Derrière cette notion "enquête moderne" intrigante, 150 ans de relevés topographiques et géographiques, dont les données sont aujourd'hui exploitées par l'institut d'enquête géographique (GSI) japonais.
Une division d'enquête a été en effet créée en 1869 par le ministère des services civils (gouvernement de Meiji), transférée au ministère de la construction après la 2ème guerre mondiale.
Ces données collectées permettent en particulier de produire des cartes topographiques du Japon d'une très grande précision.
Le 3 juin 2019, la poste japonaise a mis en circulation une intéressante série (10 timbres différents à 82 yen) consacrée au 150ème anniversaire de ces relevés modernes.
Behind this intriguing notion of "modern survey", 150 years of topographic and geographical surveys, the data of which being now used by the Japanese Geographical Survey Institute (GSI).
A survey division was created in 1869 by the Ministry of Civil Services (government of Meiji), transferred to the Ministry of Construction after the Second World War.

Un de ces 10 timbres (tirage : 500000 pour chaque timbre) a été utilisé sur la carte ci-dessus envoyée le 9 juin 2019 depuis la ville d'Hakodate. Merci beaucoup Terence !
Ce timbre est en particulier consacré à un relevé topographique par points triangulaires au sommet de Gozenzan dans la préfecture de Toyama, en exploitant le système de positionnement par satellites (GNSS).
Le TAD touristique rouge appliqué sur le timbre est intéressant car il comporte la date au format "1. 6 . 9", rappelant que le Japon est entré en 2019 dans la 1ère année de l'ère Reiwa ("ère de la belle harmonie") qui a commencé le lendemain de l'abdication au trône de l'empereur Akihito et l'intronisation de Naruhito.
Ce TAD évoque cette ville d'Hakodate située sur l'île d'Hokkaido, en particulier la tour Goryokaku (107 mètres de haut) qui permet une vue sur la forteresse du même nom (19ème siècle, en forme d'étoile) mais aussi le mont Hakodate, le détroit de Tsugaru ou la chaîne de montagne Yokotsu.

This stamp is in particular dedicated to a triangular point topographic survey at the Gozenzan summit in Toyama Prefecture, using the global navigation satellite system (GNSS).
The red tourist postmark applied on the stamp is interesting because it includes the date in the format "1. 6. 14", recalling that Japan entered in 2019 in the first year of the Reiwa era ("beautiful harmony era") that began the day after the abdication to the throne of Emperor Akihito and the enthronement of Naruhito.
This postmark evokes this city of Hakodate located on the island of Hokkaido, especially the Goryokaku tower (107 meters high) which allows a view of the star-shaped fortress of the same name (19th century) but also Hakodate Mountain, Tsugaru Strait or Yokotsu Mountain Range.
