Le 4 octobre 2007, le parc national de l'atoll Dongsha est devenu le 7ème parc national et le 1er parc national marin de la République de Chine (Taïwan).
Ce parc marin est situé dans les îles Pratas (ou îles Dongsha), dans le nord-nord-est de la mer de Chine méridionale, à 422 km à l'ouest-sud-ouest de Kaohsiung.
Il comprend l'atoll de Dongsha, un atoll circulaire de 25 km de diamètre et une partie des mers environnantes (superficie totale de 3537 kilomètres carrés).
Revendiqué également par la République Populaire de Chine (comme de nombreuses autres îles de cette région), cet atoll dispose d'une riche biodiversité marine (poissons, méduses, calmars, requins, raies, tortues de mer, dugongs, cétacés) et n'est actuellement pas ouvert au tourisme public.
Le 21 février 2019 (année 108 localement), la Chunghwa Post de Taïwan a mis en circulation une jolie série (4 timbres) consacrée à ce parc national de l'atoll Dongsha.
On October 4, 2007, the Dongsha Atoll National Park became the 7th National Park and the 1st National Marine Park of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
This marine park is located in the Pratas Islands (or Dongsha Islands) in the north-northeast of the South China Sea, 422 km west-southwest of Kaohsiung.
It includes the Dongsha Atoll, a circular atoll 25 km in diameter and a part of the surrounding seas (total area of 3,537 square kilometers).
Also claimed by the People's Republic of China (like many other islands in this region), this atoll has a rich marine biodiversity (fish, jellyfish, squid, sharks, rays, sea turtles, dugongs, cetaceans) and is currently not open to public tourism.
On February 21, 2019 (year 108 locally), Taiwan's Chunghwa Post put into circulation a beautiful series (4 stamps) devoted to this Dongsha Atoll National Park.

Le 1er timbre (8 NT $) montre une vue aérienne de cet atoll ainsi qu'une espèce de poisson, une vieille rayée (Cheilinus fasciatus), courante dans cette région.
L'île de Dongsha (28 NT $) est située dans le centre-ouest de cet atoll, formée par des accumulations de sable corallien et des fragments de coquillages. Le râle à poitrine blanche (Amaurornis phoenicurus), représenté sur ce timbre, est actuellement le seul oiseau non migrateur de l'île.
Le récif corallien de Dongsha (13 NT $) est un écosystème abritant une vie marine d'une grande diversité comme cette demoiselle à tête jaune (Pomacentrus aurifrons) représentée en bas à gauche sur ce timbre.
Le dernier timbre (15 NT $) est consacré aux herbiers recouvrant les lagons de l'île Dongsha et les mers peu profondes autour de l'atoll, offrant un excellent habitat pour de nombreuses espèces, où elles peuvent à la fois se nourrir et se cacher, comme la raie léopard (Aetobatus narinari) présente sur ce timbre.

The first stamp (NT $ 8) shows an aerial view of this atoll and a species of fish, a Red-breasted wrasse (Cheilinus fasciatus), common in this region.
Dongsha Island (NT $ 28) is located in the west-central part of this atoll, formed by accumulations of coral sand and fragments of shells. The White-breasted waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus), shown on this stamp, is currently the only non-migratory bird on the island.
Dongsha Coral Reef (NT $ 13) is an ecosystem with a diverse marine life such as this Yellowhead Damselfish (Pomacentrus aurifrons) shown at the bottom left of this stamp.
The last stamp (NT $ 15) is devoted to the seagrass beds covering the lagoons of Dongsha Island and shallow seas around the atoll, providing excellent habitat for many species, where they can both find food and hide themselves, such as the Spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari) present on this stamp.
