in two copies), devoted to the Vanda 'Miss Joaquim' orchid (Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, an hybrid flower created in 1893), national flower since 1981, appears on the pretty official FDC above, with a cancellation representing the ASEAN Post's emblem, also present on the stamp. I really like this very elegant stamp designed by the young graphic designer Ivory Seah who signed this envelope on the first day of issue.
I do not know exactly what this "ASEAN Post" is, maybe a kind of PostEurop organization of the ASEAN nations?
To note also on this envelope the special postmark on the left evoking also the 50 years of ASEAN, with these two open hands (evoking a bird flying, in reference to the one present on this ASEAN Post's logo?).

Sauf erreur de ma part, seulement 8 des 10 pays de l'ASEAN ont émis le même type de timbre, Brunei Darussalam et le Myanmar ne participant pas a priori...
Ce timbre de Singapour, imprimé en Thaïlande en feuille de 10 timbres, comporte la valeur domestique "1st Local" (0,30$ actuellement) pour un envoi jusqu'à 20g, d'où cette vignette de complément (0,70$) afin d'atteindre le tarif (1,30$) pour un envoi jusqu'à 20g vers les pays de la Zone 3 (dont la France fait partie). 
La SingPost a mis en circulation plusieurs documents philatéliques (en particulier un bloc incluant ce même timbre avec une valeur faciale de 5$) concernant cette émission, certains ayant été retirés de la vente après qu'une erreur ait été détectée (le Cambodge a été omis dans la liste des 5 pays ayant rejoint l'ASEAN après 1967, ce qui est le cas au verso de ce FDC ci-dessus) !
Unless I am mistaken, only 8 of the 10 ASEAN countries have issued the same type of stamp, Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar not participating it seems...
That stamp from Singapore, printed in Thailand in a sheet of 10 stamps, has a domestic "1st Local" nominal value (currently $ 0.30) for a shipment up to 20g, hence this additional label ($ 0.70) to reach the current rate ($ 1.30) for a shipment up to 20g to the countries of the Zone 3 (including France).
The SingPost has released several philatelic items (in particular a collector's sheet including this same stamp with a value of $ 5.00) regarding this issue, some of which having been withdrawn from circulation after an error was detected (Cambodia was omitted from the list of the 5 countries that joined ASEAN after 1967, which is the case on the back of this FDC above) !

Le 12 juillet 2017, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une série de timbres au style plutôt inhabituel pour cette ville-état, consacrée à différents bijoux (des colliers précisément) créés spécifiquement pour les cérémonies de mariage.
Conçue par Jonathan Castillo Reyes (atelier de graphisme DNA Life Pte Ltd), cette série de 4 timbres (90c chacun) a été imprimée par Cartor Security Printing avec un vernis spécial iridescent.
A noter que ces 4 timbres (avec valeur faciale de 10$) ont également été imprimés dans un bloc-feuillet (tirage : 1888), vendu à 68$ et 88$ (version numérotée), incluant en particulier des parties en relief et dorées (or 22 carats).
On July 12, 2017, the Singapore Post issued a series of stamps in a rather unusual style for this city-state, devoted to different pieces of jewelry (necklaces precisely) created specifically for wedding ceremonies.
Designed by Jonathan Castillo Reyes ("DNA Life Pte Ltd" graphic studio), this series of 4 stamps (90c each) has been printed by Cartor Security Printing with a special iridescent varnish.
To note that these 4 stamps (with a nominal value of $ 10) were also printed in a souvenir sheet (print run: 1,888), sold at $ 68 and $ 88 (numbered version), including in particular embossing and golden parts (genuine 22 carat).

Le timbre en haut à droite montre un collier composé de motifs floraux (style proche de l'Art Nouveau) typique de la communauté Peranakan (descendants des premiers immigrants chinois).
Ce bijou fait partie d'une collection personnelle alors que le dernier collier de cette série (style indien) appelé "mangalsutra" avec son pendentif en forme de cloche, a été créé par la bijouterie Ishtara.

The preview sale of this series also took place in the Poh Heng jewelry store, which designed 2 of the 4 gold necklaces featured in this series: "Heavenly Match" with a dragon and phoenix motif prized by the Chinese community and "My Fair Lady", a Eurasian style necklace in yellow gold and diamonds.
The stamp on the top right shows a necklace made of floral motifs (close to Art Nouveau style) typical of the Peranakan community (descendants of the first Chinese immigrants).
This jewel is part of a personal collection while the last necklace of this series (Indian style) called "mangalsutra" with its bell-shaped pendant, was created by Ishtara jewelry.

"Kingfishers" stamp set on FDC from Singapore

Série "Martins-pêcheurs" sur FDC de Singapour

Le 26 avril 2017, la SingPost a mis en circulation une très jolie série de 4 timbres (de grandes tailles : presque carrés, 45 mm de côté !) consacrée à 4 des 8 espèces de martins-pêcheurs recensées à Singapour.
Ces oiseaux, de petite ou moyenne taille, sont caractérisées par des plumages très colorés et des becs de grande taille (par rapport à la taille du corps), et vivent à proximité de milieux aquatiques, se nourrissant de poissons la plupart du temps.

Ces 4 timbres ont la particularité d'inclure des éléments (imprimés avec un vernis UV spécial) représentant d'autres espèces animales vivant dans le même milieu que ces oiseaux : serpent, libellule, lézard et loutre.
On April 26, 2017, the SingPost put into circulation a very nice series of 4 stamps (large sizes : almost 45 mm square in shape !) devoted to 4 of the 8 species of kingfishers recorded in Singapore.
These birds are small to medium sized and have very colored plumages and large beaks (relative to their body size), and live close to water environments, feeding on fish most of the time.

These 4 stamps have the particularity to include elements (printed with a special UV varnish) representing other animal species living in the same environment as these birds : snake, dragonfly, lizard and otter.

Ces 4 timbres, conçus par Leo Teck Chong, représentent les espèces suivantes (de gauche à droite) : Martin-chasseur à coiffe noire (Halcyon pileata), Martin-pêcheur méninting (Alcedo meninting), d'apparence très semblable à notre martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Martin-pêcheur pourpré (Ceyx erithaca), la plus petite espèce de cette famille vivant à Singapour, et Martin-chasseur à gorge blanche (Halcyon smyrnensis), l'espèce la plus commune à Singapour (déjà timbrifié en 1962).
A noter qu'une autre espèce, le martin-chasseur à collier blanc (Todirhamphus chloris), faisait partie de la série de timbres "faune des étangs" émise le 13 avril 2011.
These four stamps, designed by Leo Teck Chong, represent the following kingfisher species (from left to right) : Black-capped kingfisher (Halcyon pileata), Blue-eared kingfisher (Alcedo meninting), very similar to our Common kingfisher in Europe, Black-backed kingfisher (Ceyx erithaca), the smallest species of this family living in Singapore, and White-throated kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis), the most common species in Singapore (already featured on a stamp in 1962).
It should be noted that another species, the White-collared Kingfisher (Todirhamphus chloris), was part of the stamp series "Pond life" issued on April 13, 2011. 
 

New "Singapore Skyline" ATM stamps on FDC from Singapore

Le 20 mars 2017, la SingPost a mis en circulation une nouvelle version de timbres de distributeur intitulée "Singapore Skyline".
Cette série remplace la version précédente ("SG50 - Célébrant le jubilé d'or de la nation"), émise le 14 août 2015, dont j'avais parlé sur ce blog.
4 de ces nouveaux timbres de distributeurs ont été utilisés sur cette lettre spéciale ci-dessous envoyée le 1er jour d'émission depuis le bureau de poste de Shenton Way (sud de l'île principale). Merci beaucoup Terence !
On March 20, 2017, the SingPost has released a new version of ATM stamps entitled "Singapore Skyline".
This series replaces the previous version ("SG50 - Celebrating the nation's Golden jubilee"), issued on August 14, 2015, about which I wrote on this blog.
Four of these new ATM stamps were used on this special letter below sent on the first day of issue from the Shenton Way Post Office (south of the main island). Thank you very much Terence!

Ces nouvelles vignettes ont été imprimées par de nouvelles machines automatiques SAM (Self-Service Automated Machine) dont la machine S016 ici installée dans ce bureau de Shenton Way.
Cette vignette, comme son nom l'indique, représente l'impressionnante skyline de Singapour, en particulier autour de Marina Bay, avec le Merlion au premier plan.
On peut y voir (de gauche à droite) le ArtScience Museum, les 3 tours du Sands Expo® & Convention Centre ou le "Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay".
D'autres sites (Gardens by the Bay, grande roue "Singapore Flyer") figurent également sur cette enveloppe ("Souvenir Cover") mise en circulation spécialement.

These new ATM stamps have been printed by new SAM (Self-Service Automated Machine) machines, including the S016 machine installed here in this Shenton Way post office.
This ATM stamp, as its name suggests, represents the impressive skyline of Singapore, especially around Marina Bay, with the Merlion in the foreground.
You can see (from left to right) the ArtScience Museum, the 3 towers of the Sands Expo® & Convention Center or the "Esplanade - Theaters on the Bay".

50 ans de service national - FDC de Singapour

Le 14 mars 1967, le parlement de Singapour adoptait un amendement instituant la création d'un service national obligatoire (pour les hommes à partir de 18 ans), 2 ans après l'indépendance du pays et suite à l'annonce du retrait des troupes britanniques.
L'objectif était de permettre à ce nouveau pays de pouvoir se défendre par lui-même, sans dépendre d'autres pays en cas de crise, mais également de renforcer l'unité nationale.
50 ans jour pour jour après, le 14 mars 2017, la poste de Singapour a mis en circulation une série (5 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet), consacrée à la création de ce service national (NS), intitulée "NS50 - de ma génération à la tienne".
Un grand merci Terence pour cet intéressant FDC officiel ci-dessous concernant la série de 5 timbres, envoyé en recommandé depuis le bureau postal de Shenton Way (sud de l'île principale) !
On March 14, 1967, the Parliament of Singapore adopted an amendment about the creating of a compulsory National Service (for men aged 18 and over), two years after the independence of the country and following the announcement of the withdrawal of the British troops.
The objective was to enable this new country to defend itself, without depending on other countries during a crisis, but also to strengthen national unity.
50 years to the day after, on March 14, 2017, the Singapore Post put into circulation a series (5 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) dedicated to the creation of this National Service (NS), entitled "NS50 - From my generation to yours".

Ces 5 timbres (conception : Leo Teck Chong), imprimés en version gommée et autocollante (10 timbres par feuille), évoquent les principales étapes de la mise en place de ce service national, en particulier cet amendement de 1967 sur le 1er timbre (1st Local), montrant un portrait du Premier Ministre de l'époque, Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015), au pouvoir jusqu'en 1990 et qui a permis à Singapour d'être une des économies les plus florissantes de la planète.
Ce timbre est le 1er émis à Singapour avec son portrait et a été très prisé des collectionneurs singapouriens !
Les autres timbres sont consacrés aux premières incorporations de ces militaires en service national (National Servicemen Full-time ou NSFs) au sein des forces armées de Singapour (Singapore Armed Forces ou SAF) en 1967, au sein des forces de police (Singapore Police Force ou SPF) en 1975, au sein de la défense civile (Singapore Civil Defence Force ou SCDF) en 1981, ainsi que la création d'un système de mobilisation ouvert en 1985.
To note also on this envelope, in addition to the FDC cancellations, this cachet with the mention "50 years of National Service 1967-2017".
These 5 stamps (design : Leo Teck Chong), printed in gummed and self-adhesive version (10 stamps per sheet), mention the main stages of the establishment of this National Service, in particular this 1967 amendment on the 1st stamp (1st Local), depicting a portrait of the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015), in power until 1990, who allowed Singapore to become one of the most flourishing economies on the planet.
That stamp is the first one issued in Singapore with his portrait and has been very popular with Singaporean collectors!
The other stamps are devoted to the first batches of these National Servicemen Full-time (NSFs) enlisted into the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1967, into the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1975, into the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) in 1981, as well as the inctroduction of an Open Mobilisation System in 1985.

Ce festival a lieu chaque année depuis 1987 et propose au public de nombreuses activités liées aux célébrations de la nouvelle année lunaire.

This festival, held annually since 1987, offers to the public many activities related to the celebrations of the Lunar New Year.

La SingPost a à nouveau fait appel à Leo Teck Chong pour concevoir cette série de 3 timbres (ci-dessus) ainsi qu'un bloc-feuillet (2 timbres), ce dernier (imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing) incluant un vernis brillant et un effet le faisant briller dans le noir...
L'année 2017 (à partir du 28 janvier) est donc sous le signe du coq (le 10ème animal du cycle) associé à l'élément "feu".
D'après l'astrologie chinoise, les caractéristiques de chaque signe révèlent la personnalité des personnes mais aussi leurs vies ou les évènements se produisant dans l'année. Ainsi, les individus nés sous le signe du coq de feu sont intelligents, travailleurs, fiables et font tout pour atteindre leurs objectifs.

According to Chinese astrology, the traits of each sign shape the personality of people but also their lives or the events occurring in the year. Thus, people born under the sign of the fire rooster are intelligent, hardworking, reliable and do everything to achieve their goals.

During the 10 days of this "River Hongbao" Festival, the SingPost offered to the public 10 special cancellations each day including the one applied on the other side of this FDC above, put into circulation on the last day, February 4, 2017.
I really like this postmark showing a mother chicken with 3 young chicks, a symbol of luck and prosperity for the whole family!

Pour rappel, ces 2 timbres (1,30$ chacun, conception : Leo Teck Chong) ont pour thème la poterie et la céramique à travers des réalisations de 2 des plus grands céramistes des 2 pays : Iskandar Jalil (Singapour) et Toyozō Arakawa (Japon).
After the Japanese version of this joint stamp series, I'm pleased to share with you this very nice official FDC below concerning the two Singapore-Japan joint stamps, issued on November 29, 2016 in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

A noter cette intéressante oblitération mécanique du 29 novembre 2016 avec ce slogan consacré à la Giving Week, une opération nationale à Singapour, organisée du 29 novembre au 5 décembre 2016, incitant les entreprises, les associations et les particuliers à donner de leur temps ou de leur argent pour les autres, afin de faire de Singapour une "ville du bien".
The FDC cancellation, as well as the illustration on this envelope, are featuring the emblematic flowers of the two countries, the orchid "Vanda Miss Joaquim" for Singapore and cherry blossoms (sakura) for Japan.
To note this interesting mechanical cancellation of November 29, 2016 with this slogan devoted to the Giving Week, a national movement in Singapore, organized from 29 November to 5 December 2016, encouraging companies, associations and individuals to donate their time or their money for others, in order to make Singapore a "City of Good".

Afin de célébrer le 50ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre le Japon et Singapour, les administrations postales des 2 pays ont mis en circulation, le 29 novembre 2016, une série commune de 2 timbres consacrée à la poterie et à la céramique à travers deux grands artistes, Iskandar Jalil (Singapour) et Toyozō Arakawa (Japon).
Cette émission commune a en particulier été dévoilée à Tokyo lors de la visite officielle du président de Singapour, Tony Tan.
Comme souvent concernant les émissions communes, la poste japonaise a émis ces 2 timbres communs dans un feuillet composé également de 8 autres timbres ayant pour thème Singapour (gastronomie, flore, patrimoine culturel, paysages urbains, Merlion).
In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore, the postal administrations of the two countries put into circulation on 29 November 2016 a joint series of two stamps devoted to pottery and ceramics through two great artists, Iskandar Jalil (Singapore) and Toyozō Arakawa (Japan).
This joint issue was unveiled in Tokyo during the official visit of the President of Singapore, Tony Tan.
As it is often the case with joint issues, the Japanese Post has issued these two joint stamps in a sheet also composed of 8 other stamps devoted to Singapore (gastronomy, flora, cultural heritage, urban landscapes, Merlion).

Ces 2 timbres communs japonais (82 yen chacun) sont inclus dans la partie supérieure de ce feuillet, utilisé à gauche sur cette impressionnante lettre ci-dessus, envoyée le 1er jour d'émission (date du 28 novembre 2016 ?) depuis la ville de Wakayama (située dans la partie sud de l'île d'Honshū). Merci beaucoup Tomoko !
Ces TAD rouges montrent la tête du célèbre Merlion, le symbole de Singapour, également présent dans la marge à droite sur ce feuillet, incluant également la fleur nationale (orchidée Vanda Miss Joaquim), la statue de Thomas Stamford Raffles (le fondateur de Singapour) ou une évocation de Gardens by the Bay ("Supertree Grove").
Le Merlion est également présent sur un des 2 autres timbres à droite, l'autre montrant une vue de nuit de Raffles Place avec ses buildings modernes et le Fullerton Hotel Singapore.
Les oeuvres du céramiste japonais Toyozō Arakawa (1894-1985), "Trésor national vivant" au Japon, évoquent souvent la cérémonie du thé, comme les 2 récipients sur le timbre commun à droite.
L'autre timbre représente une oeuvre d'Iskandar Jalil (né en 1940), un des plus grands céramistes modernes à Singapour, influencé en particulier par la poterie japonaise.
These 2 Japanese joint stamps (82 yen each) are included in the upper part of this sheet, used on the left on this impressive cover above, sent on the first day of issue (date of November 28, 2016 ?) from the city of Wakayama (located in the southern part of the island of Honshū). Thank you very much Tomoko !
These red cancellations show the head of the famous Merlion, the symbol of Singapore, also present in the right margin on this sheet, also including the national flower (Orchid "Vanda Miss Joaquim"), the statue of Thomas Stamford Raffles (the founder of Singapore) and an evocation of Gardens by the Bay ("Supertree Grove").
The Merlion is also present on one of the other two stamps on the right, the other one showing a night view of Raffles Place with its modern buildings and the Fullerton Hotel Singapore.
The works of the Japanese ceramist Toyozō Arakawa (1894-1985), "Living National Treasure" in Japan, often evoke the tea ceremony, as the two containers on the joint stamp on the right.
The other stamp is featuring a work by Iskandar Jalil (born in 1940), one of the greatest modern ceramists in Singapore, influenced in particular by Japanese pottery. 
 

"Religious Festivals" stamp set on FDC (Return to sender) from Singapore

La poste de Singapour avait déjà mis en circulation en 2010 une série de 8 timbres consacrée à quatre festivals importants liés aux différentes communautés religieuses et spirituelles composant ce pays multiethnique (chinois, malais, indiens principalement).
Cette série concernait 4 festivals, déclinés chacun en 2 timbres : la nouvelle année lunaire chinoise, les fêtes de Noël célébrées par les catholiques autour de la naissance du Christ, la fête musulmane d'Hari Raya Aidilfitri (ou Eid ul-Fitr) célébrée chaque année à la fin du Ramadan et Deepavali, ou "festival des lumières", célébré par les communautés hindoues et sikhs à travers le monde (à partir du 30 octobre cette année).
The Singapore Post had already released a series of eight stamps in 2010, devoted to four important festivals associated with the various religious and spiritual communities (mainly Chinese, Malay and Indian) that make up this multiethnic country.
The series dealt with four festivals, each with 2 stamps : Chinese Lunar New Year, Christmas festivities celebrated by Catholics around the birth of Jesus Christ, Hari Raya Aidilfitri (or Eid ul-Fitr), a Muslim festival celebrated each Year at the end of Ramadan and Deepavali, or Festival of Lights, celebrated by Hindu and Sikh communities around the world (from October 30 this year).

Le 19 octobre 2016, une série similaire a été émise à Singapour, composée de 8 timbres, 2 (1st Local et 70c) pour chaque festival, consacrée à ces mêmes 4 festivals.

On October 19, 2016, a similar series was issued in Singapore, consisting of 8 stamps, 2 (1st Local and 70c) for each festival, devoted to these same 4 festivals.

Terence had the good idea to send me this letter thinking that I had a Post Box at the Santa Claus main post office in Finland ;)

Cette lettre m'a donc été retournée (mon adresse réelle figurant au dos de cette enveloppe ci-dessus).
Je ne suis pas arrivé à déchiffrer l'empreinte apposée le 8 novembre 2016 sur le recto de cette lettre, ni à quoi correspond cette vignette autocollante "K 1366" ?
Je suppose que la poste finlandaise a procédé ainsi à réception de ce pli, de même pour cette étiquette rose classique ci-dessus (avec la case "Non réclamé" cochée, en date du 11 novembre 2016) apposée sur les plis avec "retour à l'envoyeur"...
Malheureusement, comme mentionné en haut à gauche (malgré la consigne de Terence !), l'employé de la poste n'a pas trouvé de place sur ce verso pour appliquer un TAD spécial...
This letter was returned to me (my actual address being written on the back of this envelope above).
I did not manage to decipher the inkprint applied on the front of this letter on November 8, 2016, nor what that self-adhesive sticker "K 1366" is meaning ?
I guess that the Finnish Post proceeded like that on receipt of this cover, in the same way for this classic pink label above (with the mention "Unclaimed" checked, dated November 11, 2016) affixed on the "return to sender" covers...
Unfortunately, as mentioned in the top left (despite Terence's instructions !), the postman did not find any place on this envelope's reverse to apply a special cancellation... 
 

Singapore-Pakistan 2016 joint stamp issue : national flowers

Le 17 août 1966, Singapour et Pakistan établissaient officiellement des relations diplomatiques, un an après l'indépendance de Singapour.
A noter qu'avant cette date, le Pakistan rejetait la décision de Singapour de quitter la fédération de Malaisie et de devenir un état à part entière...
Depuis 50 ans, les 2 pays (membres du Commonwealth) entretiennent de bonnes relations économiques (Singapour est un des premiers investisseurs étrangers au Pakistan), humanitaires ou militaires.
Afin de célébrer ces 50 ans de relations diplomatiques, les administrations postales des 2 pays ont mis en circulation, le 18 octobre 2016, une série commune de 2 timbres ayant pour thème les fleurs nationales.
On August 17, 1966, Singapore and Pakistan officially established diplomatic relations, one year after Singapore's independence.
It should be noted that before that date, Pakistan rejected the decision of Singapore to leave the Malaysian Federation and to become a state in its own right...
For 50 years, the two countries (Commonwealth of Nations members) have good economic (Singapore is one of the first foreign investors in Pakistan), humanitarian or military relations.
In order to celebrate these 50 years of diplomatic relations, the postal administrations of the two countries have put into circulation, on October 18, 2016, a joint series of two stamps devoted to the theme of national flowers.

Ces 2 timbres (1,30$ chacun, conception : Ivory Seah, imprimés en feuillet de 10 timbres), avec le traditionnel Merlion dans le coin en haut à droite, représentent une fleur de jasmin blanc (Jasminum officinale), fleur nationale du Pakistan, et l'orchidée Vanda Miss Joaquim, fleur nationale de Singapour depuis 1981.

These two stamps ($ 1.30 each, design : Ivory Seah, printed in sheet of 10 stamps), with the traditional Merlion in the upper right corner, are featuring a white jasmine (Jasminum officinale) flower, national flower of Pakistan, and the orchid Vanda Miss Joaquim, the national flower of Singapore since 1981.

J'ai également eu la chance de recevoir le FDC officiel ci-dessus (avec TAD de la ville d'Hyderabad) avec la version pakistanaise de cette série commune. Merci beaucoup Ali !
La poste pakistanaise annonce curieusement un autre concepteur pour ces 2 timbres (Rs 8 chacun), Naveed Awan mais je suppose qu'il a conçu le timbre "jasmin" et qu'Ivory Seah à conçu l'autre timbre...
Ces 2 timbres (tirage : 200000, imprimés en feuille de 32 timbres) sont pratiquement identiques, le Merlion sur le timbre "jasmin" ayant été remplacé par le drapeau du Pakistan (à l'envers ?).
A noter cette empreinte "Say no to corruption" appliquée en haut à gauche sur cette enveloppe !

The Pakistan Post is curiously announcing another designer for these two stamps (Rs 8 each), Naveed Awan, but I guess he designed the stamp "jasmine" and Ivory Seah designed the other stamp...
These two stamps (print run : 200,000, printed in sheet of 32 stamps) are practically identical, the Merlion on the stamp "jasmine" having been replaced by the flag of Pakistan (upside down ?).
To note this "Say no to corruption" inkmark applied at the top left on this envelope !

Ali a également utilisé 2 autres sets de cette émission commune sur l'autre côté de cette enveloppe ci-dessus, incluant 3 oblitérations différentes d'Hyderabad appliquées les 27 et 28 octobre 2016.
Un 5ème timbre (Rs 2) figure également ci-dessus, faisant partie d'une série de 3 timbres émise le 14 août 2003 à l'occasion de la 56ème journée de l'indépendance (évoquant la création du Dominion du Pakistan le 14 août 1947 suite à la Partition des Indes).
Ce timbre est consacré à l'homme politique Muhamad Yusuf Khan Khattak (1917-1991), membre de la Ligue musulmane puis du Parti du peuple pakistanais et figure du mouvement d'indépendance du pays.
Ali also used two other sets of this joint issue on the other side of this envelope above, including three different cancellations from Hyderabad applied on 27 and 28 October 2016.
A fifth stamp (Rs 2) is also included above, being part of a series of three stamps issued on August 14, 2003 on the occasion of the 56th Independence Day (referring to the creation of the Dominion of Pakistan on August 14, 1947 following the Partition of British India).
That stamp is devoted to politician and lawyer Muhamad Yusuf Khan Khattak (1917-1991), a member of the Muslim League and then of the Pakistan People's Party and figure of the country's independence movement. 
 

World Post Day 2016 both celebrated in Singapore and at UPU headquarters in Bern !

Journée mondiale de la poste 2016 célébrée à Singapour et au siège de l'UPU à Berne !

La Journée mondiale de la poste est célébrée chaque année le 9 octobre (depuis 1969) afin de marquer la date anniversaire de la fondation de l'Union Postale Universelle (UPU) en 1874 à Berne en Suisse.
D'après l'UPU, "l'objectif de cette Journée est de sensibiliser les citoyens et les entreprises au rôle de la poste dans leur vie quotidienne et de sa contribution au développement socio-économique des pays".
Ayant pour thème "Innovation, intégration et inclusion", cette journée mondiale de la poste 2016 a été célébrée dans de nombreux pays, y compris à Singapour où, comme de coutume, une flamme postale incluant une illustration spéciale (lettres autour d'un globe terrestre) a été mise en circulation.
World Post Day is celebrated each year on October 9th (since 1969) to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland.
According to the UPU, "the purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries". 
With the theme "Innovation, integration and inclusion", this World Post Day 2016 was celebrated in many countries, including Singapore, where, as usual, a World Post Day slogan design including a special illustration (letters around a globe) was put into circulation.

C'est cette oblitération mécanique (émise dans le centre de tri C2 de Paya Lebar) qui a été appliquée sur la lettre ci-dessus le 10 octobre 2016. Merci beaucoup Terence !
Le 9 octobre tombant cette année un dimanche, cette flamme était proposée au public du 10 au 14 octobre 2016.
Terence a utilisé un timbre (70c) faisant partie de la série (4 timbres) émise le 21 septembre 2016, consacrée à différentes espèces de rapaces recensées dans le pays, un pygargue blagre (Haliaeetus leucogaster) ici.
A l'occasion des fêtes de Dipavali, des tarifs postaux réduits étaient en effet en vigueur entre le 8 et le 29 octobre 2016, par exemple 70c pour une lettre jusqu'à 40g vers l'étranger (hors Malaisie et Brunei) au lieu de 1,30$ pour une lettre identique jusqu'à 20g habituellement !
This mechanical cancellation (issued in the sorting center C2 in Paya Lebar) was applied on the letter above on October 10, 2016. Thank you very much Terence !
October 9 this year falling on a Sunday, this cancellation was proposed to the public from 10 October 2016 to 14 October 2016.
Terence used a stamp (70c) being part of the series (4 stamps) issued on September 21, 2016, devoted to different species of birds of prey living in the country, a White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) here.
On the occasion of celebrations of Deepavali, festive postage rates were indeed offered between 8 October 2016 and 29 October 2016, for example 70c for a letter up to 40g sent to anywhere in the world (excluding Malaysia and Brunei) instead of $ 1.30 for a same letter up to 20g usually !

Terence a eu la bonne idée d'adresser cette lettre à une boîte postale fictive au siège de l'UPU à Berne en Suisse (avec mon adresse réelle pour le renvoi au verso de l'enveloppe ci-dessus).
A noter ce TAD  du 9 octobre 2016 apposé par le centre de tri situé à Paya Lebar (est du pays) où transitent toutes les lettres postées sur le territoire de Singapour.
Avant de renvoyer cette lettre à mon adresse, l'UPU a eu aussi la bonne idée d'apposer (sur les 2 côtés de l'enveloppe) cet imposant cachet bleu représentant l'emblème de l'UPU, inspiré par le monument de l'UPU ("Weltpostdenkmal") situé à Berne depuis 1909, symbolisant les 5 continents se transmettant des messages autour du globe !
Terence had the good idea to send this letter to a fictitious postal box at UPU headquarters in Bern, Switzerland (with my actual postal address for the return-to-sender on the reverse of the envelope above).
To note this postmark dated October 9, 2016 applied by the sorting mail center in Paya Lebar (east of the country) where all letters posted in the territory of Singapore are passing through.
Before sending back this letter to my real address, the UPU had also the good idea to affix (on the two sides of the envelope) this imposing blue cachet depicting the UPU's emblem, inspired by the monument of UPU ("Weltpostdenkmal") located in Bern since 1909, symbolizing the five continents joining to transmit messages around the globe !

Curieusement, aucune empreinte du type "retour à l'envoyeur" n'a été apposée sur cette lettre, reçue à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe officielle de l'UPU ci-dessus, envoyée le 17 octobre 2016 de Berne...
Curiously, no "return to sender" inkmark has been applied on this letter, received inside the official UPU envelope above, sent from Bern on October 17, 2016...
