1ère Greffe coeur-poumons en Europe - Pli Premier Jour

First Heart-lung transplant in Europe - FDC 

Un an après des chirurgiens américains de l'université de Stanford, l'équipe du docteur français Christian Cabrol réalisa en 1982 la 1ère greffe coeur-poumons en Europe, à l'institut de cardiologie de l'hôpital de la Pitié-Salpetrière.
Pour commémorer le 30ème anniversaire de cette opération chirurgicale très complexe, la poste française a émis en avant-première le 14 juin 2012 (vente générale le 18 juin), un timbre spécial conçu par le graphiste Philippe Ravon.
C'est ce timbre (0,60€, tirage : 2000000) qui figure sur le joli pli Premier Jour illustré ci-dessous avec un TAD en forme de coeur émis à Paris, également conçu par Philippe Ravon.

One year after American surgeons of Stanford University, the French team of Dr. Christian Cabrol realized in 1982 the first heart-lung transplant in Europe, at the Institute of Cardiology of the Hospital de la Pitié-Salpetrière.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this very complex surgical operation, the French Post has issued in preview sale on June 14, 2012 (general sale on June 18), a special stamp designed by French graphic artist Philippe Ravon.

It is that stamp (€ 0.60, print run : 2,000,000) that appears on the nice illustrated First Day Cover below with a heart-shaped postmark issued in Paris, also designed by Philippe Ravon.

J'aime bien le dessin plein de couleurs et d'optimisme reproduit sur ce timbre, nous rappelant sans cesse les besoins cruciaux des malades en attente de greffes...
Ce type de greffe assez rare (une vingtaine en France chaque année) est indiquée en particulier pour les patients souffrant d'hypertension artérielle pulmonaire, de cardiopathie congénitale ou de mucoviscidose.
Cette 1ère greffe coeur-poumons a pu avoir lieu en 1982 suite à la découverte d'un anti-rejet efficace, la cyclosporine.
A noter que Philippe Ravon avait également déjà dessiné le timbre émis en 2008 pour les 40 ans de la 1ère greffe du coeur en Europe...

This type of rahter rare transplant (about twenty in France every year) is indicated especially for patients suffering from pulmonary arterial hypertension, congenital problems or cystic fibrosis.

This first heart-lung transplant took place in 1982 following the discovery of an effective anti-rejection, the cyclosporine.

To note that Philippe Ravon had previously also designed the stamp issued in 2008 devoted to the 40th anniversary of the first heart transplant in Europe...
