Avec Malte, la France, l'Espagne, l'Ukraine, la Géorgie, Monaco, la Moldavie ou Saint-Marin, Chypre a mis en circulation cette année, le 10 septembre 2019, un timbre consacré au 70ème anniversaire de la création du Conseil de l'Europe.
Ce timbre (0,34€, tirage : 90000) représente le Palais de l'Europe à Strasbourg, conçu par l'architecte français Henry Bernard et inauguré en 1977, le bâtiment principal du Conseil de l'Europe, avec à droite le logo officiel de ce 70ème anniversaire et l'emblème du Conseil de l'Europe.
Le slogan associé à ce 70ème anniversaire, "Nos droits, nos libertés, notre Europe", est également présent sur ce timbre, en grec ("Τα δικαιώματά μας, οι ελευθερίες μας, η Ευρώπη μας").
La République de Chypre est devenu le 16ème état membre du Conseil de l'Europe le 24 mai 1961.
Ce timbre a été utilisé à gauche sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 9 octobre 2019 (Journée mondiale de la poste) depuis Nicosie (Lefkosia en grec).
With Malta, France, Spain, Ukraine, Georgia, Monaco, Moldova or San Marino, Cyprus has put into circulation this year, on September 10, 2019, a stamp dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Council of Europe.
This stamp (€ 0.34, print run: 90,000) features the "Palais de l'Europe" in Strasbourg, designed by the French architect Henry Bernard and inaugurated in 1977, the main building of the Council of Europe, with on the right the official logo of this 70th anniversary and the emblem of the Council of Europe.
The slogan associated with this 70th anniversary, "Our rights, our freedoms, our Europe", is also present on this stamp, in Greek ("Τα δικαιώματά μας, οι ελευθερίες μας, η Ευρώπη μας").
The Republic of Cyprus became the 16th member state of the Council of Europe on May 24, 1961. This stamp was used to the left on the cover below sent on October 9, 2019 (the World Post Day) from Nicosia (Lefkosia in Greek).
L'autre timbre (0,41€, tirage : 90000) est consacré au 75ème anniversaire de l'Organisation de l'aviation civile internationale (OACI), une agence spécialisée des Nations unies (193 états membres), fondée en 1944, dont le rôle est de participer à l'élaboration des politiques et des normes qui permettent la standardisation du transport aéronautique international.
Ce timbre reproduit le logo officiel de ce 75ème anniversaire et son slogan associé, "75 ans à connecter le monde" en anglais.
A noter également ce 3ème timbre (0,02€, émission de 2019) avec mention "Refugee Stamp" (en grec, anglais et turc), réémis régulièrement, apposé en complément sur toutes les lettres et cartes postales postées sur l'île afin de financer un fond pour les réfugiés grecs ayant fui le nord de l'île après l'invasion turque de 1974.
The other stamp (€ 0.41, print run: 90,000) is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a United Nations specialized agency (193 member states), founded in 1944, whose role is to participate in the development of policies and norms that allow the standardization of international aviation.
This stamp reproduces the official logo of this 75th anniversary and its associated slogan, "75 years of connecting the world" in English.
To note also this 3rd stamp (€ 0.02, issue of 2019) with "Refugee Stamp" mention (in Greek, English and Turkish), reissued regularly, affixed in complement on all the letters and postcards mailed from the island in order to finance the fund for the Greek refugees who fled the north after the Turkish invasion in 1974.
