En 2000, le cincle plongeur (Cinclus cinclus) a été officiellement désigné "oiseau national" du Royaume de Norvège (ce n'est curieusement pas un oiseau marin qui a été choisi...).
Cet oiseau au plumage brun et blanc caractéristique, de la taille d'un merle, vit pratiquement dans toutes les régions du pays (probablement une des raisons pour lesquelles il a été choisi), principalement à proximité de rivières où il se nourrit de mollusques, crevettes et petits poissons.
Le timbre EUROPA mis en circulation le 11 avril 2019 par la poste norvégienne Posten Norge est logiquement consacré à cet oiseau, appelé "fossekall" en norvégien, montrant un adulte nourrissant son petit, sur fond de chute d'eau (où cet oiseau niche fréquemment).
In 2000, the white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus) was officially designated as the "national bird" of the Kingdom of Norway (it is curiously not a seabird that was chosen ...).
This bird, with its brown and white plumage, having the size of a blackbird, lives in almost all parts of the country (probably one of the reasons explaining why he was chosen), mainly near rivers where it feeds on molluscs, shrimps and small fish.
The EUROPA stamp put into circulation on April 11, 2019 by the Norwegian Post Posten Norge is logically devoted to this bird, called "fossekall" in Norwegian, showing an adult feeding a young bird, with a waterfall (where this bird is able to nest) in the background.

Ce timbre EUROPA (tirage : 805000), conçu par Viggo Ree / Enzo Finger, a été imprimé (par Joh. Enschedé aux Pays-Bas) en carnet de 10 timbres autocollants avec une vignette attenante (présente sur la lettre ci-dessus) rappelant que la poste norvégienne (comme environ 25 autres pays ou territoires émettant des timbres EUROPA cette année) participe au projet "Europa Bird Stamps 2019" (initié par PostEurop) consistant à scanner les timbres (via une application gratuite CEE-app) pour écouter le chant des oiseaux.

This EUROPA stamp (print run: 805,000), designed by Viggo Ree / Enzo Finger, was printed (by Joh Enschedé in the Netherlands) in a booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps with an attached label (present on the letter above) reminding that the Norwegian Post (like about 25 other countries or territories issuing EUROPA stamps this year) is participating in the "Europa Bird Stamps 2019" project (initiated by PostEurop) consisting in scanning the stamps (via a free CEE-Application) to listen to the birds singing.
