"Iconic marine life" new definitive stamp set on FDCs from Malaysia

Série courante "Faune marine emblématique" sur FDCs de Malaisie

Le 1er février 2020, la poste malaisienne a établi des nouveaux tarifs postaux et à cette occasion, a mis en circulation le 18 juin 2020 (avec retard à cause sans doute de la crise sanitaire), une nouvelle série courante nationale (5 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) intitulée "faune marine emblématique", consacrée en particulier à différentes espèces menacées vivant dans cette région du sud-est asiatique.
Un grand merci Khor pour ces 2 splendides FDCs officiels concernant respectivement le bloc-feuillet (5 RM, tirage : 20000) et les 5 timbres de cette série (tirage : 250000 chacun), avec TADs de la ville d'Ipoh (état de Perak) !
Ce bloc-feuillet ci-dessous est spectaculaire, par sa découpe (contours d'une tortue sortant de son œuf), par son vernis UV transparent appliqué sur certaines parties et par la forme ronde du timbre. 
On February 1, 2020, the Malaysian Post established new postal rates and on this occasion, put into circulation on June 18, 2020 (with delay probably because of the health crisis), a new national definitive series (5 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) entitled "Iconic marine life", devoted in particular to various endangered species living in this region of Southeast Asia.
A big thank you Khor for these two splendid official FDCs concerning respectively the souvenir sheet (5 RM, print run: 20,000) and the 5 stamps of this series (print run: 250,000 each), with postmarks from the city of Ipoh (state of Perak)!
This souvenir sheet below is spectacular, by its cutout (contours of a turtle emerging from its egg), by its transparent UV varnish applied to certain parts and by the round shape of the stamp.

Ce bloc-feuillet est consacré à la tortue imbriquée (Eretmochelys imbricata), une espèce réputée et longtemps recherchée pour la qualité de son écaille, et pour cette raison, l'une des espèces de tortues de mer les plus menacées d'extinction (statut "En danger critique d'extinction" d'après l'UICN).
Cette espèce est également menacée par le ramassage massif des œufs, les conséquences de la pêche (comme la prise dans les filets de pêche) ou la dégradation de l'environnement en général (qualité de l'eau, ingestion de sacs plastiques...).
Cette même tortue est représentée sur le 1er timbre de cette série ci-dessous (1,30 RM - envoi domestique standard jusqu'à 20g).

Un dauphin à bosse du Pacifique (Sousa chinensis), ayant un statut "Vulnérable" d'après l'UICN, est représenté sur le timbre suivant (1,40 RM - envoi domestique standard jusqu'à 50g). Cette espèce est particulièrement menacée par la destruction de son habitat et la pollution (plastique principalement).

This souvenir sheet is dedicated to the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), a species known and long sought after for the quality of its shell, and for this reason, one of the most endangered species of sea turtle ("Critically endangered" status according to IUCN).

This species is also threatened by the massive collection of eggs, the consequences of fishing (often caught in fishing nets) or the degradation of the environment in general (water quality, ingestion of plastic bags ... ).

This same turtle is pictured on the first stamp of this series below (RM 1.30 - standard domestic mail up to 20g).

A Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin (Sousa chinensis), having a "Vulnerable" status according to IUCN, is depicted on the following stamp (RM 1.40 - standard domestic mail up to 50g). This species is particularly threatened by the destruction of its habitat and pollution (mainly plastic).

Le timbre suivant (1,50 RM - envoi domestique non standard jusqu'à 50g) est consacré au requin-baleine (Rhincodon typus), une espèce de poissons cartilagineux pouvant exceptionnellement atteindre 20 mètres de long, considéré comme le plus grand poisson vivant actuellement sur Terre. Cette espèce a un statut "En danger" d'après l'UICN.
Une espèce de bénitier, Tridacna maxima, figure sur le timbre suivant (1,70 RM - envoi domestique non standard jusqu'à 100g). Cette espèce de bénitier, avec son épais manteau souvent très coloré (bleu, vert, violet) est souvent présent dans les aquariums marins.
Le dernier timbre (1,90 RM - envoi domestique non standard jusqu'à 250g) représente un dugong (Dugong dugon), une des seules espèces appartenant à l'ordre des siréniens, avec le lamantin, vivant encore sur terre (statut "Vulnérable" d'après l'UICN). Cette espèce est menacée par la réduction de ses habitats côtiers, en particulier à cause du tourisme, de la pollution et de l'urbanisation des côtes... Parallèlement à l'émission de cette série, Pos Malaysia se joint à l'effort de conservation marine en adoptant un total de 10 nids de tortues qui fourniraient à environ 1000 œufs de tortues un environnement sûr et sécurisé tout au long de la période d'incubation dans le sable chaud de la plage. Les écloseries sont gérées par deux organisations de conservation des tortues, Lang Tengah Turtle Watch à Tanjong Jara et Juara Turtle Project à Pulau Tioman. 

The next stamp (RM 1.50 - non-standard domestic mail up to 50g) is dedicated to the whale shark (Rhincodon typus), a species of cartilaginous fish that can exceptionally reach 20 meters in length, considered the largest living fish today on earth. This species has an "Endangered" status according to IUCN.

A species of giant clam, Tridacna maxima, appears on the following stamp (RM 1.70 - non-standard domestic mail up to 100g). This species, with its thick, often very colorful mantle (blue, green, purple) is often found in marine aquariums.

The last stamp (RM 1.90 - non-standard domestic mail up to 250g) depicts a dugong (Dugong dugon), one of the few species belonging to the order of the sirenians, with the manatee, still living on earth ("Vulnerable" status according IUCN). This species is threatened by the reduction of its coastal habitats, especially due to tourism, pollution and coastal urbanization ...

Along with the issue of this series, Pos Malaysia is joining the effort to marine conservation by adopting a total of 10 turtle nests which would provide approximately 1000 turtle eggs with a safe and secure environment throughout the incubation period in the warm beach sand. The hatcheries are managed by two turtle conservation organizations, Lang Tengah Turtle Watch in Tanjong Jara and Juara Turtle Project in Pulau Tioman.
