"Tokyo 2020 Olympics" souvenir sheet on cover from Azerbaijan

Bloc-feuillet "Jeux olympiques Tokyo 2020" sur lettre d'Azerbaïdjan

Le 23 juillet 2021, la poste d'Azerbaïdjan a mis en circulation un intéressant bloc-feuillet consacré aux jeux olympiques d'été de Tokyo 2020 (32ème olympiade), organisés du 23 juillet au 8 août 2021 à cause de la pandémie mondiale de Covid-19.
Ce bloc-feuillet composé de 4 timbres (tirage : 10000), conçu par Vugar Eyyubov, a été utilisé sur cette lettre envoyée le 27 mars 2022 depuis Bakou, la capitale. Merci beaucoup Mahir !
Avec un total de 7 médailles remportées (3 argent, 4 bronze) lors de ces jeux de Tokyo, l'Azerbaïdjan a  connu son pire bilan depuis sa 1ère participation en tant que nation indépendante aux jeux olympiques de 1996 à Atlanta.
Entre 2000 et 2016, l'Azerbaïdjan avait toujours au moins remporté une médaille d'or.
On July 23, 2021, the Post of Azerbaijan released an interesting souvenir sheet dedicated to the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics (32nd Olympiad), organized from July 23 to August 8, 2021 due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
This souvenir sheet consisting of 4 stamps (print run: 10,000), designed by Vugar Eyyubov, was used on this letter sent on March 27, 2022 from Baku, the capital. Thank you very much Mahir!
With a total of 7 medals won (3 silver, 4 bronze) during these games in Tokyo, Azerbaijan experienced its worst record since its first participation as an independent nation in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Between 2000 and 2016, Azerbaijan had always won at least one gold medal.

 

A Tokyo, la délégation azerbaïdjanaise était composée de 44 athlètes (28 hommes, 16 femmes) engagés dans 13 sports, avec des médailles remportées uniquement dans des sports de combat (lutte, judo, boxe, karaté).
Ce bloc-feuillet est composé de 4 timbres (0,6 manat chacun) illustrant différents sports au programme de ces jeux de Tokyo : cyclisme, tennis, volley-ball et haltérophilie. A noter que l'Azerbaïdjan n'a jamais remporté la moindre médaille olympique dans un de ces 4 sports.
Un disque rouge, emblème du Japon, figure au centre de ce bloc-feuillet, chaque timbre comportant les anneaux olympiques ainsi que la mention Tokyo (avec année associée 2020 se transformant en 2021 !).

In Tokyo, the Azerbaijani delegation was made up of 44 athletes (28 men, 16 women) engaged in 13 sports, with medals won only in combat sports (wrestling, judo, boxing, karate).

This souvenir sheet is composed of 4 stamps (0.6 manat each) illustrating different sports on the program of these Tokyo games: cycling, tennis, volleyball and weightlifting. To note that Azerbaijan has never won any Olympic medal in one of these 4 sports.

A red disc, the emblem of Japan, appears in the center of this souvenir sheet, each stamp bearing the Olympic rings as well as the mention Tokyo (with associated year 2020 turning into 2021, funny!).
