Comme de coutume, la poste maltaise a choisi le 9 mai 2016 (Journée de l'Europe) pour émettre sa série EUROPA, consacrée cette année à l'écologie à travers le slogan "Think Green!".
C'est cette série de 2 timbres qui figure sur le FDC illustré officiel ci-dessous avec TAD de la ville de Marsa (située dans la zone intérieure du Grand Harbour). Merci beaucoup Silvan !
Ces 2 timbres, dont celui reproduisant le dessin commun choisi par PostEurop pour célébrer cette année le 60ème anniversaire de l'émission des premiers timbres EUROPA, ont été émis chacun en feuille numérotée composée de 11 timbres + 1 vignette, incluant le logo EUROPA et la mention "Think Green" précédée d'une ampoule verte (cf l'illustration à gauche sur cette enveloppe).
As usual, the Malta Post has chosen May 9, 2016 (Europe Day) to issue its EUROPA stamp set, devoted this year to the ecology around the slogan "Think Green!".
It is that set of two stamps appearing on the official illustrated FDC below with cancellations from the city of Marsa (located in the inner area of the Grand Harbour). Thank you very much Silvan !
These two stamps, including the one reproducing the common design chosen by PostEurop to celebrate this year the 60th anniversary of the first EUROPA stamps, have been issued each in a numbered sheet consisting of 11 stamps + 1 vignette, including the EUROPA logo as well as the mention "Think Green" preceded by a green bulb (see the illustration on the left on the envelope).
Le timbre à 0,59€ (tirage : 52800), émis également dans un carnet de 5 timbres, reprend donc ce dessin commun (conception : Doxia Sergidou) proposé par la poste chypriote, exprimant l'aspiration du monde pour un environnement meilleur et plus propre.
Le 2ème timbre (2,19€, tirage : 35200) a été conçu par l'artiste Sean Cini, qui s'est inspiré du graphisme du timbre commun, avec un côté gris et un côté vert, transposé dans un contexte maltais en soulignant l'importance d'avoir une "mentalité verte" (avec ces 2 têtes opposées).
A l'intérieur de la tête verte, ainsi que sur le TAD Premier Jour, figure le moulin à vent Ta 'Kola situé à Xagħra, sur l'île de Gozo, construit vers 1725 puis reconstruit vers 1780.
Symbolisant un type d'énergie renouvelable, ce moulin se visite aujourd'hui comme un musée et est un des rares moulins à vent du pays datant de la période des Chevaliers.
The € 0.59 stamp (print run : 52,800), also issued in a booklet of 5 stamps, therefore incorporates this joint drawing (design : Doxia Sergidou) proposed by the Cyprus Post, expressing the world's aspiration for a better and cleaner environment.
The 2nd stamp (€ 2.19, print run : 35,200) was designed by artist Sean Cini, inspired by the design of the joint stamp, with a gray side and a green side, transposed in a Maltese context by highlighting the importance of engendering a "green mentality" (with these two opposite heads).
Inside the green head, as well as on the FDC cancellation, is featured the Ta 'Kola windmill located in Xagħra, on the island of Gozo, built around 1725 and rebuilt in the 1780s.
Symbolizing a type of renewable energy, this windmill is today visited as a museum and is one of the few surviving windmills in the country dating from the Knights' period.
