Un grand merci Roman pour cette jolie lettre envoyée de Lviv le 1er juin 2019, affranchie avec la splendide série EUROPA, émise le 22 mai 2019, consacrée cette année au thème des oiseaux nationaux.
Ces 2 timbres (tarif "Z" - 13,20 UAH), conçus par Natalia Kokhal, sont consacrés respectivement au rossignol progné et à la cigogne blanche, considérée comme l'oiseau national ukrainien (de même en Lituanie, Pologne et Belarus) sans que cela ait un caractère officiel.
Ces 2 timbres (tirage : 130000 chacun) ont été imprimés en feuillet composé de 8 timbres + 1 vignette ainsi que dans un carnet composé de 2 blocs-feuillets (avec ces 2 timbres de plus petit format), imprimés à 12000 exemplaires.
A big thank you Roman for this nice letter sent from Lviv on June 1, 2019, stamped with the splendid EUROPA series, issued on May 22, 2019, dedicated this year to the theme of the national birds.
These two stamps (tariff "Z" - UAH 13.20), designed by Natalia Kokhal, are dedicated respectively to the thrush nightingale and the white stork, considered as the Ukrainian national bird (also in Lithuania, Poland and Belarus) without any official status.
These two stamps (print run: 130,000 each) were printed in a sheetlet of 8 stamps + 1 label as well as in a booklet composed of two souvenir sheets (with these 2 smaller size stamps), printed in 12,000 copies.
Roman a complété son affranchissement avec 2 timbres identiques faisant partie de la nouvelle série courante émise depuis 2017 par la poste ukrainienne, consacrée à des blasons de villes et villages du pays, Lokatchi ("D") ici.
Le timbre à droite représente une cigogne blanche (Ciconia ciconia) en vol, une autre étant dans son nid au 1er plan, sur fond de campagne ukrainienne (maison traditionnelle à droite).
L'autre timbre montre un rossignol progné (Luscinia luscinia), dont l'aire de nidification se situe au nord et à l'est de l'Europe où il remplace le rossignol philomèle. Cette espèce, qui hiverne en Afrique Méridionale, est connue pour son chant mélodieux et complexe.
Le rossignol chante la nuit pour attirer les femelles et le jour pour éloigner ses rivaux mâles. Il est ainsi le premier oiseau dont on sait qu'il différencie les heures de la journée où il chante selon le but poursuivi !
Roman completed his postage with 2 identical stamps being part of the new definitive series issued from 2017 by the Ukrainian Post, dedicated to the coat of arms of towns and villages of the country, Lokachi ("D") here.
The stamp on the right represents a white stork (Ciconia ciconia) in flight, another one being in its nest in the foreground, on the background of the Ukrainian countryside (traditional house on the right).
The other stamp shows a thrush nightingale (Luscinia luscinia), whose nesting area is north and east of Europe where it replaces the common nightingale. This species, which winters in southern Africa, is known for its melodious and complex song.
The nightingale sings at night to attract females and during the day to drive away male rivals. It is thus the first bird that is known to differentiate the hours of the day when he sings according to the goal pursued!
