Émission commune Australie-Nouvelle Zélande : 100 ans de l'ANZAC

Le 25 avril 1915, les troupes du Corps d'Armée Australien et Néo-Zélandais ("Australian and New Zealand Army Corps" ou ANZAC) débarquaient dans le détroit des Dardanelles (actuellement en Turquie) sur une plage connue par la suite sous le nom de "crique de l'ANZAC" ("ANZAC Cove").
Pour la 1ère fois de son histoire, les soldats de l'ANZAC prenaient ainsi part à un conflit, la bataille des Dardanelles (ou campagne de Gallipoli), durant la Première Guerre mondiale, qui a opposé alors l'Empire ottoman (allié des allemands) aux troupes britanniques et françaises, entre le 25 avril 1915 et le 9 janvier 1916...
Les 2 pays essuyèrent de lourdes pertes (près de 9000 soldats australiens et 3000 néo-zélandais tués) dans une bataille remportée finalement par les troupes ottomanes.
On April 25, 1915, the troops of the "Australian and New Zealand Army Corps", or ANZAC, landed in the strait of the Dardanelles (now in Turkey) on a beach known thereafter as the "ANZAC Cove".
For the first time in its history, the ANZAC soldiers took then part in a conflict, the Battle of the Dardanelles (or Gallipoli campaign), during the First World War, which then opposed the Ottoman Empire (supported by Germans) to the British and French troops between April 25 1915 and January 9, 1916...
The two countries had heavy casualties (almost 9,000 Australian and 3,000 New Zealanders soldiers killed) in a battle finally won by the Ottoman troops.

Pour commémorer le 100ème anniversaire de la formation de l'ANZAC, les administrations postales d'Australie et de Nouvelle-Zélande ont émis, le 7 avril 2015, une série commune composée de 2 timbres.
Un grand merci Ben pour ce joli FDC mixte ci-dessus, émis par la poste australienne (la poste néo-zélandaise a émis un FDC similaire), incluant les 2 timbres émis par chaque pays, avec les TAD Premier Jour respectifs de Wellington et Canberra :-)
Ben a envoyé ce pli le 30 avril 2015 de Northgate, situé dans la banlieue nord de la ville de Brisbane (Queensland).
Les 2 timbres représentent chacun 2 silhouettes de soldats lors d'un service de commémoration de l'ANZAC, en sentinelle et jouant le "Last Post" (la sonnerie aux morts en usage dans les armées du Commonwealth) au clairon.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the ANZAC, the postal administrations of Australia and New Zealand have issued on April 7, 2015, a joint set consisting of two stamps.
A big thank you Ben for this nice mixed FDC above, issued by Australia Post (New Zealand Post issued a similar FDC), including the two stamps issued by each country, with the respective FDC postmarks from Wellington and Canberra :-)
Ben sent this cover on April 30, 2015 from Northgate, located in the northern suburb of the city of Brisbane (Queensland).
The two stamps each depict two silhouettes of soldiers during an ANZAC memorial service, a catafalque sentry and a bugler sounding the Last Post (a call used at Commonwealth military funerals and ceremonies commemorating those who have been killed in war).

Ben a eu également la gentillesse de m'envoyer le même jour le FDC ci-dessus incluant le bloc-feuillet émis par la poste australienne (un bloc similaire a été émis en Nouvelle-Zélande), avec les 2 mêmes timbres.
Une branche de mimosa doré (Acacia pycnantha), la fleur nationale de l'Australie, ainsi que la célèbre fougère argentée de Nouvelle-Zélande, figurent sur l'illustration de ces 2 FDCs ainsi que sur les TAD Premier Jour, les timbres et la marge du bloc ci-dessus.
Enfin, le fond de ces 2 timbres représentent la crique de l'ANZAC où ces soldats débarquèrent ce 25 avril 1915.
Cette campagne de Gallipoli fut un élément fondateur de l'identité nationale australienne et néo-zélandaise et la journée de l'ANZAC, la plus importante célébration militaire dans ces deux pays, est commémorée chaque année le 25 avril.
Ben was also kind enough to send me the same day the FDC above including the souvenir sheet issued by Australia Post (a similar sheet was issued in New Zealand), with the same two stamps.
A branch of golden wattle (Acacia pycnantha), the national flower of Australia, as well as the famous Silver Fern from New Zealand, are featured on the illustration of these two FDCs as well as on the FDC postmarks, the stamps and the margin of the souvenir sheet above.
Finally, the background of these two stamps depicts the ANZAC Cove where these soldiers landed on April 25, 1915.
This Gallipoli campaign was a founding element of the Australia and New Zealand national identity and the ANZAC Day, the largest military celebration in both countries, is commemorated each year on April 25th.
