Du 12 au 28 juillet 2019, la ville coréenne de Gwangju a organisé la 18ème édition des championnats du monde de natation, concernant des épreuves de nage en eau libre, natation sportive, natation synchronisée, plongeon, plongeon de haut vol et water-polo (76 épreuves au total).
La Corée du Sud organisait cette grande compétition (ayant lieu tous les 2 ans depuis 1973) pour la 1ère fois de son histoire et est seulement le 4ème pays (avec l'Italie, l'Allemagne et le Japon) à avoir organisé les 5 événements sportifs majeurs (jeux olympiques d'été et d'hiver, championnats du monde d'athlétisme, de natation et Coupe du monde de football) !
Le 12 juillet 2019, la poste coréenne a mis en circulation un timbre (380 won), conçu par Park, Eun-kyung et imprimé en feuille de 16 timbres (par Southern Colour Print en Nouvelle-Zélande), consacré à ce championnat du monde de natation Gwangju 2019.
From July 12th to 28th, 2019, the Korean city of Gwangju organized the 18th edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships, covering open water swimming, swimming, artistic swimming, diving, high diving and water polo events (76 events in total).
South Korea organized this major competition (taking place every two years since 1973) for the first time in its history and is only the 4th country (with Italy, Germany and Japan) to have organized the 5 main sport events (Summer and Winter Olympic Games, World Championships in Athletics and Swimming and FIFA World Cup)!
On July 12, 2019, the Korean Post issued a stamp (380 won), designed by Park, Eun-kyung and printed in a sheet of 16 stamps (by Southern Color Print in New Zealand), devoted to this World Aquatics Championship Gwangju 2019.

Le slogan de ces championnats "Plongez dans la paix", également inclus dans cette marge supérieure, a été créé dans l'espoir de parvenir à la paix pour toute l'humanité et a une résonance particulière pour Gwangju, une ville qui symbolise la démocratie et les droits de l'homme.
En 1980, la ville a en effet été témoin d'un massacre, lorsque l'armée a ouvert le feu sur des manifestants réclamant la démocratie dans le pays...
Le logo des championnats (vague de la paix), créé à partir de l'image du mont Mudeungsan et de la rivière Yeongsangang, est présent sur ce timbre ainsi que les 2 mascottes, Suri et Dari, un couple de loutres.
La Chine (grâce aux épreuves de plongeon), les USA (grâce aux épreuves de natation sportive) et la Russie (grâce aux épreuves de natation synchronisée) ont dominé le classement des médailles.
Les prochains championnats du monde de natation auront lieu en 2021 à Fukuoka au Japon.

The slogan of these championships "Dive into Peace", also included in this top margin, was created in the hope of achieving peace for all of humanity and has a special resonance for Gwangju, a city that symbolizes democracy and human rights.

The logo of the championships (wave of peace), created from the image of Mount Mudeungsan and Yeongsangang River, is present on this stamp as well as the two mascots, Suri and Dari, a couple of otters.
China (thanks to the diving events), USA (thanks to the swimming events) and Russia (thanks to the artistic swimming events) dominated the medal ranking.
The next World Aquatics Championships will be held in 2021 in Fukuoka, Japan.
