De nombreuses administrations postales ont commémoré en 2012 le centenaire de cette tragédie : Aland, Belgique, Irlande, Hongrie, Bulgarie, Gibraltar, Jersey, Equateur, île de Man, Alderney, Macédoine, Bosnie-Herzégovine, République serbe de Bosnie...

Cette lettre a été postée le 21 septembre 2012 de la municipalité de Saint-Pierre-de-l'Ile-d'Orléans (province du Québec) et a transité le lendemain par l'établissement de traitement du courrier international Léo-Blanchette de la ville de Saint-Laurent (H4T 1T4) où une vilaine oblitération mécanique a été appliquée...
Pour concevoir cette série de 4 timbres (tarif permanent domestique soit 0,61$ actuellement), Dennis Page et Oliver Hill se sont inspirés d'archives du musée maritime de l'Atlantique d'Halifax.
La partie supérieure de ce bloc montre une vue de la partie avant du Titanic avec dans le fond, la localisation des villes de Southampton et d'Halifax. Les premiers navires de secours arrivés sur le lieu de cette tragédie venaient en effet tous de cette ville canadienne.
Les 2 timbres du bas montrent les 3 hélices situées à l'arrière du Titanic lors de sa construction à Belfast par l'armateur "White Star Line" dont le pavillon est représenté sur cette série ci-dessus.
A noter qu'un bloc-feuillet, montrant une vue de côté en couleur très différente du Titanic, a également été émis.
This letter was mailed on September 21, 2012 from the municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-l'Ile-d'Orléans (province of Quebec) and has transited the next day by the International Mail Processing Centre Léo-Blanchette of the city of Saint-Laurent (H4T 1T4) where an ugly mechanical cancellation was applied...
To design this series of four stamps (permanent domestic rate, i.e.currently $ 0.61), Dennis Page and Oliver Hill were inspired by the archives of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax.
The upper part of this block above shows a view of the bow of the Titanic with the location of Southampton and Halifax in the background. The first rescue vessels arriving at the scene of this tragedy came indeed from this Canadian city.
The two other stamps show the three propellers at the stern of the Titanic during its construction in Belfast by the "White Star Line" shipowner whose flag is also depicted on the series above.
To note that a souvenir sheet, showing a very different full colour side view of the Titanic, was also issued.
