Le 23 avril 2018, la poste espagnole ("Correus espanyols" en catalan) en Principauté d'Andorre a mis en circulation son timbre EUROPA, dont le thème cette année est consacré aux ponts.
C'est ce timbre (1,35€, tirage : 70000) qui figure sur le pli ci-dessous, avec TAD (plutôt inhabituel) d'Andorre-la-Vieille, la capitale, daté du 9 novembre 2018.
Ce TAD a été appliqué pendant le 72ème Salon Philatélique d'Automne organisé à Paris du 8 au 11 novembre 2018, sur le stand de la poste espagnole. Idem concernant le cachet spécial en bas à gauche, évoquant ce salon et représentant le célèbre Arc de triomphe de l'Étoile.
On April 23, 2018, the Spanish Post ("Correus espanyols" in Catalan) in the Principality of Andorra put into circulation its EUROPA stamp, whose theme this year is dedicated to bridges.
It is that stamp (€ 1.35, print run: 70,000) which was used on the cover below, with postmark (rather unusual) from Andorra la Vella, the capital, dated November 9, 2018.
This postmark was applied during the 72nd "Salon Philatélique d'Automne" held in Paris from 8 to 11 November 2018, at the Spanish Post's stand. Idem concerning the special cachet on the bottom left, mentioning this stamp exhibition and depicting the famous Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile.
Ce timbre EUROPA est très particulier puisque le pont d'Engordany à l'honneur ici a été imprimé avec une couche incluant de la véritable poudre de pierre !
Ce pont d'Engordany, situé dans le village du même nom (paroisse d'Escaldes-Engordany, sud-est de la principauté), a été construit en 1785 pour enjamber la rivière Valira d'Orient et relier les villages d'Escaldes et d'Engordany, autrefois indépendants.
Construit à la place d'un pont détruit pendant une crue de la rivière, ce pont est en forme d'arc asymétrique avec une différence de hauteur entre ses deux extrémités.
Le 16 juillet 2003, afin de protéger ce pont et le site dans lequel il se trouve, il a été classé par le gouvernement d'Andorre bien d'intérêt culturel, dans la catégorie "Monuments", préservant ainsi la beauté de l'ensemble architectural.
This EUROPA stamp is very special since the Engordany Bridge, in the spotlight here, has been printed with a layer including real stone powder!
This Engordany Bridge, located in the village of the same name (parish of Escaldes-Engordany, south-east of the principality), was built in 1785 to span the river Valira d'Orient and connect the villages of Escaldes and of Engordany, formerly independent.
Built to replace a bridge destroyed during a flood of the river, this bridge is shaped like an asymmetric arch with a difference in height between its two ends.
On July 16, 2003, in order to protect both the bridge and the surrounding area, it was declared of Cultural Interest by the Government of Andorra, under the "Monuments" category, helping to preserve the beauty of the site as a whole.
