Par un décret royal du 31 Août 1943, le gouvernement du Royaume de Yougoslavie (en exil à Londres) décida de fermer son consulat à La Havane et d'ouvrir une mission à la place.
Cette date marque ainsi le début officiel de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre la Yougoslavie et la république de Cuba.
Le 18 mai 2013, la poste de Serbie a commémoré le 70ème anniversaire de ses relations en émettant un timbre spécial (46 dinars), conçu par Jaksa Vlahovic, montrant une poignée de main ainsi que les couleurs (bleu blanc rouge) des 2 drapeaux de Cuba et de Serbie.

By a Royal Decree of August 31, 1943, the Government of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (in exile in London) decided to close its consulate in Havana and to open a mission instead.
This date marks the official beginning of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Yugoslavia and the Republic of Cuba.
On May 18, 2013, the Post of Serbia has commemorated the 70th anniversary of these relations by issuing a special stamp (46 Dinars), designed by Jaksa Vlahovic, showing handshake as well as the colors (red white blue) of two flags of Cuba and Serbia.

Ce timbre a été émis en feuille de 10 timbres avec des mentions en serbe et anglais dans la marge supérieure et en français et allemand dans la marge inférieure (comme ci-dessus).
Les 2 pays entretiennent des relations étroites depuis ces 70 années, avec en particulier le soutien du peuple yougoslave au début de la Révolution cubaine qui permis à l'île de faire face à l'agression politique et militaire et le blocus brutal imposé à l'époque par les USA...
En retour, Cuba a toujours soutenu le droit à l'intégrité territoriale de la Serbie en se référant à la Charte des Nations Unies.
Ce timbre représente également 2 édifices emblématiques situés dans les capitales des 2 pays : El Capitolio, le siège actuel de l'académie des sciences cubaines à La Havane (à gauche) et le bâtiment de l'assemblée nationale à Belgrade (à droite).
A noter que ce timbre ne constitue pas a priori une émission commune avec Cuba...
This stamp was issued in sheets of 10 stamps with mentions in Serbian and English in the top margin and in French and German in the lower margin (as it's the case above).
The two countries have maintained close relations for 70 years, in particular with the support of the people of Yugoslavia at the beginning of the Cuban Revolution, which allowed the island to face political and military aggression and brutal blockade imposed on the time by the U.S.A...
In return, Cuba has always supported the right to the territorial integrity of Serbia, referring to the UN Charter.
This stamp is also featuring two emblematic buildings located in the capitals of the two countries, El Capitolio, the current headquarters of the Cuban Academy of Sciences in Havana (left) and the building of the National Assembly in Belgrade (right).
To note that this stamp is not a priori a joint issue with Cuba...
