Émission commune Suède/Pologne - Hommage à Marie Curie

A tribute to Marie Curie on a Sweden-Poland joint issue

Marie Curie est née Skłodowska en 1867 à Varsovie en Pologne et le Prix Nobel de chimie est remis chaque année à Stockholm en Suède.
C'est certainement pour ces 2 raisons que les administrations postales de ces 2 pays ont décidé d'émettre, le 17 novembre 2011, un bloc-feuillet commun consacré au 100ème anniversaire de ce Prix Nobel de Chimie.
J'avais déjà évoqué sur ce blog la version polonaise de ce bloc sur mon blog en 2011 et c'est cette fois la version du bloc suédois, conçu également par Marzanna Dabrowska et gravé par Piotr Naszarkowski, qui figure sur le joli pli ci-dessous posté le 1er juillet 2013 de Göteborg. Merci beaucoup Martin :-)
Le timbre du haut est inspiré d'une photographie de Marie Curie dans son laboratoire à l'institut du radium à Paris en 1921 alors que le 2ème timbre évoque le radium (métal argenté légèrement bleu luminescent dans un environnement inerte) et la médaille Nobel.
Marie Skłodowska Curie was born in 1867 in Warsaw, Poland and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry is awarded annually in Stockholm, Sweden.
It is probably for these two reasons that the postal administrations of these two countries have decided to issue, on November 17, 2011, a joint souvenir sheet devoted to the 100th anniversary of her Nobel Prize in Chemistry. 
I've already mentioned on this blog the Polish version of that sheet on my blog in 2011 and it is this time the Swedish version, also designed by Marzanna Dabrowska and engraved by Piotr Naszarkowski, that was used on the nice cover below mailed on July 1, 2013 from Gothenburg. Thank you very much Martin :-)
The stamp at the top is inspired by a photograph of Marie Curie in her laboratory at the Radium Institute in Paris in 1921 while the second stamp evokes the radium element (slightly blue luminescent silvery metal in an inert environment) and the Nobel medal.

Pour rappel, 2011 avait été déclarée année internationale de la chimie (AIC), succédant à l'année internationale de la physique (2005) et de l'astronomie (2009).
Cette AIC, une décision des Nations Unies, organisée conjointement par l'UNESCO et l'union internationale de chimie pure et appliquée, devait permettre de montrer le rôle primordial de la chimie dans les activités humaines et ses apports essentiels à la protection de l'environnement...
L'année 2011 avait été choisie car elle coïncidait avec le 100ème anniversaire de l'attribution du Prix Nobel de chimie à Marie Curie, honorée pour ses travaux sur le radium et le polonium.
A noter que d'autres administrations postales avaient choisi de commémorer cette Année Internationale de la Chimie 2011 en émettant des timbres évoquant Marie Curie (France, Espagne, Sri Lanka, Jersey, République serbe de Bosnie, Paraguay)...

The year 2011 was chosen because it coincided with the 100th anniversary of Marie Curie's Nobel Prize in Chemistry, honored for her work on radium and polonium.
