A noter ces imposants TAD ronds bicolores ainsi que cette empreinte rectangulaire avec mention "Sorting government mail" appliquée le même jour.
Les premiers timbres avec mention "Botswana" ont été émis le 30 septembre 1966 après l'indépendance du pays, remplaçant les précédents timbres avec mention "Protectorat du Bechuanaland" émis à partir de 1888.
Depuis plus de 50 ans, la politique d'émission de timbres botswanais est très raisonnable, avec quelques séries de timbres émises chaque année, ayant toujours un rapport direct avec le pays (culture, politique, faune, flore...).

To note these imposing two-color round cancellations as well as this rectangular imprint with the mention "Sorting government mail" applied the same day.
The first stamps with the mention "Botswana" were issued on September 30, 1966 after the country's independence, replacing the previous stamps with the mention "Bechuanaland Protectorate" issued from 1888.
For over 50 years, the stamp issuing policy of Botswana has been very reasonable, with a few sets of stamps issued each year, always having a direct relationship with the country (culture, politics, fauna, flora ...).
Comme par exemple les 2 timbres (2,60 et 6,10 pula) utilisés sur cette lettre, faisant partie d'une série WWF (4 timbres, conception : Jacob Disele) émise le 21 novembre 2011, consacrée au rhinocéros blanc du sud (Ceratotherium simum simum), une des deux sous-espèces de rhinocéros blanc avec le rhinocéros blanc du nord (Ceratotherium simum cottoni), qui a quasiment disparu.
Le rhinocéros blanc du sud avait presque disparu également au début du 20ème siècle, son aire de répartition s'étendant aujourd'hui principalement de la Namibie au Mozambique, en passant par le Zimbabwe, le Botswana et l'Afrique du Sud (environ 20000 individus recensés à l'état sauvage).
A noter que les 4 timbres de cette série ont également été imprimés dans un impressionnant bloc-feuillet dont les contours épousent la forme d'un rhinocéros...
As for example the 2 stamps (2.60 and 6.10 Pula) used on this letter, being part of a WWF series (4 stamps, design: Jacob Disele) issued on November 21, 2011, dedicated to the Southern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum), one of the two subspecies of white rhinoceros with the northern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni), which has almost disappeared.
Almost at the edge of extinction in the 20th century, Southern white rhinoceros has today a range extending mainly from Namibia to Mozambique, passing by Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa (around 20,000 individuals living in the wild).
To note that the 4 stamps in this series were also printed in an impressive souvenir sheet whose contours follow the shape of a rhinoceros ...
Terence a également utilisé 3 autres timbres sur l'autre côté de cette enveloppe ci-dessus, faisant partie d'une série (14 timbres, conception : Gwithie Kirby) émise le 13 mai 2014, intitulée "Oiseaux spectaculaires du Botswana".
Ces 3 timbres (0,10 - 0,20 - 3 pula) sont respectivement consacrés à la Caille arlequin (Coturnix delegorguei), au Ganga de Burchell (Pterocles burchelli) et à la Spatule d'Afrique (Platalea alba).
A noter cette mention erronée "Coturnix delegorgue" sur le timbre à 0,10 pula...
Terence also used 3 other stamps on the other side of this envelope above, being part of a series (14 stamps, design: Gwithie Kirby) issued on May 13, 2014, entitled "Spectacular Birds of Botswana".
These 3 stamps (0.10 - 0.20 - 3 Pula) are respectively devoted to the Harlequin quail (Coturnix delegorguei), the Burchell's sandgrouse (Pterocles burchelli) and the African spoonbill (Platalea alba).
To note this erroneous mention "Coturnix delegorgue" on the 0.10 Pula stamp ...
