Après les "Maisons de la Méditerranée" en 2018, les 14 administrations postales participantes ont émis cette année des timbres "Euromed Postal" différents consacrés à des types de costumes traditionnels du pourtour de la mer Méditerranée.
Depuis 2014, certains pays membres (22 au total actuellement) de l'Union Postale pour la Méditerranée (PUMed), une union restreinte de l'UPU, émettent en effet chaque année des timbres ayant un thème commun lié à la région méditerranéenne.
Pour illustrer ce thème des "Costumes de la Méditerranée", la poste grecque a à nouveau opté pour 4 timbres illustrant des costumes féminins caractéristiques de différentes régions situées les plus au nord, à l'est, à l'ouest et au sud du pays.
Ces 4 timbres, conçus par Myrsini Vardopoulou, ont été imprimés chacun en feuille de 25 et 8 timbres mais également chacun dans un bloc-feuillet numéroté (tirage : 7000) et dans un carnet (tirage : 7000).
After the "Houses of the Mediterranean" in 2018, the 14 participating postal administrations have issued this year different "Euromed Postal" stamps devoted to traditional types of costumes around the Mediterranean Sea.
Since 2014, some member countries (currently 22 in total) of the Postal Union for the Mediterranean (PUMed), a restricted union of the UPU, are indeed issuing each year stamps devoted to a common theme related to the Mediterranean region.
To illustrate this theme of the "Costumes in the Mediterranean", the Greek Post has again opted for four stamps illustrating female costumes characteristic of different regions located to the most northern, easterly, westerly and southerly parts of the country.
These four stamps, designed by Myrsini Vardopoulou, were each printed in sheets of 25 and 8 stamps but also each in a numbered souvenir sheet (print run: 7,000) and in a booklet (print run: 7,000).
Les 4 timbres se-tenant de ce carnet, sans dentelure horizontale, figurent sur le joli pli Premier Jour ci-dessus, avec TAD d'Athènes du 15 juillet 2019 (la date commune d'émission étant le 9 juillet normalement...). Merci beaucoup Spyros !
Comme de coutume, le logo Euromed Postal (un faucon stylisé) est présent sur chacun de ces 4 timbres ainsi que sur le TAD.
Les différents costumes représentés ci-dessus (de gauche à droite) : costume de mariée ou de fête de Kastellorizo (l'île grecque habitée la plus orientale) datant de la fin du 19ème siècle (tarif permanent "Carte postale internationale", tirage : 3000000), costume du village d'Anogeio (île de Crète) datant du début du 20ème siècle (tarif permanent "Carte postale internationale", tirage : 3000000), vêtement de mariée de Lefkáda (une des îles Ioniennes) datant du 19ème et 20ème siècle (tarif permanent "Lettre domestique 20g", tirage : 2000000) et costume de réfugié de Xanthi (Macédoine-Orientale-et-Thrace, nord du pays) datant de la fin du 19ème siècle (tarif permanent "Lettre domestique recommandée 20g", tirage : 1000000).
Cette série a été conçue avec la collaboration du musée Benaki de la culture grecque à Athènes et la Fondation du folklore du Péloponnèse à Nafplio.
A noter que la poste grecque ELTA participe depuis le début (en 2014) à ces émissions de timbres Euromed Postal.
The four se-tenant stamps of this booklet, without horizontal perforation, are present on the nice First Day cover above, with cancellations from Athens of July 15, 2019 (the common date of issue being the 9 of July normally ...). Thank you very much Spyros!
As usual, the Euromed Postal logo (a stylized hawk) is present on each of these four stamps as well as on the postmark.
The different costumes featured above (from left to right): bridal or festive costume from Kastellorizo (the most eastern inhabited Greek island) dating from the end of the 19th century (permanent rate "International postcard", print run: 3,000,000), costume from the village of Anogeio (Crete Island) dating from the beginning of the 20th century (permanent rate "International postcard", print run: 3,000,000), bridal apparel from Lefkáda (one of the Ionian Islands) dating from the 19th and 20th century (permanent rate "Domestic letter 20g", print run: 2,000,000) and refugee costume from Xanthi (Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, northern Greece) dating from the end of the 19th century (permanent rate "Domestic registered letter 20g", print run: 1,000,000).
This series was designed with the collaboration of the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture in Athens and the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation in Nafplion.
To note that the Greek Post ELTA has participated since the beginning (in 2014) in these Euromed Postal stamp issues.
