Timbres "Louis Pasteur" et "Thomas Edison" sur lettre de Macédoine du Nord

Pionnier de la microbiologie, le scientifique, chimiste et physicien de formation français Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) connut, de son vivant même, une grande notoriété pour avoir mis au point, entre autres, un vaccin contre la rage.
Plus largement, ses découvertes ont bouleversé les conceptions de la pathologie infectieuse, influencé la chimie biologique et créé de nouvelles méthodes industrielles, faisant de ce travailleur infatigable l'une des figures mondiales les plus célèbres de la science.
Comme d'autres administrations postales (Roumanie, Vietnam, France, Andorre, Bulgarie, Hongrie, Moldavie, Corée du Sud, Pologne, Kirghizstan), la poste de Macédoine du Nord a mis en circulation, le 14 avril 2022, un timbre (144 MKD) à l'occasion du 200ème anniversaire de la naissance de Louis Pasteur.
Ce timbre (conception : T. Pocevska) a été utilisé à droite sur cette lettre envoyée le 31 octobre 2023 depuis Skopje, la capitale. 
A pioneer in microbiology, the French scientist, chemist and physicist Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) known a great notoriety during his lifetime for having developed, among other things, a rabies vaccine.
More broadly, his discoveries overturned conceptions of infectious pathology, influenced biological chemistry and created new industrial methods, making this tireless worker one of the world's most famous figures in science.
Like other postal administrations (Romania, Vietnam, France, Andorra, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, South Korea, Poland, Kyrgyzstan), the North Macedonia Post put into circulation, on April 14, 2022, a stamp (144 MKD) on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Louis Pasteur.
This stamp (design: T. Pocevska) was used on the right on this cover sent on October 31, 2023 from Skopje, the capital.

 

Ce timbre représente en particulier (à droite) le microscope utilisé par Louis Pasteur (Musée Pasteur à Paris).
Le bloc-feuillet non dentelé et numéroté (144 MKD, conception : L. Kufalo) à gauche, émis le 28 avril 2022, est consacré au 175ème anniversaire de la naissance de Thomas Edison (1847-1931).
Autodidacte génial, Thomas Edison s'est rendu célèbre par de multiples inventions, dont les plus connues sont le phonographe et l'ampoule électrique à incandescence. Il fut aussi un homme d'affaires avisé. 
Fondateur de la General Electric, l'une des premières puissances industrielles mondiales, il fut en effet un inventeur prolifique (plus de 1000 brevets). Pionnier de l'électricité, diffuseur, vulgarisateur, il fut également l'un des principaux inventeurs du cinéma (aux côtés, entre autres, des frères Lumière) et de l'enregistrement du son. 
Ce bloc-feuillet a été conçu à partir d'une photographie prise vers 1922, Thomas Edison étant âgé de 75 ans. 
La Moldavie, Jersey ou le Niger ont également émis en 2022 des timbres consacrés à Thomas Edison.

Brilliant autodidact, Thomas Edison became famous for many inventions, the best known of which are the phonograph and the incandescent light bulb. He was also a shrewd businessman.
Founder of General Electric, one of the world's leading industrial powers, he was indeed a prolific inventor (more than 1000 patents). Pioneer of electricity, broadcaster, popularizer, he was also one of the main inventors of cinema (alongside, among others, the Lumière brothers) and sound recording.
This souvenir sheet was designed from a photograph taken circa 1922, Thomas Edison being 75 years old.
Moldova, Jersey and Niger also issued stamps dedicated to Thomas Edison in 2022.
