Avec près de 350 millions d'albums vendus dans le monde (albums traduits dans 107 langues !), la série française de bandes dessinées Astérix est une des plus célèbres dans le monde.
Appelée "Astérix le Gaulois" à l'origine, cette bande dessinée a été créée en 1959 par le scénariste René Goscinny et le dessinateur Albert Uderzo, publiée pour la 1ère fois dans le journal Pilote.
Après la mort de René Goscinny en 1977, Albert Uderzo poursuit seul la série, remplacé à partir de 2013 par Jean-Yves Ferri et Didier Conrad...
Cette série (37 albums publiés) met en scène en l'an 50 avant JC un petit village gaulois d'Armorique qui poursuit seul la lutte contre l'envahisseur romain, grâce à une potion magique préparée par le druide.

Astérix et ses amis ont déjà été à l'honneur en France (mais également en Belgique, en Allemagne ou à Guernesey) dans le passé, en particulier en 1999 (Journée du Timbre) pour célébrer le 40ème anniversaire de cette bande dessinée, en 2009 (50ème anniversaire) avec un bloc-feuillet spécial et cette année avec un carnet "Tous timbrés" (12 timbres) émis le 3 juin, consacré aux personnages principaux de cette bande dessinée : Astérix, Obélix, Idéfix mais aussi Falbala, Agecanonix (le doyen du village) et Mme Agecanonix, Abraracourcix (le chef du village) et sa femme Bonemine, Panoramix (le druide), Assurancetourix (le barde), Cétautomatix (le forgeron) ou Ordralfabétix (le poissonnier).
Le 9 septembre 2019 (vente générale), la poste française a émis un nouveau bloc-feuillet (tirage : 350000) consacré au 60ème anniversaire d'Astérix, composé de 5 timbres identiques (0,88€).
Un de ces timbres, représentant Astérix buvant sa potion magique et le nombre 60, figure sur le FDC ci-dessus avec TAD de Paris (conception : Marion Favreau) du 6 septembre 2019. Merci beaucoup Joël !
Asterix and his friends have already been honored in France (but also in Belgium, Germany or Guernsey) in the past, especially in 1999 (Stamp Day) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this comic, in 2009 (50th anniversary) with a special souvenir sheet and this year with a booklet "Tous timbrés" (12 stamps) issued on June 3, devoted to the main characters of this comic: Asterix, Obelix, Dogmatix but also Panacea, Geriatrix (the village elder) and Ms. Geriatrix, Vitalstatistix (the village chief) and his wife Impedimenta, Getafix (the druid), Cacofonix (the bard), Fulliautomatix (the blacksmith) or Unhygienix (the fishmonger).
On September 9, 2019 (general sale), the French Post issued a new souvenir sheet (print run: 350,000) devoted to the 60th anniversary of Asterix, consisting of 5 identical stamps (€ 0.88).
One of these stamps, depicting Asterix drinking his magic potion and the number 60, is present on the FDC above with postmark (design: Marion Favreau) from Paris of September 6, 2019. Thank you very much Joël!
